Nama Mail: Connect daily with artists by mail

Nama Mail: Connect daily with artists by mail

Nama Mail

Nama Mail is an internet service that has been gaining some considerable ground in the visual kei world lately. Created by entertainment company Index, it sounds as though the service has actually been around for a little while catering to Japanese idol fans, but added visual kei artists to the lineup on April 19th. The site offers its service for 27 bands, meaning more than 100 bandmen.

So what is it?

Nikkansports reported, the day after the visual kei branch opened:

A fee-based membership service where mail is delivered in real-time from the very cell phones of the artists themselves. (Monthly fee of 315 yen per bandman.) With the artists’ own desired timing, “Nama Mail,” with attached photos, or “Nama Voice,” with attached audio messages will be delivered to registered fans. Since fans can reply to the messages they receive in real-time, they can convey their own feelings directly to the artists.

Participating visual kei artists are:
HERO, Avidit, Kiryu, Royz, FEST VAINQUEUR, KISAKI, DuelJewel, Black Gene For the Next Scene, A, CELL, MEJIBRAY, Griever, Carat, THE RHEDORIC, Gakido, Hana Shonen Baddies, the Sherry, LOST ASH, Panorama Kyokou Xenon, BIOSPHIA, cocklobin, Misaruka, AMARANYX, JokArt au Legal, Lycaon, One Star, and Tokyo Quartet.

That’s quite a list! Some of the artists included in the service have filmed short ads, like Lycaon’s below, that have been uploaded to the site’s official YouTube channel.

Unfortunately, even after checking out the service’s (brief) FAQ, we can’t seem to find any information as to whether it’s possible for fans outside of Japan to sign up for the service. If any readers have tried signing up, or want to sign up, let us know if you’ve been successful!

In any case, what do you think? Would you sign up for this? Is the price reasonable? We’re curious to hear your opinions.

MeLt to Disband

MeLt to Disband

MeLt, who after having lost their bassist Ten in March, have decided that they will disband this coming July.

melt
The following was left on their member blogs, and was translated by Elena.

A Message from MeLt

Thank you for always supporting MeLt.
As announced at out live show on the 30th of April, we will be disbanding after our live show in Ash OSAKA on the 5th of July. Yuki suggested we disband. We have gone on this far but it is with great difficulty we have made this decision.
Below are comments from each of the members.

Reiya

I am very sorry that it had to come to this to all our friends, staff and everyone who has supported us.
I really am sorry to our fans who have been with us since we started three years ago. I’m sorry we didn’t keep our promise to not break up. But if everyone stays with us we will do our best until the end. We learned how to have fun at lives from you. You gave my voice power in the lyrics and that is what will keep our band going. Together we were discouraged and encouraged, we laughed and cried. I have met amazing fans and that’s a treasure to me.
Before we break up it’s important we play in big venues. It’s important to me. MeLt’s disbandment is disappointing, lonely and sad as well as a lot of other feelings. I am disappointed, lonely and sad too.
But the biggest flowers don’t blossom until the end. I want us to leave behind something new. Let’s walk together until the end.

Yuki

The word “disbandment” doesn’t fit exactly because the intense feeling we each have for MeLt and our fans won’t change. But for us to grow, we have to go our separate ways.
Thank you for always supporting us!
From when we first started until now our bonds will never be broken!

Sora

I know nothing about visual kei. I have almost no band experience either. It was aspiration and curiosity that drew us four together.
We didn’t know our right from our left but with the help of our fans we were brought to adulthood. With all the cooperation from our staff and everyone else, the advice and encouragement we continued to receive, it really was the best fun.
Being in MeLt really was fun. Thank you so much for all your support. Thanks for being with us until the very end.
Sora.

Their last live, “MeLdriveR” will take place on July fifth at Ash OSAKA. Tickets will cost ¥3000 (¥3500 day of) and tickets went on sale on the 12th. DixdriveR will also be performing.

Aside from all of these releases, events, and tours, Black Gene has finally set up an official blog!
You can visit it here.

Finally, a bit of fun news.

As I’m sure a lot of you already know, fans at Japanese concerts like to do what they call 振付 (furitsuke), which roughly translates to “choreography.” Usually, the fans will create it themselves or improvise based on cues from the band members. Black Gene, however, has set their own rules for the game by making their own furitsuke videos!

First up, we have 「桜乱トランスdestiny」 (Sakura ran trance destiny)

Then we have 「獄彩夢」:

If you’re planning on going to a Black Gene live in Japan, don’t forget to practice, practice, practice!

