Now here’s something we don’t see every day.

Back in December, CindyKate announced that they would be disbanding. However, they have now published a notice on their OHP stating that they have decided to continue on with activities, and will NOT be breaking up. However, at their oneman on February 11th, which was supposed to be their final performance, GENJI will be leaving the band.

Yuui, Otake and Syun all plan to carry on their activities with CindyKate.
The three members have posted messages on their OHP to explain. I’ve only translated Yuui’s, mostly because it’s the most telling and the others reiterate what he said. It’s also his story to tell.

I’m deeply sorry to everyone about announcing that we would disband, and suddenly retracting that statement. Now, without hiding the truth, I want to tell everyone the details of our decision.

At the end of this past summer, I learned that my father only had a little time left to live. The name of his disease was liver cancer. From the day I found out, I was repeatedly coming and going to my family’s place from Tokyo, and while my father was living under home health care, we would drive to all the places that held fond memories for him, enjoying his remaining days.

However, my father’s disease caused his body to deteriorate day after day, hour by hour. Gradually, he couldn’t eat, and I thought about what I wanted as the last thing for my father.

I arrived at a decision.
My father had never seen me perform live, so on November 3rd he came to watch our oneman. Initially he had refused to come, due to his lack of physical strength, however with my mother’s persuasion, he came in poor health to the live. He watched us perform until the very end, and somehow, returned home feeling satisfied. A short while after, GENJI put in his decision to withdraw, and for about a month, day after day, I was wondering to myself…

Can I continue on in CindyKate? Have I reached the point where in order to not cause my father to worry, and to be concerned, do I give up the band activities?

So after much consideration, the answer we arrived at was to disband.
After that, my father passed away, and I felt lonely, and heart-broken.

After the funeral had come to an end, I returned to Tokyo, and I decided that it wasn’t a mistake to be in this band.

With my family moving on, and me returning to Tokyo, performing with everyone and rehearsing, life seemed to return to what it was before, and it was strange, because it didn’t feel like we’d be breaking up soon.

After a few more days, at least, I was able to see CindyKate clearly.
The lyrics and songs that I wrote, and the faces of everyone who has been supporting us.

Day after day, I started thinking that I wanted to CindyKate to continue, and that if it ended like this, wouldn’t I regret it?

Without me having said a thing, my mother knew that it was weighing on my mind. Her words gave me a push, and suddenly it was like everything that was weighing me down, had fallen.

So I thought about it, in my own level-headed way, and spoke to Syun who understood.

There were so many people who wanted to see us through until the end, and who bought tickets to the last live. To all those people, I feel like deciding not to disband at the very last moment like this, is a horrible thing to do.

You’ve been supporting us whole-heartedly, and if you have any questions, please let the person who handles our information know, but I hope you can understand.

My selfishness, and my selfish behaviour will not just disappear, but I will continue to put my all into CindyKate, so please continue to support us.
