D’ray members form session band

It was just last week when we posted about the disbandment of D’espairsRay. Many people emailed us with excitement, claiming there was a new band but after looking into ZERO’s blog this is only a mere session band. The session is called LUV PARADE and will have the the three members with guest vocals by TAKA (defspiral / ex. THE UNDERNEATH) – who isn’t HIZUMI but does have some nice vocal talent!!

Four of the members of the Underneath and formerly TRANSTIC NERVE, who disbanded on May 3rd after more than ten years of activities together, have gone on to create a new band called 「defspiral」!
They do have an OHP setup, but only a splash page is available. However, the members of the band are:
Vocals - TAKA
Guitar - MASATO
Bass - RYO
Drums - MASAKI
They have all relocated their blogs, so keep up with them by checking them out at their new location (click their names to go there).
On May 26th they’ll be releasing a single called 「DIVE INTO THE MIRROR」 which is coming out in two types. The title track on the release will be used as the theme song for 「仮面ライダードラゴンナイト」 (Kamen Rider Dragon Night) which is broadcasted on morning and late-night TV in the Kantou and Kansai regions.
With the release, there is a DVD version which costs 1890 yen and and CD only version for 1260 yen.
On June 9th, a single which includes a song titled 「Double-Action Strike form」 will be released. RYO worked on the composition for the piece, and the song will be used as the theme song for the movie, 「EPISODE BLUE 派遣イマジンはNEW トラル」 (EPISODE BLUE Haken Imagine NEW Toraru) that is part of the 「仮面ライダー×仮面ライダー×仮面ライダー THE MOVIE 超電王トリロジー」 (Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider x Kamen Rider THE MOVIE Choudenou Triology) will be released. The movie will be out on June 5th.

the Underneath Memorial Photo Book

Back in January, we posted about the Underneath’s decision to disband on May 3rd of this year.
The band has announced that they will be releasing a memorial photobook which will contain a compilation of photos from lives, off-shot photos of the members, never before seen ‘private’ photos and individual comments from each of the members. Those who buy the book, can also have their name imprinted into it.
The title is 「the Underneath Memorial Photo Book」, and it will be A4 size and contain 40 full colour pages for 5250 yen. They are accepting orders for the book from now until May 10th, however, the books will not be sent out until the end of July, as it will feature photos from their final performance.
Orders can be placed online (here) or at their lives on April 29th at Nagoya ell. or May 3rd at Shibuya O-WEST. There is no option for overseas ordering on the form, so any overseas fans may have to use a shopping service to purchase it.

the Underneath have announced that they will be disbanding on May 3rd, 2010, after their live at Shibuya O-WEST.
The following announcement has been posted on their OHP.
To all of our fans,
the Underneath has been active snce January 1st, 2008, however, we are now announcing that we have decided to disband after our performance on May 3rd, 2010, at Shibuya O-WEST.
We truly thank all the fans who have been cheering us on thus far, during our 13 years of activity, and still through our activities as the Underneath.
The members are all grateful from the bottom of their hearts.Furthermore, to show our gratitude to all of our fans, we will be having a disbanding tour.

Thank you.
Even though saying farewell makes you lonesome, I feel that there are still many things that I have to do.

You know how on most band OHP’s they have the option to go into the PC OHP or the OHP set up for mobile devices? There have been countless times I have accidentally hit the mobile OHP but today I did it on purpose and stumbled upon something great!
It’s a live titled VJ-3 HALLOWEEN PARTY 1st and will be held at none-other than HEAVEN’S ROCKさいたま新都心VJ-3 [HEAVEN'S ROCK Saitama Shintoshin VJ-3], hence the VJ-3 in the title. The line up includes Duel Jewel, everset, the Underneath and lynch. Tickets will cost 3800 yen in advance and 4300 the day of, going on sale September 13th. Interestingly enough however, the live date is set for October 30th, not Halloween day!
Oh, and in case you were wondering whose OHP it was, it was lynch. They now have a mobile site set up!!

Big Ern doesn’t even know who to credit for this bulletin on myspace. Everyone and their mother apparently posted about it. I guess I could make this ridiculously long list of everyone that posted it…but you get the point. Everyone also mentions tour dates and venue info coming soon. Anyways…here it is:
The past few years we have seen a sudden boom of the Japanese Culture in America. For example; anime, music, fashion and technology. When someone initially analyzes a band, they usually first notice what style of clothing they are wearing. From there on they can tell whether or not the band is a certain kind of genre. In the music business, fashion is one of the factors that decides whether a band is going to be successful or not. What we want to showcase is not just the fact that clothes make the band, but the band embodies and defines the fashion that also helps define them.

Marbell will be opening for The Underneath at Otakon at Baltimore, tickets and more info can be found here at the official con site. Remember Otakon is August 8-10 so get your tickets!
Suicide Ali seems to be booked for PMX in LA! They will be at the con on November 11th, I found this info through their site here but when I went to the official PMX site it seems they haven’t updated since last year so I am not sure if they are performing or just having a meet and greet.

Teaming up again

MUCC, D’espairsRay and the Underneath are teaming up for a three man “triumphant return”!
As many people know the three bands participated in the American tour “taste of CHAOS”. Upon returning home, they wanted to convey the excitement of the tour to their fans in Japan, so they have hurriedly made the decision to hold a live on June 29th at Kawasaki CLUB CITTA.
The live is called “American Syndrome” and costs 4200 yen. Tickets go on sale starting June 15th .

hide Memorial Summit

Well, more news about the hide Memorial Summit!
The list of the participating bands (and the days they will be playing) has been revealed, including some news that will excite a lot of fans — Phantasmagoria will be reuniting one more day to perform at the summit.
On May 3rd we have:
hide with Spread Beaver, T.M.Revolution, DJ OZMA, RIZE, Maximum the Hormone, hurdy gurdy, Phantasmagoria, Versailles, MarBell and DaizyStripper
And on May 4th:
X JAPAN, LUNA SEA, Dir en grey, OBLIVION DUST, MUCC, D’espairsRay, the Underneath and heidi.
Everyone who attends the summit will receive a wristband as a present. The summit opens at noon and begins at 2:00. It’s incredibly expensive to go, the cost for one day is 14800 yen (about $150) and for both days, 25000 yen (around $250).

… does anyone else find it maybe just a bit odd that X JAPAN is only playing one of the two days? I would have thought they’d play on both… Another thing that surprises me, is that there’s no Miyavi listed. I’ve seen in forums tons of fans saying they were sure he’d be there… and yet, he’s not. Unless of course he ends up being that sixth guitarist YOSHIKI was talking about… One more that’s awesome but surprising to see is DaizyStripper.
What does everyone else think of the lineup?

Both D’espairsRay and THE UNDERNEATH (used to be known as TRANSTIC NERVE) are having American releases at FYE.com and FYE store! AND apparently if you pick up the US release of Mirror or Spiral Staircase on 3.18 you get a free poster of the band! Both bands are on the Taste of Chaos Tour along with MUCC.
