LM.C – U.S. CD releases

LM.C - U.S. CD releases

JapanFiles announces LM.C full digital catalog plus two USA CD releases.

According to JRR:

April 27, 2009 – JapanFiles partners with Pony Canyon to present the full digital catalog of LM.C, plus two USA CD releases in May 2009.

The USA CD releases of SUPER GLITTER LOUD BOX and GIMMICAL IMPACT!! are available now for pre-order at the JapanFiles.com online CD store. Both CDs will include the original Japanese-language booklet and artwork (GIMMICAL IMPACT!! will also include a LMC sticker).

SUPER GLITTER LOUD BOX and GIMMICAL IMPACT!! will be available at Hot Topic stores nationwide and online at www.hottopic.com at the end of May (individual store dates will vary).

LMC.’s digital tracks are available on JapanFiles.com at 320 kbps (DRM-free).

LM.C was originally scheduled to perform live in May 2009 at A-Kon in Dallas, TX. Due to the recent concerns with swine flu, their appearance has since been canceled.

Yes, seems Hot Topic stores are going to be getting a couple LM.C CD US releases.
Although I personally would rather not buy Jrock/VK merchandise from Hot Topic, I may still buy another copy of the CDs, in hopes of helping Jrock sales in the US. I’m all for showing that there is a large overseas fan base for Jrock, especially for LM.C!

LM.C – GIMMICAL IMPACT!! album review

LM.C - GIMMICAL IMPACT!! album review

Here is a review of LM.C’s latest album GIMMICAL IMPACT!!

I’ve gone through and made little descriptions of each track on the album, except for the few tracks that were previously released, since they are not “new”. ^-^; And 30 second samples with 5 of the tracks.

Just a reminder, some of the options expressed here may not be those of the whole S-T staff or the site, so I am to blame. XD But, I always try to give a reason why I think something is what it is.
~Paisley

Track 1: Rainbow Magic Orchestra
At first, this sounded very similar to the Intro of LM.C’s first album GLITTER LOUD BOX, with the funny electronic voices and the “We Will Rock You” clapping and feet shuffling. But, soon the track went into a more Orchestra-like feel, with the electronic voices playing all through the violin and percussion instrumental. I could not really identify many of the instruments that were used/generated in this song, but it definitely was a strong reminder of how LM.C is able to fuse totally different sounds together so uniquely.

Track 2: CHEMICAL KINGTWOON

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

The first thing that is heard on this track is the sound of a gong, which instantly made me think of an Asian country, then the song instantly moves on into a more “punk/rock” sound with a keyboard and guitar starting up a beat. I found this song to be catchy and easy to sing along to. And once again, it is another example of how LM.C fuses sounds together; rock/elect. with a bit of an more traditional Asian twist.

Track 3: Bell the CAT
[Sounds the same as the past release of this single.]

Track 4: Galileo
A pretty standard rock/electronic opening to this track. But, don’t let that fool you; not even a minute into the song, Maya starts singing in a more “rapper-type” style. Then, he goes into slower, melodic singing. This alternates a bit through an awesome wave of guitar and such.
I personally have grown to enjoy Maya’s switch in gears in his singing. Fusing Rock/HipHop/Elect., as with some of LM.C’s past releases, is something I have learned to associate with their music and can identify them with.

Track 5: JOKER -my name is-

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

This was one of the most memorable tracks on the album for me, personally. It sounded instantly different from the previous tracks and was one of the songs that was stuck in my head after listening to it a few times. With a slightly playful rock sound, this track uses Maya’s slightly punkish vocals along with more electrical voices (that sounded different from the earlier ones). The “Laaa, La La La La”s were something to sing along to, as well.
Reminds me slightly of Miyavi’s (soloist) older works.

Track 6: cosmology
Totally Pop-ish. That was my first impression of this particular track and I was correct. But, its LM.C’s take of a slightly more Pop-sounding song, so I still found it enjoyable. The beat and the guitar (that can finally be heard at around 2:47), combine with Maya’s melodic vocals makes this a pretty sweet Soft Rock song.

Track 7: my girl

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Another slightly Pop-ish song. Although, I personally enjoyed this one a bit more, and it became one of my personal favorites on the album. The guitar and singing were catchy. And, yet again, reminds me a little bit of some of Miyavi’s softer songs.

Track 8: Sentimental PIGgy Romance
[Sounds the same as the past release of this single.]

Track 9: Room C [Interlude]
About 50 seconds worth of one of LM.C’s unique electronic instrumentals. Sounds like something bouncing/dripping, a clock ticking, a dog/wolf howling, all accompanied by a xylophone.

Track 10: JOHN
[Sounds the same as the past release of this single.]

Track 11: TABOO

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

One of the coolest-sounding song openings I’ve heard in a while. This track is another one of my favorites from the album. Awesome guitar, drums, electronic voice input, a little bit of turn-tables, and Maya’s singing is just as smooth as the rest of the song.

Track 12: Z-MAN

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Another personal favorite of mine. And, yet another song that reminds me of Miyavi’s older works somewhat. This has a more all-around rock sound to it. The chorus parts stand out to me a lot, although the whole track was done smoothly. Definitely a sing-along and dance-to track.

Track 13: LIAR LIAR
[Sounds the same as the past release of this single.]

Track 14: Love Me?

Another cool song opening. Reminds me of one of the opening theme songs for an anime I use to watch. I enjoyed this track very much as the last new song from LM.C that was on this album, the guitar and Maya’s singing brought a smile to my face. Pretty cute and catchy tune.

Track 15: 88
[Sounds the same as the past release of this single.]

Overall Score: 9/10
This album showcases LM.C’s style of music very well. Even though 5 of the tracks were previously released as singles, it’s still well worth the buy for any fan of LM.C. The newer songs mesh well with the older ones, making this an ideal album for hardcore fans of the band as well as newer fans. If you want to introduce someone to LM.C, this CD might be a great starting point. ^-^

LM.C’s new look

LM.C's new look

Recently, LM.C has changed their look again for their new album (which is going to be released tomorrow (Nov. 5th) and world-wide digitally).

I saw magazine photos of them a few days ago and I was pretty shocked… XD
I mean, I was thinking “Oh my god, please don’t tell me Maya is going to “gangsta rap” in their new PV…” But, once I saw the new PV (Chemical King-Twoon), I was so thankful that I was wrong! It wasn’t what I was thinking it was going to be because of their new look, for sure. XD
As an LM.C fan, I was not disappointed. ^^

Aren’t they cute? =3  Aiji’s hair was something to get use to, though. XD
