WHITEBLACK has announced that they will be disbanding on July 22nd.

The following announcement was written on the CROW MUSIC OHP:

There are probably a lot of people who have already heard, however, as we announced at our live on March 4th at Kyoto ARC DEUX, WHITEBLACK will be disbanding.

We feel terribly sorry to all the fans who are upset by this unexpected announcement.

Personally, this is something that crossed my thoughts about three years ago, and at that time the members discussed the idea [of disbanding]. It was then when I thought the time limit for WHITEBLACK would be about two years more; 2009.

I think that disbanding is something that we’ve all felt in the pits of our stomachs, and inaddition to that a few days ago we talked amongst each other and with our office, and as a result we decided to officially announce that we would be disbanding.

Along with announcing that WHITEBLACK will be disbanding, I have been thinking about stepping back from being on stage in the visual music scene.

I’ll put my all into my performances during the time I have left with the band, and even if it’s just a little bit, I want to [leave a part of myself] behind with all of the fans who have been supporting me.

Furthermore, after this I’ll be pouring my energy into acting as CROW MUSIC’s representative and training newcomers to the scene.

Since the start of our activities in August of 2005, we’ve had a lot of difficulities with members changing and so forth, but it’s because of all the fans that supported us that we were able to continue on this far.

I’ll selfishly say this until the very last moment, but please support WHITEBLACK until the very end.

We will continue on with our activities, making WHITEBLACK lives that are even hotter than they have been.

WHITEBLACK and TATSUYA, I think it’s worth the read:
As we announced on March 4th during out live at Tokyo ARC DEUX and on our OHP, after our activities are finished in July, WHITEBLACK will be disbanding.

I am extremely sorry to all of the fans who have been cheering us on who feel sad about this unexpected announcement.

Also, I received a lot of calls from those connected to the band, ‘off the record’ about us disbanding.

I really am truly sorry.

At this time, I can’t explain why we decided to disband in only a few short words, but personally I was very worried. It seemed like the band was gong to break up, and I’ve been thinking about if I’ll continue to be a player [in a band], and what I’ll do as far as activities go.

I think that I do want to keep on going, so I plan to throw my all into doing just that.

As a result… I’ll take the chance that I can from these performances that I plan to participate in, and until the very last live, I want to pack [the lives with] the feeling of “songs that only I can sing”, and leave them behind in everyone’s hearts.

I know that I always am saying these selfish things, but I hope that you’ll support me.

We’ll be updating our schedule with information about our performances after April 9th at Shibuya RUIDO K2.

We’re currently in the process of getting everything coordinated, and there are a lot of people taking care of the band all over the country, so we’re planning on doing a country-wide tour.

Although we’ll be having our last live, I’ve been often said to the members, “I want to show you what I’ve seen, even the worst”.

So with those sentiments, we’ve chosen the last places that we want to play.

As we want these lives to be a success, we have to keep on putting all our effort into them, so everyone, please lend us your energy.

To all of the fans that have been supporting WHITEBLACK…

And to all of you who have been supporting the bands I’ve been in in the past…

For these [upcoming] performances, I have to show you the best.

Even though we’ve decided and announced that we will be disbanding, it doesn’t feel anything like “the beginning of the end”!!

Just as before, or even more than before, we want to make your hearts beat, we want to make you excited, and we want you to have a good time.

We’re thinking of some other interesting projects, along with the tour.

We’re planning to release something new.

On the eve before our last live, if it’s somehow possible, we’re planning to have an unparalleled event.

It’s hard to put something like this together, and right now we’re doing our activities behind closed doors, but if we can do it, it’ll be amazing.

We’ll be talking about it at our live on April 9th.

To all of the fans who have been supporting WHITEBLACK thus far, you’ve got to stick with us until our last live.

If it’s through lives, or letters, on our blogs… however you do it, we want to hear your voices.

At every WHITEBLACK live, during the MC we say, “THE FOUNDATION OF WHITEBLACK’S LIVES ARE RAISING YOUR VOICES LOUD!”, but from hereon in, we want to hear an explosion of your voices and spirit.

“I am grateful to everyone who has been supporting all of the bands I’ve been in thus far, and of course those who have been supporting WHITEBLACK. I love my fans.”

July 22nd.

* TATSUYA wrote 「大蟻」 which means ‘giant ant’ but in actuality it was the title of his old blog that was hosted on Livedoor.

Furthermore, WHITEBLACK has announced that they will be releasing a best album that will include tracks from their beginning, until their end chosen by the fans. Fans who want a say in what will appear on the album can choose three of their favourite songs.

To submit your entry, you need to send an e-mail to the address given on the OHP with the three song titles, ranked first, second and third. This can include distributed songs. They will be accepting e-mails from March 14th until March 25th.
