kagrras-10th-anniversary

For anyone who hasn’t checked it out yet, Kagrra, have opened up a special page on their OHP in celebration of their 10th year anniversary and they have a lot of things planned in the upcoming months!

Probably the most exciting news for fans, is that the band has two new singles planned! The first will be out on June 16th, and the second in the middle of August. Details are not yet available, but you can be sure we’ll update you when they are!

The band has two special lives and a new tour planned. The first live happened on March 3rd at Shibuya O-WEST.

The next, part two, which is called 「鬼咆」 (Kihou) takes place on June 3rd at Shibuya O-EAST. Tickets are 5250 yen a piece, and regular ticket sales begin on April 24th. Anyone who is part of the fanclub and purchases a ticket through the fanclub will receive a live DVD with footage from the show March 3rd.

The last is a live tour called 「行脚 百鬼夜行~陰~」 (Angya Hyakkiyagyou ~ Kage ~), which kicks off in August. Dates, venues and performance titles are as follows. The performance titles are actually really interesting, the band took a myth or story from the area that they’re performing, and titled the show after that.

・ August 25th @ Mito Lighthouse
-河童の怪- (Kappa no Kai; The Mystery of the Kappa)

・August 26th @ Sendai darwin
-鵺の怪- (Nue no Kai; The Mystery of the Chimera)

・September 12th @ Umeda Shangri-La
-茨木童子の怪- (Ibarakidouji no Kai; The Mystery of Ibaraki Demon)

・September 14th @ Fukuoka DRUM Be-1
-海御前の怪- (Umegozen no Kai; The Mystery of the Female Kappa Spirit)

・September 16th @ KYOTO MUSE
-羅城門ノ鬼の怪- (Rashoumon no Oni no Kai; The Mystery of the Silk [Wearing] Castle Demon)

・September 18th @ Nagano LIVE HOUSE J
-八面大王の怪- (Hachimendaiou no Kai; The Mystery of the Eight Faced King)

Tickets to all of the shows cost 4725 yen and go on sale starting July 24th. They also note that preschool-aged children and younger cannot attend…

Another cool thing they have planned is a fanclub trip!
The trip is to Kyoto, and takes place on May 22nd and 23rd (two days, one night). Seems like the band has a lot of cool things planned for those attending:
・ Sight-seeing with the members of Kagrra,
・ A special 10 year anniversary banquet
・ A personal experience in Kyoto! Solo activity with the Kagrra, members (you can choose which member’s “course” you’d like to participate in. The contents are a secret):
Isshi – 「鬼扇~京の都で扇國乱舞~」 (Oni Ougi ~ Kyou no Miyako de Senkoku Rappu)
Akiya – 「京コマ作り体験しよーぜ!」 (Kyoukoma Tukuri Taiken Shyouze!)
Shin – 「お前の力を見せてみろ!」 (Omae no Chikara wo Misetemiro!)
Nao – 「これ魅力!!七味セラピー」 (Kore Miryoku!! Shichimi Therapy)

・ A wrap-up lunch party with Kagrra,
・ A one-on-one photo with all six members
・ Special souveniers for those who participate

Further details will be available on the OHP and in the member’s blogs as the occasion rises.

Going back to the collaborations and accessories, vocalist Isshi, has teamed up once again with Kasuh Koubou to make an original, silver ring.

The ring costs 8500 yen and comes packaged in a specially marked box. Also included is a comment card personally written by Isshi, an original silver cross, and silver number. There is the option for anyone who purchases the ring to have their initials carved into it.

The 10 year anniversary page also has a list of each of the member’s regular programs, so tune in if you’re interested! Note that Nao’s column at Minna @ Soccer will not begin until April.

Ziggrat have updated both their OHP and the member’s blogs saying that their guitarist Kyo has been hospitalized due to catching pneumonia.

We apologize for the unexpected announcement.

Since the other day, our guitarist Kyo has been in bad health, and today as a result of being diagnosed with pneumonia, it is necessary that he is hospitalized for about one week [to recover].

After talking between the members and staff, we have decided that even though Kyo cannot be there for our live on March 22nd at Shinjuku Holiday, we will perform as scheduled.