Keep checking the site for more Black Gene updates…

Indefinite Pause for Wizard

Indefinite Pause for Wizard

Despite having released their latest single “Metabolic Syndrome” in December, Wizard have announced that they have officially paused activities.

wizard
The following messages were left on their member blogs and were translated by our own Elena.

Important Announcement

Thanks you so much to those who regularly support Wizard. At this time, Wizard are announcing their decision to go on indefinite hiatus. We are truly sorry to those fans and staff members who have supported us since we started back again as well as those who have supported us from when we first formed.
We plan to play a live show at Ikebukuro Black Hole on the 6th of May. Please see this blog for more details.
There isn’t much time left before our last live but each of the members will do their absolute best until the end to thank you for all your unwavering support.
- Wizard

-Kaito-

Firstly, I’m sorry to surprise you all with such disappointing news.
I have been with Wizard since 2004 and a lot of time has passed since then. It’s a long time but it’s more than just that. A lot has happened in that space of time. We have been through a lot of hard times along the way but all the choices we made in Wizard and in our own lives were done willingly.
Whenever we can’t overcome a barrier, our hearts bring us through a diversion and we have done that until now. Whatever the way, I’m sure we can cross this barrier this time.
So as of the 6th of May each member will be going their separate ways. I hope you’ll support us in our separate activities.

 -Sin-

I apologise, I’m still sorting through the many disappointing, sad feelings in my head.

One year is a short time but it was all happy, enjoyable memories. I’ve been proud to be Wizard’s guitarist for that year. It’s been a treasured life achievement.

I have been given the happiest days and I’m full of gratitude for that. Really, thank you so much.
I hope to meet everyone again someday.

 -Masumi-

I’m sorry for such a disappointing announcement. It’s sad, disappointing news but there are no hard feelings.
It hasn’t been long since we reformed. I feel so disappointed. But when each of us do meet again I know it will make me happy to play together again. Wizard have been together for over eight and a half years. We’ve had a lot of experiences together. There have been a lot of hard times but each time we have been rescued by the support of our fans, their encouraging words and smiling faces. I really have so many feelings of gratitude for that.
Thank you for everything until we meet again.

 -Atsushi-

It hasn’t been that long since we got back together, but it’s been a really fun year. I have a lot of memories and all I can do is try to express my thanks. We have always had your support. So from all of us, thank you.
After the 6th of May we’ll each be setting off on new paths. I don’t know if we’ll see each other again. But every time I sit back and think about all the great times I’ve had with Wizard, I’ll remembers all the tears and smiles from our fans.
I definitely won’t forget.
Let’s not be disappointed at our last live show. Let’s have fun.

 -Kimi-

It’s Kimi.
First of all, I’m sorry for the disappointing announcement. One year ago, after taking a break from music I was brought in to play drums for Wizard. I had so much support from our fans. I earned a lot of experience. I have a lot of good memories.
Even though we have had our differences I love Wizard. I know the other members think the same too. So we will do our best when facing our new paths. I will do my best to meet everyone again.
I am really sorry we were only back for such a short time!
We will put all our strength into the 6th of May.

Called≠Plan to Disband

Called≠Plan to Disband

Sad news for fans of Called≠Plan today… It appears that they’ll be disbanding this June.

called plan
The following was left on their member blogs, and has been translated by our own Elena.

An important notice from Called≠Plan

Thank you for always supporting Called≠Plan.
As was announced at the live on 4/30, after the 6/13 one-man at Osaka RUIDO, Called≠Plan will be disbanding.
Comments from all members follow below.

After holding our one-man at Osaka RUIDO on June 13, 2013, Called≠Plan will be disbanding.
Called≠Plan was the the first official band I was a part of.
To the me who could do nothing, the me who knew nothing, this band gave me many special things and really helped me grow.
From the fans, I really gained a lot of strength.  Thank you so much.  As the disbandment draws near, I really think that the fact that we were able to get this far was thanks to everyone’s voices.
The stupidly happy days with both the members and the fans coming together, crying, laughing, building up a lifetime of memories, and everyone who treasures those moments are, I think, something I can brag about.
I am so happy that I was able to meet these wonderful members, and all our fans.
In this remaining one and a half months, with all my power I want to share our gigs with everyone, so until the end, please continue to lend us just a little more of your strength.
Please treat us well.

