Artists that are confirmed safe

artists-that-are-confirmed-safe

We’ve received many emails regarding if so and so is safe or if _______ band is ok. JpopAsia.com has compiled a list of confirmed bands and members who have updated their twitter, blog etc with info of being safe.

Here’s a list of jrock and visual kei artists that have been reported safe!
If you wonder about someone, don’t be afraid to ask. We must help each other!
This list will be edited as more are reported.

If your favourites aren’t listed – that doesn’t mean they aren’t safe. They can be in a situation where they can’t (or don’t want to) update. Most of these people are in Tokyo, and most of the people in Tokyo seem to be fine.

IF ONLY THE BAND IS LISTED – ALL MEMBERS ARE CONFIRMED SAFE.

If there’s someone you can’t find: It does not necessarily mean that they are missing. It simply means that they haven’t updated their blogs or twitters.

Important announcement regarding Yurikago

important-announcement-regarding-yurikago

Dada updated his twitter this morning with this tweet: “There is an urgent, important announcement from Yurikago tonight.” Not sure what the announcement is but we should get some sort of update from Dada via twitter or his myspace.

What do you think the announcement is? Edit: She wrote on her twitter: “I do not resign VE. Please do not worry♪”

Edit #2: And she lied – she is no longer with Velvet Eden. She is leaving on December 31st.

Yurikago is secede VELVET EDEN at December 31.
I’m sorry in sudden information.
It is this year that VE revived.
It was every day with a lot during half a year.
In present member’s doing the live show, this day is the last.
Please let me see at the last live show because I want to remember the face of everybody forever.
I’m sorry really really.

gackt-and-bae-yong-joon-to-perform-together-and-record-in-public

This is cool, maybe a few of you have watched dramas before. Bae Yong Joon is a pretty well known actor and it seems that he and Gackt will be working together on an event.

GACKT is going to costar with South Korea actor Bae Yong Joon. They will be performing together on the charity TV program “Message! To Asia” which is a part of DATV’s social contribution activity “Hohoemi Project”. The profit of this project will be contributed to help street children in Cambodia and The Philippines through NPOs such as “Kokkyo naki Kodomotachi (KnK)”. Both GACKT and Bae Yong Joon decided to attend the program out of their identification with the aim of the project. Other Asian stars are scheduled to make appearance in the future.

The program will be recorded public in Tokyo Dome at 6pm, December 14th. And it will be aired on January 10th 2011. The participation fee is 8,400 yen. And according to DATV, people registered before the end of September will be given priority in ticket booking. Detail information will be announced on the official website.

two bands, one name

sticon212

So as to not confuse you all, there’s actually two bands named Anima, haha.

One was actually introduced in an earlier post

The Fukuoka trio band:
top1
Their OHP is http://anima-web.net/m/mindex.htm

Then the other Anima would be the one I just introduced a post earlier. The main (yet slight) difference is that this first Anima is spelt with english letters while the Anima I mentioned spells their name with katakana (Japanese characters) like this: アニマ.

The OHP for アニマ would be http://a-ni-ma.com/pctop.html

This is just to clear things up, as I don’t even think the bands know it themselves, haha.

musicians on facebook…

musicians-on-facebook

We’ve talked about jrockers who have myspace, twitter and youtube accounts but have we ever talked about facebook? Ryonai of Blam Honey just got his own and so far all of his updates have been in English. Hayato of Camino also uses a facebook, youtube and his own twitter (in japanese only). If you guys like them/their bands you should say hello! Its really nice to see them not only sign up for accounts but to type in Engish and reply/add fans!

How do you guys feel about musicians reaching out to fans by joining and making accounts on these sites? Do you guys have any other vk artists added?

Anomie revealed

anomie-revealed

Well, two people emailed in about this. Here is the Rumor/Tips email sent in by erinia_x:

Just in case you don’t know yet, a friend of mine went to yesterday’s Anomie live and they are Matenrou Opera. They were wearing all white costumes, really… aristocratic? like old English clothing… from XIX. They played a slow song and some harder ones. I can’t tell much more, my friend will send me a review tomorrow.

After this email ST reader Kles pointed out the following:
http://anomie0723.com/pc/crowd.html

There you have it ST readers. I know this will make some of you very happy.

Edit – Also check out http://anomie0723.com/pc/movie.htm – Thanks to xel for pointing this out.

Heath really leaving X Japan? No says X Japan

heath-really-leaving-x-japan-no-says-x-japan

Ku sent an email pointing out some trouble Heath was having with his management.
Well it seems to be true, due to some issues with his management . HEATH will be leaving X Japan. The news was posted today on a local news site. Apparently these issues were one of the causes to the cancellation in Korea. After weeks of negotiation nothing was resolved and yet the tickets for Tokyo Dome still went on sale. Yoshiki has stated that the show will not be canceled and they will have a session bassist step in. Even though Yoshiki is at his home in USA, he will be returning to Japan to talk to HEATH in person.