We are sorry for disappointing all of you who were waiting in anticipation for the next live, however, we hope that you can understand.

yoshiki-sues-production-company

Yoshiki has been in the news alot these past few months. Sadly this isn’t really positive news.

X Japan leader Yoshiki has filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court against the music production company Nexstar Corporation, seeking approximately 375 million yen in damages. However, that figure could grow by another 600 million yen.

According to the lawsuit, after X Japan reunited, they entered a contract with Nexstar Corporation in January 2008, which included the use of some recordings. That initial deal was for the sum of 600 million yen in advance royalties and contract money, which has so far been entirely unpaid.

Between 2008 and 2009, the company also sponsored ten of the band’s concerts in Japan and other parts of Asia. About 320 million yen in performance fees and merchandise sales from those concerts is due to the band as well. In all, the total unpaid amount is more than 900 million yen.

Yoshiki’s side points out that the ticket and merchandise sales have earned more than 2.5 billion yen in revenue for Nexstar, making it unreasonable that the company still has not paid any of it. Although attempts were initially made to resolve the dispute between the two parties, a lack of progress led Yoshiki to take the matter to court.

The lawsuit is currently seeking only 375 million yen for the revenue earned from the concerts, but should the case go to trial, Yoshiki’s side plans to file an additional claim for the 600 million yen in the initial contract.

When reached for comment, Nexstar stated that they have not yet received the lawsuit. The company reportedly acknowledged that there is some unpaid money due to the band, but they said that the amount is different from Yoshiki’s claim.

the-fool-2nd-maxi-single

The fool are releasing a new maxi single after half a year! It’s entitled “Go motherfucker” and goes on sale May 12th, but will be available for presale at live venues after April 29th.

Here is what they say about the upcoming single:

Half a year after their previous release [Hydra], the ever-growing monsters return with an even louder roar. The aggressive pop sound of the title track, [Go motherfucker], captures the strength that symbolizes [the fool] in its current state while conveying a positive message. The other tracks, [Another sky] and [GETTING UNITED], could be called glimpses at the broad world view characterizing [the fool]’s new lot in life. They have also taken the challenge of recording a remix of the title track [Go motherfucker], creating a diverse collection of sounds and making this a noteworthy release.

The tracklist, as they said is as follows:
1. Go motherfucker
2. Another sky
3. GETTING UNITED
4. Go motherfucker crazy’s remix

It’ll cost ¥1500 (tax in), it’s limited to 1000 copies, and each CD comes with a bonus trading card (1 of 4 types).

Please look forward to it!

vanessa-disbands

Thanks to everyone who gave us a heads up on this!

VANESSA have announced that they will be disbanding on May 14th and instead of releasing a new single in April and mini-album in August, they will be releasing a new mini-album in April.

VANESSA have posted the following announcement on their OHP:

An Important Announcement from VANESSA
Although this is unexpected, at this time, due to family circumstances, our guitarist Toki is finding it difficult to continue on with band activities.
With that in mind, the members discussed the future of the band’s activities numerous times, and as a result we have decided to disband.
Furthermore, the new single that we had announced that we would release in April as well as the mini-album we were planning to release in August, will now be released as a mini-album n April.
The oneman live we had planned on August 29th at Takadanobaba AREA has been changed to May 14th at Ikebukuro Blackhole.
To all of the fans who have been support us, we aret truly sorry for this unexpected announcement.

Their last oneman live is called 『最終絶叫単独公演-TRUE END-』 (Saishuu Zekkyou Tandoku Kouen – TRUE END-) and it costs 2800 yen to attend.

The member’s have also all posted comments on the OHP regarding their decision.

Vocals – Genki

Even now, that scene that I had seen that day is here, unchanged

But, I have a feeling that someone looking at me said, “it’s not an unchanging world, you know?”
Now, is it creation being born… or is it destruction…
Or is it that from destruction, creation was born…
Or…
I wonder if it’s from creation being destroyed…[that something will be born]

The hook inside me stays without stirring.

I’ll keep going after this, and I’ll keep composing.

Until the day that I completely stop.

From me to my beloved fans,

What can you see?

I’m here.

So shall we get going?

