What Happened to KEI of Viored?

what-happened-to-kei-of-viored

Hey guys, Ernie here. I’ve been itching to answer your questions again and they’re starting to pile up, so I thought I would try and get some of them answered for you! This question comes from Kles:

Q. What happened to viored members ? espacially KEI do you have any news of him? thanks.

A. Well, upon my research, I have discovered that KEI has actually retired from the music scene, so we won’t be seeing him anymore unfortunately.

As for the other members, Nagi is currently in the band Sel’m. You can visit their home page here. As for their drummer, Kou, it also appears that he as retired from the music scene. As for Yuichi and Seiya, they were in a session band for a short amount of time called Chulla, whom have already seized activity, but they did manage to release 2 live sold singles. However, Yuichi is already currently in another session band called OX.

I hope this answers your question, Kles. Thanks for sending it in. As for the rest of you, you know what you need to do.

Random Fact of the Day

random-fact-of-the-day

Yuuichi, formerly of Viored, admitted that he’s just not good at keeping in touch with people!

When Yuuichi and Byou did an interview together, Yuuichi admitted that while Byou contacts him, he often can’t be bothered to contact people.

Yuuichi: I thought, “Isn’t he [Byou] loyal”. But doesn’t Byou-kun’s appearance give the impression that he’s the kind of person who just can’t be bothered? For me, it seems like I’m the kind of person who’s the other way around… but I just can’t be bothered to contact people.

I’m just as bad. I’m bad at replying to people. I create replies in my head and think I send them, but then I never do… then I get angry when they don’t respond to me.

People should be able to read my mind.

What about you ST readers? Are you a prompt replier?

Random Fact of the Day

random-fact-of-the-day

Today’s random fact is about Seiya, who used to the bassist for both Viored and A. Turns out he may be just a little bit dramatic. When asked what he would be doing if he wasn’t in a band, he replied:

If those were the circumstances, I’d be dying in a ditch!

Hopefully he’ll be back into a new band soon! We don’t want to see anything horrible like that happen to him! ^^’

HenzeL’s oneday revival!

henzels-oneday-revival

Since this year seems to be the year of revival lives, we might as well add one more to the list!
HenzeL has announced that on May 3rd at Takadanobaba AREA, they’ll be having a one day revival live.

The details are not yet fixed, and will be announced in the future.

The members of HenzeL were:
Vocals - 結希☆ (Yuki)
Guitar - くり (Kuri)
Bass - えな (Ena)
Drums - 圭大 (Keita) … who went on to be 洸 (Kou) in Viored

Source: BMA, Yuki’s Blog

HenzeL was a really fun band, and I was kind of disappointed that more of the members didn’t go on to another band. Anyways, I’m glad to see they’re doing a revival live, even if it’s just for one day.

Viored’s decision is revealed.

vioreds-decision-is-revealed

Well, after all the waiting it was finally announced that バイオレット (Viored) will be disbanding in February. The reason is that the vocalist 螢 (Kei), near the end of last year, said that he wanted to leave the band due to personal reasons. They had various discussions, but by the end of the year they couldn’t reach 螢 (Kei) at all.

Since Viored is the five original members, they feel that the best move to make is to disband. Their final live will be their oneman on February 23rd at Takadanobaba AREA with the four remaning members, 優一 (Yuuichi), Nagi, seiya and 洸 (Kou). The live will be called “Chaos” and it opens at 6:00, begins at 6:30. Tickets are 2500 yen for those who pre-order, 3000 yen if you purchase on the day of the live. They go on sale on January 20th.

They thank all the fans and people connected to the band for giving them support, despite the short amount of time they were in activity and hope that everyone will cheer them on until the end.

They’ve each written comments on the OHP about the disbanding.
I just skimmed them, so this isn’t a sentence by sentence translation, but you can get the gist. Aside from the things pointed out here, they all say they’re sorry.

優一 (Yuuichi) starts by saying that 螢 (Kei) was in poor physical condition and although that was conveyed before, that they apologize for the ambiguous announcement that was on the OHP over the past few days. He also says that he didn’t think their live on the 24th of December would be the final live with the five members, and he feels sad and indecisive about the whole affair. He also apologizes to the fans for making everyone worry. He hasn’t made any sort of arrangements for the future yet, but hopes to have some decisions made by their final. He also thanks the fans who have supported him especially on the new path of him moving from a drummer to a guitarist.

