As we all know, 2013 is the 20th anniversary of the start of hide’s solo career, and his unfortunate passing 15 years ago on May 2nd. This year in celebration of his life, a special series of events will be taking place over the span of 2013 to 2014. Today, the first bit of information has been revealed — two new tribute cover albums are to be released, and the hide Museum will temporarily reopen across the country!
Six consecutive works to be released in 2013 make up the first shot of “Visual SPIRITS” with two albums simultaneously on sale!
Though 15 years have passed since his eternal rest began, hide—who continues to inspire countless Japanese musicians—will see in his “20th anniversary of solo works” in 2013 and his “50th anniversary of birth” in 2014 with the unfolding of the anniversary project, “hide ROCKET DIVE 2013-14.”
Continuing on from the 1999 release that recorded a million sales “hide TRIBUTE SPIRITS,” release of six consecutive works has been decided for 2013!

At the beginning of the month, HEADWAX, the group that manages most of hide’s postmortem affairs, announced a temporary closure of hide’s grave site as a result of instances of vandalism. The notice reads:
A request to everyone visiting hide’s grave
We truly thank you for always supporting hide.
We are grateful for the many people who come to hide’s grave every day.
Recently, there has been an incident involving intentional damage to hide’s gravestone with a sharp object.
The matter is being investigated as personal property damage.
Apart from this, there have unfortunately been recent reports of a portion of people not minding themselves,
including littering in the vicinity, speaking in boisterous voices, pouring alcohol on the gravestone, and carrying hide’s photograph away.
Should these circumstances continue, general access to hide’s grave will unfortunately close temporarily.
We ask for everyone’s cooperation in order to make visits to the site pleasant for everyone.
Furthermore, we would like to ask anyone who witnesses these kinds of incidents to please notify the respective hide official site.
HEADWAX ORGANIZATION CO.,LTD
It may seem like common sense to conduct oneself in a respectful manner at a grave site, but some patrons clearly need a reminder. HEADWAX has added a few requests in an effort to assure all visitors can have a pleasant experience when they visit.
※ Please do not enter the cemetery outside of opening hours
※ Please remove the vinyl wrapping from flowers before offering them
※ As the gravestone can be damaged by pouring alcohol or drinks on it, please refrain from doing so
※ As incense sticks may catch fire and cause accidents if many are lit at once, we ask for a limit of one stick per person
※ Please refrain from damaging the installation of the grave stone or offerings left by others
※ There are grave sites for others in the area. We ask for everyone’s cooperation in not speaking too loudly or littering on site
If you’re interested in visiting hide’s grave site, it can be found at Miura Reien in Miura City, Kanagawa.
Have you guys missed me? I have been in an Alien mood. I watched Alien and Species movies all weekend! I started to really like the art of H.R. Giger! You know who else was a fan of the artist? hide – he even had Screaming Mad George create a mask based on H.R. Giger’s WATCHGUARDIAN V sculpture for his cover art for Hide Your Face!!!
For those who don’t know, Scream Mad George (real name Joji Tani) is a very famous make up and FX artist who has worked in many famous horror flicks including Predator and Faust Poster. He also fronted the deathmetal band: The Mad. Amazing work! If you could have something designed by your idol – what would it be?

Kinda random, but a musical based on hide’s music is in production! The musical won’t hit the stage until Spring 2011 and will even have an appearance with J of LUNA SEA.
Actress Nao Minamisawa (20) will perform in her first stage musical next year. Titled “Pink Spider,” the rock-flavored production will only feature music by X JAPAN’s late guitarist hide.
The musical is named after hide’s single of the same name, originally released in 1998. While hide was alive, he had said that he wanted to work on a musical, and those feelings have finally been brought to fruition. In this original story, Minamisawa plays a high school student named Meru who matures as she deals with the differences between her ideal world and reality.
Minamisawa has participated in a local chorus club since 1st grade up until April of this year (singing as a mezzo-soprano), though it never involved rock music. Minamisawa reportedly turned down the role once, but the production team insisted that they needed her due to her acting ability. However, the part of Meru has been double-cast, so she will be sharing it with singer Hitomi Takahashi (21).
The other main role, a record shop employee, has been double-cast between Shinji Takeda (37) and Gota Watabe (24). LUNA SEA bassist J (40) will also make a guest appearance.
Aprroximately 20 of hide’s songs will be used in the musical, including the titular “Pink Spider” and “ROCKET DIVE.” Minamisawa will sing and dance to 5 or 6 of those songs, and she has already begun voice and muscle training for the part.
“Pink Spider” will be performed at The Globe Tokyo between March 8 and March 27.

I thought this might be of some interest to VK fans~
Here’s the MySpace bulletin that was recently posted about JSHOXX’s hide celebration this Sat.

Now, I have the utmost respect for hide and what he accomplished, and I know a lot of people were shocked by his passing ten years ago, and continue to mourn over the loss, but does anyone else find this along with the summit a little much?
While we’re speaking of hide, I was just browsing CD Japan and noticed the new edition of the “hide DAYS” book that they’re putting out. The CD Japan description reads:
Complete artist book from legendary Japanese musician hide. Includes article “Ani – hide (Older Brother – hide)” article from hide Museum General Director Yuji Matsumoto, history on the hide Museum, hide interview and live report, hide complete history and discography, interviews with kyo & TETSU, PATA, and I.N.A., complete recording and concert gear guide, and interviews with the next generation of artists to follow in the footsteps of hide.
The book costs 1600 yen and is a limited edition which comes out on April 10th.
Don’t want to miss out?
I don’t really know how to word this, but there will be a two month consecutive release in March and April of live music from hide.
The first CD comes out on March 19th and is entitled “PSYENCE A GO GO” and is three disk collection compilation of songs from their tour final at Yoyogi Ichitai Shisetsu. The speical privilege that comes with that release is a setlist from all the venues on the tour.
On April 23rd, “HIDE OUR PSYCHOCOMMUNITY” will be released. This one is a two disk collection of the songs that were performed at the first tour at the Yokohama Arena in 1994. For that release, you also get the tour setlists for the venues that were performed at on that tour.
All the songs have been remastered. If you buy both releases, then you’ll be put in a raffle for a CD present which contains an MC from the tour lives.
“PSYENCE A GO GO” costs 3800 yen and “HIDE OUR PSYCHOCOMMUNITY” is 3300 yen.

… sorry, I do have respect and everything for hide, but this is too much if you ask me. Yes he’s a legend. Yes his passing was sad. But come on… just. No.
