Nama Mail is an internet service that has been gaining some considerable ground in the visual kei world lately. Created by entertainment company Index, it sounds as though the service has actually been around for a little while catering to Japanese idol fans, but added visual kei artists to the lineup on April 19th. The site offers its service for 27 bands, meaning more than 100 bandmen.
So what is it?
Nikkansports reported, the day after the visual kei branch opened:
A fee-based membership service where mail is delivered in real-time from the very cell phones of the artists themselves. (Monthly fee of 315 yen per bandman.) With the artists’ own desired timing, “Nama Mail,” with attached photos, or “Nama Voice,” with attached audio messages will be delivered to registered fans. Since fans can reply to the messages they receive in real-time, they can convey their own feelings directly to the artists.
Participating visual kei artists are:
HERO, Avidit, Kiryu, Royz, FEST VAINQUEUR, KISAKI, DuelJewel, Black Gene For the Next Scene, A, CELL, MEJIBRAY, Griever, Carat, THE RHEDORIC, Gakido, Hana Shonen Baddies, the Sherry, LOST ASH, Panorama Kyokou Xenon, BIOSPHIA, cocklobin, Misaruka, AMARANYX, JokArt au Legal, Lycaon, One Star, and Tokyo Quartet.
That’s quite a list! Some of the artists included in the service have filmed short ads, like Lycaon’s below, that have been uploaded to the site’s official YouTube channel.
Unfortunately, even after checking out the service’s (brief) FAQ, we can’t seem to find any information as to whether it’s possible for fans outside of Japan to sign up for the service. If any readers have tried signing up, or want to sign up, let us know if you’ve been successful!
In any case, what do you think? Would you sign up for this? Is the price reasonable? We’re curious to hear your opinions.

Here is the continuation of The Grand Update post that was made earlier.
For the PV of their upcoming maxi single, “CHANGE TO CHANCE,” Black Gene is looking for YOUR help to film it!
The band is taking applications from fans to star in the filming on June 5th, from 18:00~21:00 (around).
The filming will be around Shibuya, but the exact place has not been revealed.
All you need to do to apply is send your name, age, and current area of residence to ctcpv@blackgene.net with the subject line: 「エキストラ希望」.
If a large number of people apply, participating fans will be chosen by lottery. The application period ends on midnight (JST) on May 19th, so hurry! Winners will be notified on or after May 20th.
If selected, all you need to bring are clothes that are easy to move around in and a Black Gene towel.

Black Gene For the Next Scene: The Grand Update

As some of you readers might have noticed, the site has been a bit stagnant lately. As such, we have fallen behind on updates for a few bands.
Therefore, this shall be deemed Black Gene For the Next Scene: The Grand Update!
First, the band is releasing not only their first album, but also a new maxi single.
The maxi single, “CHANGE TO CHANCE,” will be released on July 24th. (There’s an exciting bit of news with this in an upcoming article, so stay tuned!) It will be released in two types.
Their first album is titled 「Dance to Rave ～脳内シェイクなsong達～」 (Dance to Rave ~nounai shake na song tachi~). It will be released in three types on August 28th.
Details on both the album and maxi single have not been released yet; check back in a few days!

Finally, a bit of fun news.
As I’m sure a lot of you already know, fans at Japanese concerts like to do what they call 振付 (furitsuke), which roughly translates to “choreography.” Usually, the fans will create it themselves or improvise based on cues from the band members. Black Gene, however, has set their own rules for the game by making their own furitsuke videos!

Introducing: Jupiter

We hesitated a bit with posting this information since it was brought to our attention on April Fool’s Day, but now we can confirm that this is, indeed, true!
Jupiter is a 5-member band with Universal Music Japan. The branch they are debuting under is more directed towards Western music and an international audience, so it’s rumored that their activities are more directed globally.
The line-up will seem very familiar to many of you; with the exception of the vocalist (ZIN), all of the previous members of Versailles are a part of Jupiter.

Information on their OHP right now is scarce, but they have confirmed their first single release will be in Summer 2013 titled “Blessing of the Future” under the record label Thunderball667.

Souiumono’s New Maxi-Single, Tour and One Man

Souiumono’s been a bit quiet as of late, but it seems that there was a very good reason! The band recently announced on its OHP that Souiumono will be releasing a new Maxi-Single titled 「殺人鬼の棲む街」 “Satsujinki no Sumu Machi” on May 15th! Information on the maxi-single, such as price, track listing and such have yet to be released, but when we receive more information you can be sure that we will update you!
In addition to the new single, Souiumono will be participating in「MY littleHEARTS.Tour Edition Vol.2」which will be hitting 14 stops throughout Japan, starting in late May! An announcement from Black Gene for the Next Scene today! They’ll be releasing their third single in March.
Also, Black Gene have announced a oneman live, a bit of a ways off too. 「Dance Drive Destiny」will take place at Shinjuku BLAZE on May 5th, 2013. Pair tickets cost ￥2000 (otherwise, they’ll cost ￥3000) and will go on sale on December 15th. If you purchase pair tickets, you’ll get a special anniversary item!

A while ago, 168-one sixty eight- announced that they will be releasing their first Live DVD from their oneman tour 激情スコール (Gekijou Squall) on November 9th! It will cost ￥3500 and can be pre-ordered here at HMV.
They recently updated with a few special release events. The first one is their special priority sale, which started today at their Halloween Shinjuku BLAZE event. Don’t fret, though! There is much more in store.

New Single for Black Gene for the Next Scene + Jacket Competition

Some exciting news from Black Gene for the Next Scene today, and best of all, you can take part in it!
And best of all, they have announced a competition of sorts – you, the fan, have the chance to design the booklet! It is currently running and will end on 2012.5.10, and all submissions are to be emailed to jacket@blackgene.net. All designs must be 126 x 126 mm, at least 350dpi (dots per inch) and saved in .jpg format. The title of the email/letter must read “BFN CD ジャケット” (Jacket). Most importantly, the theme for the jacket is 「涙・少女・トランス」(Tears・A girl・Trance)
You can also send them the submission by mail, at the following address.

KENZI’s “Animal Agitator” Act

KENZI of The Dead Pop Stars and ANTI FEMINISM fame is notorious for some pretty crazy stunts on stage. He’s lit himself on fire, gnawed on fluorescent lights, scrapped with pro wrestlers, and rolled around on thumbtacks. Quite the extreme performer, he has recently announced a couple of shows where he will perform a solo act: 「怪奇!!動物ｱｼﾞﾃｰﾀｰ」 (“Bizarre!! Animal Agitator”).
This act will be included at the following lives:

Black Gene For the Next Scene – ex-Vidoll Rame’s new band

So I’m going to start with introducing a new interesting band; Black Gene For the Next Scene. The bassist of this band is Rame from ex-ヴィドール (Vidoll)! Also guitarist 刻 (Toki) and drummer Sala (also known as mikami) might be familiar to some of you.