Nagi also apologizes for the abruptness of the announcement and goes on to say that there are still many parts of him that don’t really understand, but after various discussions this was the result that took place. He also says that there will be people who all think differently about it and those who won’t understand. That he has personal things that he’d like to say about 螢 (Kei), but he won’t write it in the journal. However, he does say that he wants to say “Are you okay with how things are with the fans that really like you, and those who really like Viored?”. Which makes it seem like Nagi took it pretty hard, not that the others didn’t, but he seems the most openly emotional about it.

seiya wrote that he honestly feels mortified about the wait and how things played out, but there’s nothing that can be done about it. He says that there wasn’t a lot of time between accepting the reality and making the decision, but the members, office and finally himself are starting to face forward.

Finally, 洸 (Kou) has a really long apology basically restating all the facts and what… has been said already 螢 (Kei) withdrew, this announcement is late, this is the shape everything took, sorry for making you worry). He also says that he’s not sure if he’ll be able to accept or understand 螢 (Kei)’s reasons for leaving the band (which means it must have been more than just a poor physical condition), but their disbanding is the ultimate result that has come out of it.

Looks like there was a lot of drama going on.
I read some people on 2ch saying that 螢 (Kei) had just run off.
It’s really hard to read something like this about a band that you really liked and respected, and even worse because I thought reasonably highly of 螢 (Kei).

Anyways. I’m sorry this was really long.
And I wish the best to all of the boys in whatever they pursue in the future. I also hope that all their fans will continue to support them despite the way things turned out this time around.

Viored cancels their lives

viored-cancels-their-lives

Today doesn’t seem to be going very well in terms of news.
バイオレット (Viored) has cancelled three of their lives; the one at Takadanobaba AREA on the 13th, at Shibuya O-WEST on the 31st and at Nagoya E.L.L on February 20th. A reason as to why they cancelled the lives wasn’t given on the OHP, and they will announce their future plans as soon as they have been decided.

Yuuichi posted in his journal saying that he’s sure there are a lot of fans who are anxious and worried about the news, and that he’s very sorry for that and the way things have played out. He says that he cannot yet explain the circumstances, but to please wait.

Seiya wrote saying that there is nothing he can do but apologize for the abrupt cancellation.

Kou also posted saying that it is inexcusable to all the fans who were looking foward to seeing them and for the abrupt news which is probably causing a lot of worry and strain on the fans. He also says to check the OHP or his blog in the future for what is to come.

Well, none of that sounds very positive does it. I like Viored, partially because I’ve liked all the members from their previous bands, so I’d be pretty disappointed if they decided to disband. Let’s hope that whatever the situation is they’re able to work through it.

I’ve been reading a few rumours and a lot of fans seem to think it’s Kei’s fault. Someone also said that there’s a problem within the members… as in they have trust issues with each other. We’ll see. We’ll see.

Yuuichi (Viored) x Byou (SCREW) – Visual kei Talk

yuuichi-viored-x-byou-screw-visual-kei-talk

This interview originally appeared in Cure Vol. 42 and features the vocalist for sCREW, Byou, as well as Yuuichi who at the time was in Viored. (They unfortunately disbanded in February of 2008).

Yuuichi (Viored) x Byou (SCREW)
Visual Kei Talk

These bands, who both have the common feature of purple as their band colour, will have a twoman on February 17th at AREA.  So, we requested an interview with Yuuichi (Viored / Guitar) and Byou (SCREW / Vocals). The year 2007 will surely be the showdown of these two bands that are carrying the new era of the visual kei scene. Don’t take your eyes away!

Interviewer: First, your relationship. When was the very first time that you met?

Byou: It was February of last year, wasn’t it? Although, we still haven’t ever hung out together…

Yuuichi: You don’t want to hang out with me…

Byou: Nonono, it’s not like that (Laughs) We’re good at keeping in touch, but I guess we’re just busy.

Yuuichi: When you’re in an interview, your character changes, eh? (Laughs)

Byou: Hmm, I wonder (Laughs)

Interviewer: Lately you’ve been doing a lot of things like multiple band lives, right?

Byou: Yeah, lately there’s lots of them.

Interviewer: Also, for the colours of both your bands, “Purple” is a common feature.

