Can you tell me who is the lovely girl in the middle? Does she look familiar? It is Kanon Wakeshima! Today’s fact is about side projects.
The other day Kanon put on her 19th live but under the project name: “The Strange Treat”, this was their debut. She talked about the concept and live in her blog.
It’s a show where I came up with a concept from scratch and decided to do all the things that I wanted to do and express up until now. There were some parts that didn’t go the way I wanted, but overall it was a fun experience! I wrote “The strange treat!” for this show.
This time I wrote with the intention of creating music that was more fun and “tasty.”

Great news for American visual kei fans – AM² convention which will be held at Anaheim Convention Center on July 1.-3., has announced some really interesting guests. From visual artists Sixh., heidi., Sadie, Kanon Wakeshima and kanon are listed as their Guests of Honor – also last two’s project kanon x kanon.
Admission is free, but you can check all details from the convention’s official site.

kanon×kanon － New single

kanon×kanon will be releasing a new single titled 恋の道程 (Koi no Dotei).
Like their previous single, the title track for this single will also be used as an anime theme song.
恋の道程 (Koi no Dotei) will be the theme song for TV anime series 30歳の保健体育 (30-sai no Hoken Taiiku).
The tracklist for the single has yet to be confirmed but the single will be released on May 25th and both editions will cost 1260 yen.

Kanon Wakeshima’s Short Story Contest

This October, Kanon Wakeshima is having an exciting new contest and she wants all of her fans to participate. Kanon Wakeshima worked really hard on her latest album Lolitawork Libretto creating new songs just for her fans. To celebrate, Maru Music is having a contest to see who can come up with their own Lolitawork Libretto about Kanon Wakeshima. We’re asking the fans to make a short story based off her latest album. Then a team of Maru Music judges will decide on the top 5 stories. Kanon will read the top 5 stories and she’ll choose the winning short story. Enter today for your chance to win a Kanon Wakeshima Prize Pack with an Autographed copy of her latest album Lolitawork Libretto, an Autographed Poster and more.
Contest Description:
Show us your Lolitawork by submitting your most creative short story to Maru Music. But here’s the challenge, the Short story must be based off one of Kanon’s songs off her latest album Lolitawork Libretto and include a series of words. Think of it as making your own fan-fiction. Once all the entries have been submitted, a team of judges will decide on the top 5 stories. Kanon Wakeshima herself will read the top 5 stories and pick a winner out of the five. Today we have certainly interesting project to introduce to you. It’s called 「kanon×kanon」 and it’s members indeed are cellist and vocalist Wakeshima Kanon and “Creator of Akiba kei”, Kanon of Antic Cafe. They are teaming up to make an opening song for Fuji TV anime 「屍鬼」 (Shiki).
The opening song「カレンデュラ レクイエム」 (Calendula Requiem) will be released as a single too on November 17th in three types. The limited edition with bonus DVD costs 1,500 yen and limited time edition 1,200 yen. Limited time pressing will have anime jacket and TV size version of the opening song. It will be sold only until the end of December 2010. Regular edition also costs 1,200 yen.
Tracklist for the single is as follows:

Maru Music presents the highly anticipated second album from Japan’s favorite Gothic Lolita, Kanon Wakeshima. This full-length album entitled Lolitawork Libretto features 13 tracks and includes her latest singles “Tomei no Kagi” and “Lolitawork Libretto -Storytelling by solita-”. Kanon Wakeshima is a artist who is produced by the infamous Mana from the cutting edge group MALICE MIZER. Under Mana’s guidance, Kanon has a strong Visual-kei influence. Details on Wakeshima Kanon’s new album

We have already talked about 分島花音 (Wakeshima Kanon) planning to release a new full-album on the 28th of July. There are finally more details about it.
As you know, the release will be entitled 「少女仕掛けのリブレット 〜LOLITAWORK LIBRETTO〜」(Shoujou Shikake no Libretto 〜LOLITAWORK LIBRETTO〜)and it will come in two types – a Limited type containing CD + DVD for 3800 yenand a Regular type including a CD only, costing 3059 yen only. Kanon’s new album

On July 28th Kanon will be releasing a new album, “Shoujo Shikake no Libretto”. Unlike before where Mana has been the total producer – this time he only composed 6 songs and arranged 2. So this album will probably have a different feel from what we are used to. Speaking of new, Kanon’s site has totally been redone to a pretty new layout and style. You can hear a new tune while you’re browsing through her site.

Kanon helps out with game

Kanon of Antic Cafe is producing a fun little game which is available for cell phone users. The game is called 『Pinky☆Distortion』and tells of a story of a young girl (you play as this character) who likes and works in the visual kei scene as a worker in a Harajuku studio. She stumbles on a new band called Dis;code and notices they do not have a singer!! So what does she do? She becomes their manager and tries to hire a vocalist. Thats the summary of the story line. What do you think…something that you would play?
On February 20th, KERA will be sponsoring an event with Kanon Wakeshima. Antic Cafe’s Kanon will also be there to talk about the game. You can go to the site for more game info.

Kanon’s new year message

Kanon gave a short message to her fans last week, stating she is working on a new release and that she will work hard on her upcoming lives. She also has a live coming up on February 20th that is sponsored by KERA. The event is called ～BUTOU-KAI～ COOL JAPAN STYLE and will be at Ebisu LIQUIDROOM. Tickets are already on advance sell for 4,000 yen.
So she will have a new release even though she hasn’t given us a set date for it yet. She is also wearing that dress she posted about in her diary for Halloween.

Did you know that Kanon’s Halloween costume was made by BABY, THE STARS SHINE BRIGHT? It was a collaboration between Kanon and Alice and the Pirates.

The other day, I drew a picture of the dress I wore for the “HELLWEEN LIVE”.
It was easy to move around in the mini-skirt.
Both the design and the pattern were beautiful.
This time, I was made up as a clown.
It was fun trying out a make-up style I haven’t done before.

Kanon’s new song and event with VAMPS

Kanon has a new song which I believe it is called Transparent Key. The song is featured on the online game called Avalon’s Key. Yet again, the song is produced by Mana. You can hear a preview on the game’s website here. It sounds really pretty!
She will also be attending a live event with VAMPS called HELLWEEN LIVE 2009 on October 29th. On October 30th VAMPS invited MONORAL to join in and on October 31st BREAKERZ is the guest.

Hey guys, Big Ern here. For today’s random fact, I’ll be talking about Kanon Wakeshima. Just this past weekend she was in the US for Otakon. Did you know that Kanon names all of her cellos? She gives them a unique name and a number into the name of the cellos. Clever no??
For example, she has a white cello and its name is “Mikazuki” Mikazuki translated means new moon or crescent moon, however the name, when written in Japanese, contains the character for the number 3 (三日月 – 三 = 3 ) She has 2 other cellos with clever names as well! Her red one that she uses is called “Nanachie” Nanachie translate means wisdom. When written in Japanese, it contains the character for the number 7 (七知恵 – 七 = 7) Lastly, her brown cello. Its name is “Yaeharu” Translated, it means multi-layered spring. When written in Japanese, it contains the character for the number 8 (八重春 – 八 = 8 )
Pretty neat huh? If Big Ern had instruments, I would definitely give them some clever name… maybe names of my favorite cereals! Anyone else name their instruments?
