Yu-Jin (ex-Vivid) has Passed Away

There is nothing more heartbreaking than reporting the death of a legend of the Visual-Kei music scene. Yu-Jin, popularly known as the guitarist for the band Vivid (era 1999-2003) recently passed away. His best friend, Takeshi, posted the following on his blog. We have translated it in its entirety, including the speech given at Yu-Jin’s funeral.
Obituary
My best friend and comrade-in-arms,
Yu-jin (ex. Vivid) had previously been under medical care for an illness,
And passed away unexpectedly on January 14, 2013.
In accordance with his family’s wishes, a family funeral was carried out quickly.
I apologize for making the announcement to everyone so late.To everyone who enjoyed, supported, and cheered on Yu-jin while alive,
I’d like to thank you deeply, in his place.I meant to see him off properly, but
When I returned to Tokyo and saw a video of Vivid
Yu-jin was there, and to be honest I couldn’t handle it…I was often called ‘gross’ by him but

On February 11, 1976, a baby’s cry was raised up
He walked on, an honorable journey…
Now, the photograph decorated in the middle of the alter
Is a magnificent one from his band days…In a band since his college days,
He formed Vivid shortly after graduation.
It led to activities like country-wide tours and one-man lives,
Being surrounded by so many fans and soaking in the spotlight,
And taking the world by storm.He was usually a quiet person, but once he took a guitar and got on stage
He played with splendid timbre and at times ran around the stage
He performed intense, passionate music with his friends
And chiseled a page of his youth…
He spoke in a magazine interview;
“I smile more than most people”
And just like those words, his constant, bright smile never faded…
And, everyone, he loved those smiles of yours…Those days passed and he went to help with work at his father’s company,
Making things; even there, with a masterful flair and way of thinking,
He even surprised his father, and I heard he contributed to the achievements of the company…And, last September with other ex-members of Vivid,
He participated in a live with his best friend TAKESHI-san,
And he enjoyed that stage he’d been gone from for so many years, with his full spirit…If I open the gates of my memory, it’s packed with tears and laughter…
If I look back, I think the life he walked through never had a level road, but
He ran through that life, those days, with all his might.
Coming into contact with him or seeing his wonderful smile or hearing his kind voice won’t be possible anymore, but
The memories will forever live on in all of your hearts…
While everyone once more looks back on meeting him and parting ways,

ViViD x Dragon Nest

In June, ViViD released their first album, “INFINITY”. They’ve now announced that the song, “live your life”, which was released on the album, is being used in the commercial for the online game, “Dragon Nest”.
“live your life” was chosen as he song for the commercial because it’s positive lyrics and feeling well represents the players of “Dragon Nest”.
Along with their song being used, ViViD have collaborated with Dragon Nest to make a special site which includes video of the commercial, a comment from the band, and talks about Dragon Nest from ViViD members IV and Ko-ki who tried out and enjoyed the game.

ViViD has announced they will release their long-awaited first full album in June!
Limited Edition (CD+DVD) – 3,400 yen
Special Bonus Track Edition (CD) – 3,059 yen
Some of the songs to be included in the album are 「夢」 ～ムゲンノカケラ～ (「yume」 ~mugen no kakera~), BLUE, FAKE, message, REAL, カケラ (kakera), amongst others.
The album’s title and tracklist will be revealed at a later date. Stay tuned!
ViViD’s 5th single 「REAL」 comes out on May 16th! Details can be found here.
In June, the band will embark on a 3-stop tour titled 「Welcome to the ROCK★SHOW」.

ViViD have announced that they will be releasing their 5th single this spring!
The single is titled, “REAL” and it’s coming out in three types on May 16th. All the types are currently up on CDJapan for pre-ordering! So get your copies now!

Although it’s not listed, I assume that the five tracks includes two new songs, instrumental versions, plus a bonus track. The A and B Types have two tracks listed.

About a week ago, ViViD teamed up with Nico Nico and the Nippon Cultural Broadcasting Inc. for a live bowling competition! Although the show has already aired, I thought it might be nice for readers who missed it to get a review! Luckily, Barks.jp posted just that.

Nico Nico Live broadcasting and Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, Inc. have teamed up with programme regulars Vivid to bring viewers a live broadcast programme from the bowling Mecca Tamachi Hilane which aired on the 16th of February.
Nico Nico’s 「THE ViViD STYLE」 have teamed up with Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, Inc. 「ViViD no ViViBit naito！」 to broadcast a special collaboration programme. It was the first ever programme from either companies to be recorded live from a bowling alley. The idea came from Ryouga when he suggested a bowling competition in the last episode of 「THE ViViD STYLE」when asked what challenges they should have to carry out.
During 「THE ViViD STYLE」 the band divided themselves into two teams for the competition. The band came dressed in flamboyant bowling uniforms and among the divided cheering by fans for both teams the band continuously bowled strikes and spares. The competition commentary was carried out by the president of the Japan Professional Bowling Association, Ritsuko Nakayama. She was the first woman to bowl a perfect game and when she entered the building the professional bowler was greeted with huge applause.
「ViViD no ViViBit naito！」was broadcast on the 16th of February, but the live audience broadcast will air from 01:00 on the 18th of February. IV also celebrated his birthday on the 16th of February, so please make sure to tune in to see what challenge the band has in store.