Byou: We’ve definitely come to wear it, haven’t we. (Laughs)

Yuuichi: You think so!? But it’s not like we’re always [intentionally] doing purple purple purple… why is that?

Byou: I wanted to ask you that today.

Together: Laughs

Yuuichi: Hasn’t the number of bands with colours in their names increased!? I guess it’s kind of like Green day and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. If it’s red or something like that, it somehow seems like the Power Rangers; don’t you hate that? (Laughs) !? So now “Viored” is the only one that has the best sound to it. “Bio*” is life, and “ret”* is “red”, as in the colour red. When you mix these together, it’s like “The signs of crimson”… so whichever one it is, the type of colour is actually  pretty close to being red!

Byou: We’re the same…

Yuuichi: Liar. (Laughs)

Interviewer: Well, what about SCREW’s purple?

Byou: SCREW is the dark part that is in hidden in the heart of each person, it also means vomiting toxins, and the colour of these toxins are probably purple. I also thought it was easier to understand by having a band colour.

Yuuichi: You’re a guy with twisted thoughts, arent you…. Kukuku (Laughs)

Interviewer: Yuuichi-kun, what do you see SCREW as?

Yuuichi: For about a year, I was away [from the scene], so during this time I didn’t really know much about this scene. Honstly, until Viored started,  I didn’t really know anything about the surrounding bands, however, even under those circumstances I had heard things about SCREW from time to time. The first time I saw them was at a multiple band live, and I thought aren’t they good!?

Byou: I thought it was a joke, but when we met at one of the multiple band lives, he told me that I was cool.

Yuuichi: It was a joke. (Laughs) I’m lying, I’m lying! I think that Byou-kun is cool. I can’t really give compliments and stuff…

Interviewer: Is he a vocalist that you admire?

Yuuichi: There are tons of vocalists in the world, but there are very few that are within the range of my ideal image of a vocalist. Ahh, I want to have a chance to understand this topic more deeply. However, I gotta say I don’t really get why this sort of conversation is with me

Byou: Yuuichi-sama is really malicious (Laughs)

Yuuichi: Huh?

Byou: You are. (Laughs) See, even at a multiple band live, there are a lot of things that Viored does before us.

Yuuichi: So, because of that you’re saying I’m malicious, master (Laughs) ?

Byou: It’s because I can’t see it coming. Even though I prepare for it, it takes time. Although honestly I haven’t been able to see him live even once…  he’s probably cool, right? (Laughs)

Yuuichi: Mm, what? That’s good enough (Laughs) ?

Byou: From now on, make me to study more and more.

Yuuichi: We really seem like we don’t get along at all, don’t we!? (Laughs)

Byou: I want to get along better!!

Interviewer: Do you have any sort of feeling of rivalry?

Byou: Not at all, it feels like Yuuichi-sama is my younger brother.

Yuuichi: That’s what I thought. (Shy smile) But yeah, there really isn’t any sense of rivalry. That has both good and bad meanings. Our parts are different, and it’s like we’re always studying. I think that we should be able to absorb various aspects from each other. As for a single artist, this so-called target of absorption, isn’t out of reach..

Interviewer: Do you normally contact each other to hang out?

Yuuichi: I get in touch with him, but he never replies to me…

Byou: It’s the exact opposite! (Laughs) I do too.

Yuuichi: Yeah, that’s it. (Laughs) I thought, “Isn’t he loyal”. But doesn’t Byou-kun’s appearance give the impression that he’s the kind of person who just can’t be bothered? For me, it seems like I’m the kind of person who’s the other way around… but I just can’t be bothered to contact people.

Interviewer: My impression was that you guys are two completely different types of artists. But it’s also like within that, there are some things that you both have in common.

Yuuichi: With the way things are now, it’s not like we have an incredibly tight relationship, but it’s not a bad relationship either. We get along , so from talking and so on, I get the impression that I want to take that chance and become better friends, you know?

Interviewer: On February 17th, at AREA you have a two man live, right?

Yuuichi: Yes, we do, don’t we. As expected…

Interviewer: How did you decide on the two man?

Byou: For a while now I’ve wanted to do a two man tour.

Yuuichi: We also talked about doing a tour together. If we were going to do that, we wanted to visit several places and have the final in Tokyo, but right now the schedules of our bands don’t match up, so for the time being we’re only having one live in Tokyo. If we get the chance, we also want to do a tour together in more places.

