Nama Mail is an internet service that has been gaining some considerable ground in the visual kei world lately. Created by entertainment company Index, it sounds as though the service has actually been around for a little while catering to Japanese idol fans, but added visual kei artists to the lineup on April 19th. The site offers its service for 27 bands, meaning more than 100 bandmen.
So what is it?
Nikkansports reported, the day after the visual kei branch opened:
A fee-based membership service where mail is delivered in real-time from the very cell phones of the artists themselves. (Monthly fee of 315 yen per bandman.) With the artists’ own desired timing, “Nama Mail,” with attached photos, or “Nama Voice,” with attached audio messages will be delivered to registered fans. Since fans can reply to the messages they receive in real-time, they can convey their own feelings directly to the artists.
Participating visual kei artists are:
HERO, Avidit, Kiryu, Royz, FEST VAINQUEUR, KISAKI, DuelJewel, Black Gene For the Next Scene, A, CELL, MEJIBRAY, Griever, Carat, THE RHEDORIC, Gakido, Hana Shonen Baddies, the Sherry, LOST ASH, Panorama Kyokou Xenon, BIOSPHIA, cocklobin, Misaruka, AMARANYX, JokArt au Legal, Lycaon, One Star, and Tokyo Quartet.
That’s quite a list! Some of the artists included in the service have filmed short ads, like Lycaon’s below, that have been uploaded to the site’s official YouTube channel.
Unfortunately, even after checking out the service’s (brief) FAQ, we can’t seem to find any information as to whether it’s possible for fans outside of Japan to sign up for the service. If any readers have tried signing up, or want to sign up, let us know if you’ve been successful!
In any case, what do you think? Would you sign up for this? Is the price reasonable? We’re curious to hear your opinions.

Introducing: Jupiter

We hesitated a bit with posting this information since it was brought to our attention on April Fool’s Day, but now we can confirm that this is, indeed, true!
Jupiter is a 5-member band with Universal Music Japan. The branch they are debuting under is more directed towards Western music and an international audience, so it’s rumored that their activities are more directed globally.
The line-up will seem very familiar to many of you; with the exception of the vocalist (ZIN), all of the previous members of Versailles are a part of Jupiter.

Information on their OHP right now is scarce, but they have confirmed their first single release will be in Summer 2013 titled “Blessing of the Future” under the record label Thunderball667.
Their first live will be on April 17th at Takadanobaba AREA. They have a couple of others too, so check out the information if your interest is piqued yet:

Name Meto’s Bear

MEJIBRAY has started taking submissions for a name for drummer Meto’s yet-unnamed teddy bear. It’s easy enough to submit your own idea, so why not give it a try? The headline of the contest is “Please Give Meto’s Teddy a Name,” and on the band’s website they have asked fans to “please give Meto’s teddy a name; please become its godparent.”
If you’re interested, all you have to do is send an e-mail with your suggestion to info@mejibray.com — but it might be prudent to mention the contest name 『 メトのくまちゃんに名前を付けてください。 』 in the subject line!
Submissions opened on March 3rd and will be accepted until 8pm JST on May 31st. The winning name will be announced on June 9th at the band’s Akasaka BLITZ performance — but we’re sure the announcement will make its way to the internet as well.
Go forth and submit, and may the best name win!

Fantastic news for Mejibray fans! Just after news was released on their upcoming single, Mejibray released more exciting news: Mejibray will be holding a short One Man tour starting in May. Starting in Tokyo, 「BLITZ of MESSIAH」will hit 10 venues over 2 months. All tickets will go on general release on March 30th, but you can enter a special lottery for the next two weeks via Diskgarage.

Holy cow, this is going to be a fun event to go to if you have tickets! 21 bands will be bringing in the New Year on December 31st at the Takadanobaba AREA, one of the prime livehouses for Visual-Kei music. The line up is extensive and impressive (the whole list is below) and doors will open at 11:15 (AM) and the live will start at 11:45. Tickets sold out completely a few weeks ago, but due to popular demand you can pick up a few extra tickets through L-Tike for a very limited time for ¥4000.

After the recent release of their single 「EMILY」, MEJIBRAY have announced two new singles for the new year.

Crazy★shampoo is ready to face their next challenge this winter with a three-stop oneman tour!

a-nation musicweek:V-NATION line-up revealed

a-nation musicweek is a week-long festival that brings together many bands from several music genres. This year, they have announced a V-NATION event which consists solely of visual kei artists! And the line-up has just been revealed!
August 4 @ SHIBUYA-AX
BORN / ダウト (D=OUT) / exist†trace / HERO / Jin-Machine / MEJIBRAY / SCREW / v[neu]
Tickets to V-NATION are 1,500 yen.
This is not the only a-nation event that will see the participation of visual kei artists. the GazettE is also scheduled to play at the BAND NATION event being held at Yoyogi Taiikukan, also on August 4th. Tickets are 6,800 yen.
August 12th will see VAMPS and SADS on the Yoyogi Taiikukan stage for the ROCK NATION event. The tickets to this live, which marks the final day of a-nation, cost 7,800 yen.
The general sale for all three events starts on June 30th.

Oneman tour and two-month consecutive releases for MEJIBRAY

MEJIBRAY fans have a lot to look forward to the next few months! Not only do they have several oneman lives scheduled, they also plan to release two consecutive new singles, a live-limited single and a second press of their mini-album 「Slivers.exe」!
The second press of MEJIBRAY’s first mini-album 「Slivers.exe」, originally released in December of 2011, is scheduled to drop on July 4th. It costs 2,100 yen and contains the five tracks from the first press, as well as one additional track.
A live-only single titled 「トロシナ」 (toroshina) will folow on August 31st. Pricing and tracklist details haven’t been revealed yet.
September 5th marks the release of the first of two consecutive singles for the band. 「Sadisgate」 will come in three types:

MEJIBRAY’s tour agenda is every bit as busy as their release schedule! They have three consecutive oneman lives at Ikebukuro BlackHole planned for the end of August-begin of September:

Tickets to each live are 3,300 yen and go on sale on June 30th.
This is only a taste of a longer oneman tour! Kicking off in October, 「AVENGE BLAZE CIRCUIT」 counts 8 stops before the tour final on November 11th.

Great news for アヲイ (Awoi) fans! The band has announced a second press of their 2010 selection album 「葵」 (aoi)!
「葵～THE SECOND～」 (aoi~THE SECOND~) hits the stores on July 25th and costs 2,520 yen. It will contain the re-recorded versions of the tracks present in the 2010 edition, plus two songs from other previous releases.

The third instalment on the CRUSH! series of 90′s visual rock cover songs has been announced! As the title suggests, this released will be centred around love songs. It comes out on June 27th and costs 3,150 yen.
Interesting to note is that one of the bands participating is comprised of members of different bands! It’s called CRASH 49 and the members are: ν［NEU］’s みつ (Mitsu) on vocal, ギルド (Guild)’s YOSHIHIRO and OZ’s Aki on guitar, NoGoD’s 華凛 (Karin) on bass and D’s HIROKI on drums.

New mini album and oneman lives for LIPHLICH

April 13th was a date with mixed feelings for LIPHLICH fans, marking not only their first oneman but also the departure of their guitarist. However, LIPHLICH has no intention of slowing down! They have announced the release of their first mini-album, as well as the dates of their second and third oneman lives!
There are no details about the mini-album yet, except that it will come out some time in July. We’ll keep you updated!
In July, LIPHLICH will go on a short tour titled The Pink Parade Picture Show! It will take them to Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.