「TRUE END…」

Guitar – Toki

I can’t really word this properly, but life as I see it, it something you have to go through.
Up until now, I’ve done everything I’ve tried from the beginning until the end. (It’s something I’m proud of (laughs)).
But, that’s something that’s turned out to be not true.

Simply stated, it’s only music, but guitar was something that I could keep doing.
Rather, it’s kind of a miracle that I am able to keep doing it.

This is not a temporary plan.
Basically, it’s my fault that VANESSA has been driven to disband.
However, after talking a lot with the other members, they told me that they’d hate it if I wasn’t there, so deciding to disband, actually makes me alittle bit happy.

I’m sure that the other members will start up a new band.
I’ve been thinking that someday, I too want to make a return to music, no matter what shape it takes, but honestly I’m not sure when that day will be.

Everything that’s happened this far has really flew by.
I’m so glad that I got to know the other members.
I’m glad that I was able to be in a band with these members.
Being an idiot, once in a while I’d have some problems, but even then I felt that they wanted to be in a band together, so I feel blessed that I was able to meet people like that.

I’m also blessed to have been able to meet all of you who support me.

Somehow, let’s enough it until the very end.

I want to make every moment, every single second, important.

Even if it’s only untl May 14th, I hope we can be together.

Guitar – Haruki

Although it’s a sudden announcement, this is the way things have turned out.
Honestly, I haven’t really accepted it as reality yet.

I only want to share the remaining time we have left as these members being able to stand on stage [together] with everyone.

There are a lot of things I want to say, but they [right now] they don’t really make any sense.

I want to convey it all to you at our lives.

Until the end, with all our power, let’s foolishly enough it.

Haruki

Bass – Koichi

I’m sorry for the unexpected announcement.

Since I joined part-way through, there are probably people who think that I shouldn’t really be saying that.

However, if you can enjoy all of the band, from VanessA to the new VANESSA, I’ll be glad.

We still have some time, so until the very end, please don’t take your eyes off of us.

We’ll definitely do lives that make you think, “I’m glad that I’m a fan of VANESSA”.

May 14th

We’re waiting!

Drums – You

VANESSA is disbanding.

First, I want to say how sorry I am to all the fans who have been supporting us and to all those connected to the band for having to move the oneman live up, and for the drastic changes to the releases.

Since VANESSA started, we’ve been through a lot of good times, tough times and sad times.
But it wasn’t only tough times, or hard times, and it really has been a wonderful experience for me.

I think that being able to turn things around from being sad and depressing, is something that I owe to all of you who have been supporting us.

Right now, there are various reasons as to why we’re disbandng, and it’s something that we all decided together.

It’s selfish to say this, but for the little bit of time we have left, I’d be happy if you could warmly watch over us.

I’m truly sorry for the unexpected announcement.

x-japan-moving-to-usa

Thanks to Kigan for sending this in!

According to Tokyo Graph, it seems that the band plans to move to Los Angeles:

Speaking at an event in Tokyo for his jewelry brand’s latest collection, X Japan leader Yoshiki made an unexpected announcement. When guitarist SUGIZO appeared on stage as a surprise guest, Yoshiki revealed that the band intends to base their activities in Los Angeles.

X Japan had aimed to expand their international presence during the early ’90s, but after some setbacks and the death of guitarist hide, the band broke up in 1997. Since their reunion in 2007, they have scheduled multiple overseas concerts, but most had to be postponed for various reasons.

At the end of last month, Yoshiki announced that the band is set to finally make their U.S. debut with a performance at rock festival Lollapalooza, being held in Chicago on August 6-8, 2010. However, at the event in Tokyo, Yoshiki hinted that their first U.S. performance might be sooner than that, saying that they are considering playing at a small live house in Los Angeles in the near future.

Of the band’s members, Yoshiki has already been living in Los Angeles for a while. Although he said that the rest of the members plan to move there in order to establish the city as their base, he did not give a specific timeline for the move.

What do you think about it then?

As announced on February 26th during our live at Takadanobaba club Phase, our syntheizer Toruchang will be leaving the band after our performance on March 22nd at SHINJUKU HOLIDAY.

This is a result of numerous discussions between the members, and reacting to Toruchang’s own request, the members came to this conclusion.

