Just to counter-balance all the sad news on band break ups, I’ve thought it’d be nice and uplifting to report on all these revivals & reunions! This next one is a big one I’m personally incredibly stoked about.
ZIGZO, something of a minor super band with ex-members from MALICE MIZER, L’Arc~en~Ciel, and BY-SEXUAL, called it quits a decade ago. But just around the time of the new year information began to spring up about a revival, thanks to a Tweet by drummer Sakura. Now, it’s official — ZIGZO will have a reunion show at Akasaka BLITZ on March 17, 2012, exactly 10 years and 1 day after their dissolution — and that may not be all.
mFound speculates there may be more than a one-day reunion show in the works for the band, who recently revamped their website to include new photos, and who have named the March 17th show “THE 2ND SCENE ZIGZO”, a suggestive title considering the last live was dubbed “THE LAST SCENE ZIGZO”. They are also set to release a CD at this show titled “ZIGZO 20110620″, a 10-track rehearsal live disc recorded at a “secret rehearsal” on June 20, 2011.
Fans and reporters alike expect more news from the band, but we may all have to wait until March 17. I personally can’t possibly overstate my excitement!

Back in January of this year, a compilation album called 『CRUSH!-90’s V-Rock best hit cover songs-』 was released.
On November 23rd, they’ll be releasing a second compilation album of the same name and concept!
The title is 『CRUSH!2-90’s V-Rock best hit cover songs-』 and it will cost 3000 yen for sixteen tracks.

Did you know Malice Mizer had a session drummer after the death of Kami? Shue never officially joined the band but did play drums for the group.

Yu~ki x Mana tour

Thanks for the emails pointing this out!! According to many live reports of Dis Inferno VII, Moi dix Mois has a few news to share with their fans. First off, the group will be touring again during the summer – the tour will be called Deep Sanctuary. Just like last year, Moi dix Mois will be touring with a guest.
Since last year was with Közi many Malice Mizer fans were happy! This year the guest was announced as fellow ex Malice Mizer bandmate – Yu~ki!! No one is sure if he will be playing along side Moi dix Mois or have any solo work so I guess we’ll have to wait and see! No tour dates have been set but we do know it will take place in the Summer again.
Another bit of cool news is that Moi dix Mois will finally be making a new release. Mana is currently working on a new Moi dix Mois album which is also set to be released sometime this year.
Looks like Mana has a few things lined up for 2010 – anyone else excited??! I am so happy Yu~ki is becoming active again!!

M of Art Cube or Kazune as he was known back in his Brain Hacker days, used to play keyboards for some of the live shows for Malice Mizer! He was a support member for only a year since Malice Mizer disbanded.
I found that pretty cool.

Kozi worked on a soundtrack for the book and project called Izayoi No Tsuki. The cd that came along with the book contains music that is similar to carnival music and his own artwork and photography.
Have you read the book or listen to the soundtrack? I actually like it alot! Any book you’ve read that should have had a soundtrack to?

Kozi has a new family member added to his home. Not sure if many know but in July, Kozi’s 14 year old cat Zaku, passed away. Kozi was sad after he died but knew his other cat needed a play mate and so what did he get for Lala to play with? A hamster O_O;;;;; The hamster is named Kikka and gets along with Lala pretty well it seems.
Its pretty cute that those two get along so well!

Kozi has an unique personality. He is actually very obsessed with round scary eyes!!! If you look at images of his home you can see eye balls everywhere…well eyeballs and those spooky dolls!

Hey lets have a “where are they now” moment! I’m sure most of you Malice Mizer fans know that their first singer was Tetsu but how many of you know where he went after he left the band?
He was in Zigzo, then Mega8Ball and now in the band Nil. Nil actually has a new album coming out next month! It will be their 5th full album. His style has changed alot from his vk days.

We’re going back in tiiiiiiiiime to the dawn of Malice Mizer days!!! ooOOOOooooo When the band was being interviewed back in the day Mana claimed to like horror like 60s films (B films – aka low budget films) and classical composer Bach while Kami said he liked melons and stuff? … and Kozi’s answer? “Well I like melons too!”
Silly…
Melons are usually bigger than me. But I have tried to balance on one before. Not good…

One of my favorite things to know about is how bands get their start. Many members start off as roadies to other bands. Like Hitomi from Moran. Guess who he was a roadie for? Malice Mizer!

Have you ever seen this picture with Kozi and Yu~ki with this strange yet intriguing man? Who is it you ask? Its none other than the great magical Susumu Hirasawa! You guys might know of his group from the late 70s called P-Model. His style is more of a pop sound but he is important to the vk world, you see he had a bit of visual flair and his music had elements of techno and computer generated sounds. Listen to some of his music, can you tell that he was an influence to some bands?

This was a separated at birth that was sent in to us by Stan. Actually, I couldn’t resist posting this one because of Gary Oldman. He is pretty much awesome, something a lot of people can agree on. Any reason to post about Gary is good enough for me (Hideko would agree on that). Anyways…here it is:

buried with the light

The personal book, by ex-deadman’s 眞呼 (Mako) that we posted about yesterday, has just become a little more interesting.
First, the title of the track that comes with the book is “buried with the light”, and both the music and lyrics were written by Mako. Furthermore, for the song there are guest musicians — on guitar and bass Kozi (ex-MALICE MIZER) and on manipulator Kazutoshi Yokoyama.
