As of July 23rd, Anomie is no longer! The band has decided to end their activities as Anomie officially and continue on as Matenrou Opera. They left this message on their site:

Kechiki of the Matenrou Opera lj comm pointed out that Anomie (which we’ve talked about here) – will be giving away a gift June 3rd through June 10th. Now what is the gift is still a mystery!
What do you think the gift will be? Online digital single? A live? Who knows but when more info is revealed, we’ll be sure to let you guys know!

Well, two people emailed in about this. Here is the Rumor/Tips email sent in by erinia_x:
Just in case you don’t know yet, a friend of mine went to yesterday’s Anomie live and they are Matenrou Opera. They were wearing all white costumes, really… aristocratic? like old English clothing… from XIX. They played a slow song and some harder ones. I can’t tell much more, my friend will send me a review tomorrow.

Another update for Anomie

Like tousaku mentioned here, Anomie had the date April 10 on their site as the new countdown date, and as you know, it’s April 10 today.
This time they’ve added another youtube video, and instead of a song it’s a message. There’s piano playing in the background, and the following words are spoken:

Also, by now a lot of people (including me) have heard the song they released on March 25th, and it’s safe to say that the vocalist is Sono of Matenrou Opera. I expect the rest of the members are from Matenrou Opera as well. Read more about Anomie here!

Anomie = Matenrou Opera = Anomie?

Many of you probably remember the band called Anomie which Tousaku introduced here. They’re a rather secretive band, not revealing anything else than their names.
Now, when I was translating Matenrou Opera’s interview from the newest cure, and read about their Anomie Plan over and over again, I decided to give a better look at this band called Anomie. As soon as I went to their OHP, I started thinking that Anomie has got to be an alter ego of Matenrou Opera’s of some kind.
Of course I can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty certain they are. Here are the reasons:
★ First of all, the word “anomie” is not very common and I’d never seen any other band use it before Matenrou Opera. It sounds weird that a band with the name Anomie would pop up at the same time as Matenrou Opera’s Anomie Plan, since it’s such an uncommon word.
★ Anomie was formed on January 21. Sono says in the interview that their Anomie Plan was announced in Cure on January 21, and since then the plan’s been in action.
★ Anomie’s official site’s URL is “anomie0723.com“. Matenrou Opera’s first oneman called “DAWN OF ANOMIE” will be on July 23, that is, on 07/23.
★ The countdown they had on their site first ended on March 25. Tousaku posted here that they announced their first live on that day, but there was, in fact, more to it: apparently people who bought CDs from ZEAL LINK’s, Like an Edison’s and some other CD shops’ Tokyo stores received Anomie’s demo CD for free (note: this information comes from 2ch, so while it might not be 100% reliable, several people have said they got the CD). Matenrou Opera released their fifth maxi-single “acedia” on the same day, and the single is also a part of the Anomie Plan.
★ Even the small details fit, such as that Anomie has 5 members and one of them is clearly a keyboardist, and that even though they have a vocalist he doesn’t sing on the sample — if it’s Sono, he couldn’t sing on the sample, because anyone could recognize his voice easily.
★ And anyway, having listened to Matenrou Opera an awful lot, I can say that Anomie’s sound is very similar to Matenrou Opera’s. The samples sound like the band’s taken quite a bit of influence from western metal, and Matenrou Opera’s members are huge western metal fanboys.
Personally, the dates and the name of the band are what really convinced me that this has got to have something to do with Matenrou Opera. I don’t think it’s just chance that the dates and name are the same. Of course it’s just speculating, but still.

Update from Anomie

Last week I posted an introduction of a new band called Anomie. There was a countdown and a date of March 25th marked on the site. Since it’s already the 25th in Japan today, the site has been updated!
The band themselves still have yet to be revealed, but they have announced their first live! The band will be an opening guest for the Like absolute myself sponsored event [-THE LAST DECIPHER-] on April 27th at Takadanobaba AREA!
There is now a new date listed for the timer on the official site. The new date is April 10th. Of course, when that update is made we’ll be sure to let you know!

A mysterious new band has started! The band is called アノミー/Anomie, and the reason I’ve described them as “mysterious” is because they haven’t shown their faces yet! According to their Visunavi page, there are five members total.

Luckily, they haven’t just left us with their names. They’ve uploaded a video on youtube that contains an instrumental version of one of their songs, currently there is no title given. They sound very promising, so check it out!
What’s more, there is a second by second countdown on the home page with the date of March 25th listed. Who knows what will be revealed once the timer runs out? They’ve certainly found a great way to get people talking about them and we look forward to hearing more from Anomie.