{edit}Thanks to Shinta for showing this to me. Well now the news is that Heath proposed to leave the band, but the outcome seems that he will still stay with X Japan to finish up the reunion lives on May 2nd and 3rd. Yoshiki is also denying any talk of a session bassist/replacement. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens.

Anomie = Matenrou Opera = Anomie?

anomie-matenrou-opera-anomie

Many of you probably remember the band called Anomie which Tousaku introduced here. They’re a rather secretive band, not revealing anything else than their names.

Now, when I was translating Matenrou Opera’s interview from the newest cure, and read about their Anomie Plan over and over again, I decided to give a better look at this band called Anomie. As soon as I went to their OHP, I started thinking that Anomie has got to be an alter ego of Matenrou Opera’s of some kind.

Of course I can’t say for sure, but I’m pretty certain they are. Here are the reasons:

★ First of all, the word “anomie” is not very common and I’d never seen any other band use it before Matenrou Opera. It sounds weird that a band with the name Anomie would pop up at the same time as Matenrou Opera’s Anomie Plan, since it’s such an uncommon word.

★ Anomie was formed on January 21. Sono says in the interview that their Anomie Plan was announced in Cure on January 21, and since then the plan’s been in action.

★ Anomie’s official site’s URL is “anomie0723.com“. Matenrou Opera’s first oneman called “DAWN OF ANOMIE” will be on July 23, that is, on 07/23.

★ The countdown they had on their site first ended on March 25. Tousaku posted here that they announced their first live on that day, but there was, in fact, more to it: apparently people who bought CDs from ZEAL LINK’s, Like an Edison’s and some other CD shops’ Tokyo stores received Anomie’s demo CD for free (note: this information comes from 2ch, so while it might not be 100% reliable, several people have said they got the CD). Matenrou Opera released their fifth maxi-single “acedia” on the same day, and the single is also a part of the Anomie Plan.

★ Even the small details fit, such as that Anomie has 5 members and one of them is clearly a keyboardist, and that even though they have a vocalist he doesn’t sing on the sample — if it’s Sono, he couldn’t sing on the sample, because anyone could recognize his voice easily.

★ And anyway, having listened to Matenrou Opera an awful lot, I can say that Anomie’s sound is very similar to Matenrou Opera’s. The samples sound like the band’s taken quite a bit of influence from western metal, and Matenrou Opera’s members are huge western metal fanboys.

Personally, the dates and the name of the band are what really convinced me that this has got to have something to do with Matenrou Opera. I don’t think it’s just chance that the dates and name are the same. Of course it’s just speculating, but still.

What do you people think?

By the way, if you want to know more about Matenrou Opera’s Anomie Plan and the idea behind it, go read my interview translation. It’s from the newest Cure and they talk about the Anomie Plan and acedia a lot.

Details on Elm’s members

details-on-elms-members

I remember that, when we introduced Elm to you, many people were speculating on the members’ previous bands, so now that the details are known I thought I could share it with everyone.

About JEKYLL‘s identity, spot on ! He actually was Tetora from カミカゼ少年團 (Kamikaze Boys) and Ma’die Kusse before that.
Rua (guitar) was a support member for Rucid, and more recently he was in ActLess TheAteR.
27-NINA- was the bassist of Mareydi†Creia (along with Kai who’s now in the GazettE)
And finally, Neku used to play drums for SKULL and k@mikaze.

Doesn’t the band look even more interesting now ?

Black:List says Thank You

blacklist-says-thank-you

The members of the now disbanded Black:List all wrote in their blogs saying that their old homepage and myspace will officially close tomorrow. Each member said goodbye in their own way but mainly that they thank fans and even though each member will go their own paths that to please continue to support their futures. Tomozo posted the new link to his blog (which we’ve mentioned here) and says that he isn’t sure if he’ll continue with musical activities. ;———–;

Check out their hp one last time and see the flash thank you!

Quaff’s Official YouTube

quaffs-official-youtube

Sure, their MySpace is old news, but I’d like to draw more attention to their YouTube account, as both need more fan participation, in my opinion.

It’s official and has some interesting concert footage on it. They went on a U.S. tour earlier this year and have footage of their concert in Atlanta, GA posted.

I’ve found that Quaff isn’t exactly well-known in the overseas Visual Kei community yet, but checking them out if you haven’t already is well worth it.

Their last live show of the year is November 29th!
Then, hopefully, we will see new music from then and maybe another U.S. tour in the next year? Cross your fingers~