On January 7th, ViViD had their first perfromance at Budokan. Now, on April 18th, they will be releasing a live DVD of that very concert!

In March, the band will also be releasing their first artist book which is expected to come out around the 15th.
The artist book, which also comes with a DVD, is A4 in size, and 144 all colour pages. The book itself features an interview with the band that covers everything from the story from the beginning, the concept behind the band, how the members met, and how the band was formed, with both photos and cartoons. There is a report on their three night, four day stay in Taiwan during their Asian Tour. Also included are the ‘tracks’ up until their Budokan performance, a live report, backstage coverage, and an after interview.
The DVD is a “limited edition” which features off-shot footage, video from Taiwan and more.
The DVD edition is limited to to mail order only, and is available on CDJapan. The original cost is 5,000 yen plus 500 for shipping and handling. Please note extra shipping charges apply for CDJapan orders, making it 8,400 yen. The book alone costs 2,980 yen and will be available in CD shops.
The news for ViViD isn’t over yet, as the band teams up with the brand MALULANI HAWAII for an ‘original collaboration bracelet’. There’s a different model for each member.
Shin’s Model contains lapis lazuli, and onyx which brings about good luck. It’s good for warding off evil and trouble, and the crystal gives it the power of reasoning. The other stones are integrated to give a power up to good fortune.
Ryoga’s Model has citrine (false topaz), and hematite which is great for business and ambition. The crystal boosts emotional strength, and the other stones give off good luck.
Reno’s Model incorporates moonstone as well as amethyst, which has healing properties, and protects love. The crystal used increases your power for listening to your heart’s instincts, and allows you to sleep peacefully. As with the rest, the stones are for good fortune.
IV’s Model also contains amethyst, which has the cosmic aura of healing the heart, increasing its instincts, and quiet sleep. The crystals are a self-expression of energy and stimulation. The stones, they’re for good luck.
Ko-ki’s Model is last on the list, and it’s a jade bracelet. The crystal protects against disasters, and brings good fortune. The stones give a bigger power up to good luck.
There is also an option where you can choose the custom version, which means instead of the gems that the members have chosen, you can put in your own birthstone.
All types cost 5,250 yen each, and will be available for sale only until March 6th through MALULANI HAWAII.

Awesome news for fans in Singapore!
Just a few days ago, the organizers of the annual Sundown Festival announced their first group of performing artistes for the concert, that is ViViD.
The Sundown Festival 2011 concert will take place at the F1 Pit Area on Nov 26th.
So far the lineup and the ticketing details for the concert are yet to be confirmed.

Certainly great news from ViViD. The band has announced today that they will be playing at 日本武道館 (Nippon Budokan). Date of this concert isn’t that close yet, though – ViViD LIVE 2012 「TAKE OFF ～Birth to the NEW WORLD～」 will take place on January 7th 2012. Tickets will cost 4,725 yen and sale starts on October 1st.
The band also announced a single release for their song 「BLUE」, which we talked here. This will be their 2nd major single and comes out July 13th. Further details aren’t available yet.

Awesome news for all ViViD fans!!
ViViD’s newest song [BLUE] will be the opening song for the anime BLEACH from April 12th on and their homepage has been updated with their newest look!
In has been announced on March 14thl, that ViViD’s new song “BLUE” will become the opening song for popular anime series “BLEACH”, which is still currently airing.
In vocalist Shin’s blog it could be read: “You probably all know this already… however, from April 12th, our new song will be the opening song for ‘BLEACH’!! Please make sure to check it out!”
Accordingly, fans will have the chance to listen to ViViD’s new song from April 12th, therefore if you got a chance, try not to miss it.

According to Music Japan Plus, PS Company announced on Shibuya O-EAST last night that they will be holding a special event during summer this year.

On January 19th, 2011, ViViD will be making their major debut with the release of their new single “[Yume] -Mugen no Kanata-”.
On this noteworthy day, the band will also be holding a “press conference directed at a global audience” at Harajuku Astro Hall. The conference will be aired via Ustream and on that day and you will be able to follow the happening from the MJP top page.

Also “THE ViViD TV SHOW” (not firm) will be on air which is planning to be a regular program of ViViD. Please use #vivid119 when you tweet.The exact time of the airing has not yet been announced, but the press conference itself is scheduled to start at 19:30h Japanese standard time.

* Free to attend press conference.
* Numbered tickets will be given from 15:00 in front of Astro Hall. Although, the number is limited (350 seats).
* One person can receive one ticket.
* You can start waiting from 14:30. Please do not come to the venue before.
* Drink fee 500 yen will be charged when entering the venue.
* Please come back to the venue which is on the numbered ticket. If you miss the time on the ticket, you will have to line up in the very end of the line.
* You can not take any photos, movies or record this event.
* If there is person do not fllow these rules, the event shall be cancelled. Thank you for your understanding.

Tiku mentioned about ViViD’s 1st major single 「「夢」～ムゲンノカナタ～」(「Yume」 ~mugen no kanata~) awhile ago.
The title song, 「「夢」～ムゲンノカナタ～」(「Yume」 ~mugen no kanata~) will be used as the ending theme for anime series, LEVEL E, that will be airing in Japan soon.