Interviewer: Well, at least for now you have this one day where the wish of wanting to do something together has come true, right?

Yuuichi: I’m really looking forward to it! I guess you could also say it’s like Viored VS SCREW, and we’ll continue on with this impression. But before that, both of us were at very different places, and I guess you could say we kind of took advantage of each other, and reached a deeper place. More than having a 100% Viored VS SCREW atmosphere, I feel like it’ll be more festival like, and I’m looking forward to that.

Byou: For SCREW it’s the first time we’ll do a two man.

Interviewer: Is it also Viored’s first?

Yuuichi: It’s our first!

Byou: Since it has that kind of significance behind it, I’m looking forward to it. It’s also time to show ourselves!

Yuuichi: What!? There’s a booger?

Byou: (Laughs) We’ll show ourselves.

Yuuichi: Oooh (Laughs). Please show yourselves…. And we will do so in return!

Interviewer: So in a sense, it’s a “Purple Showdown” isn’t it.

Yuuichi: Yeah, it is. Well, I guess it’s like whichever one loses better throw their purple away….

Byou: We already had this kind of conversation, didn’t we?

Interviewer: Yeah… (Laughs).

Byou: I also think we should do a session band.

Yuuichi: You’ve decided?

Byou: I haven’t decided yet…

Yuuichi: This guy… (Laughs) He’s been saying this kind of thing for about two months now and when we meet up at the multiple band lives, I think, “isn’t he going to say something to me soon?” but he hasn’t said anything at all, and here I am waiting. Do your work please.

Byou: Please just deal with it.

Yuuichi: Hahaha (Laughs)

Interviewer: You’ll also probably be able to show your image being on stage in a session band, right?

Yuuichi: It seems more individualistic, doesn’t it. Since I’ve joined Viored I’ve become a guitarist and at the front, and it’s this thing where, as expected, I’m putting my skills into it. With the vocalist at my right side, there’s so much of aura that emits from him, and I really enjoy that, you know?

Interviewer: Well, please show much enthusiasm at the two man.

Byou: In the meantime, we’ll do lives that have even more spirit than KFC at Christmas time, and at the twoman, I’ll make Viored change their name…

Yuuichi: Huh? What? What?! (Laughs)

Byou: Now that we’re going to be doing it, it’s not a contest, but moreover a live where we can be considered cool.

Yuuichi: The trends move pretty quickly in this kind of scene, don’t they? In spite of that, I think that wherever you go, having contact like arguing and whatnot is indespensible, and if you allow yourself, there is this stubborn way of doing things, which is something I don’t want. However, right now the band’s objective is that we want the fans to come and see us, and personally, because we have limited time that I don’t want to waste, I really want to enjoy it. The number one thing is for fans of SCREW and fans of Viored to have fun, right?

Byou: What an adult…

Yuuichi: Really?

Byou: My words sound so childish don’t they…

Yuuichi: That’s okay, isn’t it!? And it’s different from your character. But, it would be good if with this chance the two bands could make their own trend. So to that extent, of course I personally think it’s natural that Viored continues upwards, however, above all I think that together the bands will be able to continue to be at their best.

Interviewer: Please take advantage of this conversation to become friends. (Laughs)

Yuuichi: You want that to happen, right? . . . I hope it does. You have to answer by getting along with me too. Since I’ll live up to Byou-kun. (Laughs)

Byou: Isn’t it more like the opposite of that (Laughs). Let’s go drinking together, okay? When you don’t drink, you don’t talk as much… and I want to get to know various things.

Yuuichi: You have a strong alcohol tolerance?

Byou: Yeaaah, I guess it depends on my mood.

Yuuichi: Those are moody words.

Byou: But I don’t think I’m weak though, you know?

Yuuichi: I look like I have a strong tolerance, but that’s totally wrong.

Byou: Well, I’ll tease the hell out of you.

Yuuichi: What a sadist, eh (Laughs)

Interviewer: Well, when you two become friends, let’s have another conversation. (Laughs)

Translator’s Notes
* He’s talking about Viored; they spell it in katakana as ” バイオレット”. In Japanese, there is technically no “v”, so a lot of the loan words that start with v, start with a b instead. The first red, he spelt in katakana (レッド) and the second, he used the Japanese for it ( 赤).