There’s only a short time left, with only two lives with the four of us performing together, however, we will not be stopping our activities, and the members will devote their time into making Medi@lize grow.

Not long ago, we wrote about VARB disbanding. Originally, they planned to disband on March 11th, but due to conflict (seemingly between the members), they instead have cancelled all future plans, and disbanded at their live on February 27th.

They have now updated their OHP with the following announcement:

VARB disbands

First and foremost, the other day we had a sudden announcement, as the members have all stated, we sincerely apologize to everyone for the trouble and the worry that we have caused.

Due to a miscommunication, the members did not all discuss [our plans], and we made the announcement without everyone’s judgement. Please understand that this was not something that was done with band intentions, but there was a further advancement in the situation.

To sum up, the members of VARB all shared their points of view, and finally we had a disucssion, however, as the wishes of the members were different and without all of the members being able to compromise, we felt that continuing on in a band this way is too difficult, and therefore disbanded on February 27th.

This was an extremely disappointing result, and we have to announce that we have cancelled all further plans.

Although we were reluctant for things to turn out this way, we are truly grateful for all of your support.

kiki-withdrawing-from-hibrid

It was announced yesterday that Kiki would be withdrawing from band activities with Hi:BRiD. There is an official comment on the site as well as a message from Kiki and a conjoined message from the other three members also.

An important announcement for everyone,

Thank you for always being supportive of Hi:BRiD.
We have an important announcement for you all.

After our live on March 27th, our guitarist Kiki will be leaving the band.
Our decision is a result of much discussion, and in respect to Kiki’s request [to leave the band], however, we deeply apologize to everyone for the worry and the trouble.

There isn’t a lot of time left with the remaining line-up, however, we hope that you can continue to support us in the same way you have been been.

February 27th, 2010

Kiki’s Comment about his decision to leave:

First, I want to say that I am truly sorry about the sudden announcement and for troubling those of you who are always supporting me.

It hasn’t even been a year yet since Hi:BRiD started activities, and we’re still young… I’d been doing support for them since last March, and became an official member in June.

I used to think that the four of us had to keep on working hard, expand our activities, and unifiy music, but I feel that even in this short amount of time, there’s been a gap growing between my own thoughts and feeling on how the band’s activities should be done… and the music I want to make.

Although, those are my own personal, selfish troubles, and even though I’ve opened up the lid on my feelings, I kept on going with the band, I think I’d feel this way again. So, I had many discussions with the members who are continuing to work their hardest, who I didn’t want to be rude to, and to our office… and have decided that on March 27th I will be leaving Hi:BRiD.

If you ask me, JILL is like my always funny older brother, Zero is someone who can rely on, who doesn’t lose his cool no matter what happens, and Kisara is the always lovely, mood maker… I am truly grateful that I was able to meet these amazing members and work in a band with them.

I’m not sure if I’ll continue on in music after this….
When I feel like I really want to do something, I’ll do whatever it takes to head in that direction.

I am truly sorry to all of your who support me that things have come to be leaving the band…

Hi:BRiD will continue on with more and more activities, and I’ll be glad if they’ll me keep up with them.

There aren’t many lives left that I’ll be taking part in, but I don’t want things to end on a sad note, so I hope that we can make these last lives even better than before.

I’ve only been in the band a short time, but to all of the fans who support us, to everyone concerned with the band, and of course to JILL, Zero and Kisara… I truly thank you.

JILL, Zero and Kisara’s comment on the OHP was as follows:

Although it’s sudden, on March 27th Kiki will be leaving the band.

At the beginning of January, we were told about KikI’s intentions. After that, we had numerous discussions, and from the outcome of those we realized that our feelings on the type of music we want to do, and also the roads that we want to take have become divided.

For this reason, we had to keep facing our feelings, and be honest about it no matter what.

However, time isn’t something that waits for you, so with everyone’s troubles, we arrived at this decision.

There’s only a little time left [with Kiki in the band], but we hope that we can reveal only the soud of the four of us, and even if it’s one person or many people, we want to be burned in the memory of your eyes and ears.

Finally, to all of the fans who have been supporting us, we are truly sorry that it seems as if we have betrayed you.