Yuuto

I’m sorry for making such a sudden announcement.
As we announced at our gig the other day; Called≠Plan will be disbanding after our Osaka RUIDO one-man on June 13.
It has been about three and a half years since we started activities as Called≠Plan.  For me, Called≠Plan was like a life itself, and all I have are special memories.
We probably didn’t make music that will change the world, but as long as there is even just one Called≠Plan song that stays and continues in everyone’s hearts, I am happy.
There are only a few gigs left but, I will give all my effort for each and every one of them to become a special gig for everyone.
To everyone who supports Called≠Plan, and to all our staff, thank you so very much.

Otoha

Called≠Plan started in November 2009.
We have really always been supported by all of our fans.
Disbanding without being able to give anything back was an awfully painful decision.
We started from nothing, and steadily creating songs one by one, before we knew it we had created more than 30 songs.
Not just songs, pictures and videos too, each and every one that we put our everything into, will remain and continue forever.
And to everyone who has loved them, I am extremely grateful.
That I was able to meet these members was also a miracle.
I think there are always going to be regrets in life, but carrying those I want to continue walking forward from now on.
There is only a short time left before the day we disband but, until the very end, we will do our best to be a great band.

Rei

It has been decided that after June 13, 2013, Called≠Plan will be disbanding.
To all the fans that have supported us until now, I am really sorry for making this announcement.
There is about a month and a half until we disband… we will be enjoying what’s left with everything we have, so everyone please enjoy the time together with us without regret!
Until the very end, please treat us kindly!

Shu

At this time, I would like to apologize for the outcome that we will be disbanding.
The time that I have spend as Called≠Plan’s drummer has been a really short 10 months but, it was a really busy and productive 10 months.
It is thanks to the members and the company, and to all the fans that I was able to have such a wonderful 10 months.
It’s impossible for me to express the full extent of my gratitude.
And about just as much, my feelings of apology.
I’m so sorry.
Everyone, thank you so, so so much.

Fi’Ance. To Disband

Fi'Ance. To Disband

Fi'Ance1.21
Being the bearer of bad news is definitely not one of the best things to be these days.

Fi’Ance. announced today that after their Sponsored Live Events and One-Man on September 27th, the band will be disbanding. Members announced on their ameblos about the upcoming disbandment. Their messages can be read below.

An Important Announcement from Fi’Ance.

We would like to warmly thank you for your always-exceptional patronage.
We have an important message to you all from Fi’Ance..

As the result of multiple talks with Fi’Ance.’s members and related management office, it has been decided at this time that after the SHIBUYA O-WEsT one-man performance on September 27th, we will cease activities.
As all of the members, moving toward the final one-man performance, will come together and perform better than ever, please support us
until the end.

In addition, we will announce the details of our last sponsored tour and last one-man live at a later date.

Below are comments from the members.

Yuuka: I’m sorry for startling you with this sudden announcement.
No matter what kinds of things are said after this; no matter what kinds of things you think — I want you to understand that my feelings toward Fi’Ance. are genuine.

Since I don’t want to have to end here with pretty words, I won’t say a lot but…
Kira-ko plays the drums with good energy, Kai-tsun can play the bass with ease, Shitsu fills us with cool phrasing, and I sing.

I think that’s all we have.

Only that.

That’s going to go away.

Only that.

But, Fi’Ance.

from here.

Won’t somehow break off its engagement.

Shitsu: First of all, I am sorry for the announcement coming so suddenly.
Although of course all the members talked together and decided on this conclusion, I honestly haven’t sorted my feelings all out yet.

I just absolutely don’t want to have any regrets after the final live; I don’t want to make our activities until now a waste…

Since I’ll strive to put all my strength into the things I can do with my beloved members as guitarist Shitsu of Fi’Ance., I want you to support me until the end.

Please give me your best.

I’m sorry

Kai: For the sudden announcement,
I’m full of remorse for all of the fans who have supported us until now.
The result, however,
is that I love Fi’Ance.,
and I feel proud that I’ve been able to play in a band like this with the very best members.
Until the SHIBUYA O-WEST last live on Friday, September 27th, 2013, we’ll come at you with all our power as one so please give us your best.

Kira: Fiances*, I’m sorry for the sudden announcement. We, Fi’Ance., will disband after September 27th, 2013 at SHIBUYA O-WEsT. Until that last day the members of Fi’Ance. will play the very best lives with you.

*The band refers to their fans as Fiances (kon’yakusha).
