Amaranth will be disbanding after their performance on the 15th of May. Here is the official announcement from the band about that decision:

Thank you for your continuous support of Amaranth.

Although the core of our activities were formed by Naoki, Takeharu and Tetsurou (support for Tokyo Shitei), after numerous discussions between the members we have come to the decision to disband after our performance on May 19th.

We are extremely sorry to the fans who have been supporting us and to everyone connected with the band for the trouble and confusion that we have caused.

Furthermore, after we have disbanded, we will update our official homepage and blogs with news about the future activities of Amaranth members.

For our remaining lives, the five of us intend to merge all of our power together to create the best performance that we can, so we hope that you will continue to support us.

The members have posted their personal comments regarding their decision as well:

Vocal – Kei:

From Amaranth’s formation, to the start of our activities on October 28th and until we disband, there have been countless things that I’ve been able to experience.

Throughout my experience [in the band], the time that I spent with the members and the time that we spent with everyone, has been truly priceless.
The family from a distance that supported me, all the people that co-operated with the band, all the fans that say they support Amaranth, you’ve watched over us although we’ve caused trouble, and so I’m truly, truly thankful.

Lots of things happened during Amaranth’s activities.
For example, I had my own personal problems to deal with, which therefore caused a lot of trouble for the other members, and was one of the reasons leading to our decision to disband. For that, I am sincerely sorry. I want to take this chance to say sorry again.
And although Amaranth’s activities are ending, I think our bond with everyone isn’t going to vanish.

I hope to continue forward, and not forget the time I’ve shared with Amaranth.

Guitar – Naoki:

To all the supporting fans of Amaranth, I’m really sorry for the selfish decision of disbanding.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting us until now.

I really was able to have a good time performing in front of everyone with my favorite guitar.
I have strong thoughts of wanting to continue activities, but being aware of the difference in our opinions on our music, we’ve decided to not continue on with our activities.

We honestly thought of our kind and supporting fans and the time we had with them.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Guitar – Yui:

First, I want to say that I’m sorry that it’s this kind of announcement.

Of course, to the fans and everyone connected to the band, I’m really sorry.

Amaranth with disband on May 19th.
Amaranth started as Kei, Naoki, me, Takeharu and Tetsurou, and from here on, I think that the members will continue to go on to be the best, however, right now, the biggest thing is that continuing as us 5 has become difficult.

The reason is the usual; the members have different tastes.

I think that the people who come to our lives can see that.
Thinking about what kind of wall everyone will run into and climb over, everyone has the same faith, but for us 5, we couldn’t climb over that wall and so the decision came to disband.

I’m really sorry for disappointing you.
As for Amaranth, we have two lives left where we’ll stand together as five members.
We’ll do these lives with all our might and won’t leave with any regrets, so until the end please keep supporting us.

Bass – Takeharu:

Half a year is a short time for activities, but we’ve decided to disband.

Amaranth will turn their heads and laugh at this stupid thing… it’s that kind of strange relationship the band had.

But we love this band.

Although we’ve decided to disband, since we don’t have actual feelings the 5 of us are going on a trip after this… I keep thinking, didn’t this become a good memory?
For the first time in my life, I did well studying for the band!!

We don’t have many lives left, but until the end please idolize Amaranth!!

Drums – Tatsurou:

To the fans, and everyone else concerned, I’m sorry for the abrupt announcement to disband.

The decision came so fast that I don’t know how to express myself.
For half a year Amaranth has existed and I had grasped the things within myself.
We won’t hide that we’re lost.

I’m really sorry to everyone that has been affected by this.

Amaranth made a story as 5 people, and although the curtain will close in May the memories will not wither.

We only have 2 lives remaining, so I think that we want to make the best performance we can as Amaranth.
