Nama Mail: Connect daily with artists by mail
17
May, 2013
![]()

Nama Mail is an internet service that has been gaining some considerable ground in the visual kei world lately. Created by entertainment company Index, it sounds as though the service has actually been around for a little while catering to Japanese idol fans, but added visual kei artists to the lineup on April 19th. The site offers its service for 27 bands, meaning more than 100 bandmen.
So what is it?
Nikkansports reported, the day after the visual kei branch opened:
A fee-based membership service where mail is delivered in real-time from the very cell phones of the artists themselves. (Monthly fee of 315 yen per bandman.) With the artists’ own desired timing, “Nama Mail,” with attached photos, or “Nama Voice,” with attached audio messages will be delivered to registered fans. Since fans can reply to the messages they receive in real-time, they can convey their own feelings directly to the artists.
Participating visual kei artists are:
HERO, Avidit, Kiryu, Royz, FEST VAINQUEUR, KISAKI, DuelJewel, Black Gene For the Next Scene, A, CELL, MEJIBRAY, Griever, Carat, THE RHEDORIC, Gakido, Hana Shonen Baddies, the Sherry, LOST ASH, Panorama Kyokou Xenon, BIOSPHIA, cocklobin, Misaruka, AMARANYX, JokArt au Legal, Lycaon, One Star, and Tokyo Quartet.
That’s quite a list! Some of the artists included in the service have filmed short ads, like Lycaon’s below, that have been uploaded to the site’s official YouTube channel.
Unfortunately, even after checking out the service’s (brief) FAQ, we can’t seem to find any information as to whether it’s possible for fans outside of Japan to sign up for the service. If any readers have tried signing up, or want to sign up, let us know if you’ve been successful!
In any case, what do you think? Would you sign up for this? Is the price reasonable? We’re curious to hear your opinions.

Aside from all of these releases, events, and tours, Black Gene has finally set up an official blog!
You can visit it here.
Finally, a bit of fun news.
As I’m sure a lot of you already know, fans at Japanese concerts like to do what they call 振付 (furitsuke), which roughly translates to “choreography.” Usually, the fans will create it themselves or improvise based on cues from the band members. Black Gene, however, has set their own rules for the game by making their own furitsuke videos!
First up, we have 「桜乱トランスdestiny」 (Sakura ran trance destiny)
Then we have 「獄彩夢」:
If you’re planning on going to a Black Gene live in Japan, don’t forget to practice, practice, practice!
Keep checking the site for more Black Gene updates…

Amber gris’s Equipment Vehicle (and Equipment) Stolen
25
Apr, 2013
![]()

Oh, dear! There is horrible news from Amber gris today.
It was announced yesterday on Koto’s blog that sometime between April 21st and 24th the band’s Equipment vehicle was stolen out of a parking garage, and inside was all of their equipment! The van was packed at 5-5 Yayoi-cho, Itabashi-ku, Tokyo with hundreds of thousands yen worth of equipment. A full list of the equipment has been placed on their OHP, with a plea for the return of their things. If you would like to check out the list of things taken, please following this link.
Band members are requesting that people keep on the lookout for a white Toyota HIACE with a high roof with a black streak below the back window on one side. You can see a photo of the vehicle on Koto’s blog. Police and the parking company are investigating into the matter.
The licence plate number is Tokorozawa 100 6957 (所沢 す 100 6957)
If anyone knows anything about this case, the band asks to be contacted at info@amber-gris.com
Despite this serious set-back and the fact that the band’s One Man Tour Final will be happening in 4 days, the band does not seem to be cancelling their live at Ebisu’s LIQUIDROOM. This is a rather impressive act, and we at Shattered-Tranquility wish them the best with their One Man and finding the thieves. There are few things worst than having a car stolen, but when it includes all of your musical equipment… things get a lot more ugly.

DOPES. to Disband
23
Apr, 2013
![]()

It seems like 2013 is not a good year to be a fan or musician in the Visual Kei scene…
Terrible news for fans of DOPES. today. It was announced at their 2nd Anniversary “DOPES. Anniversary Live” Event on 4/21 that after their upcoming One Man at RUIDO K3 on July 25th, DOPES. will be disband. This news comes as quite a shock as it seemed DOPES. was readying for additional touring throughout Japan over the summer.
While DOPES. OHP has yet to announce the disbandment, members have posted comments regarding the disbandment. Below are the comments posted on their Ameblos:
—Notice of DOPES. disbandment—
Thank you for supporting DOPES. as always. This is a sudden announcement, but at this time we would like to report that after the Ikebukuro Ruido K3 event on July 25, 2013, DOPES. will be disbanding. The decision to disband is the result of many discussions between the members and the staff.
To all the fans who cheer for us, as well as to all the staff involved, we would like to extend our deepest apologies and our gratitude. We only have a little time left, but for the rest of the current schedule, all four members will be continuing with everything we have, so please continue to support us to the very end.
DOPES.
NARUMI / KAI / MASATO / RYO 2013.04.21
It was really such a sudden decision,
To unexpectedly announce this but,
DOPES. is disbanding.Because of various feelings, tears were falling, but today let’s end that.
There are only a few lives left to count but,
Until the end, let’s all be there with a smile.Everyone, I love you.
Thank you.
KAI
There is an end. This case is just one example of that.
I think that everyone who came to yesterday’s event, and everyone who has seen the OHP knows this already but, after the 7/25 event DOPES. will be disbanding.
We took many things into consideration but, for the present for members this is this best path to take. We haven’t really internalized this so, since we decided to disband we have been rehearsing and having meetings with the same energy as before, and it really hasn’t set in yet.
Honestly, when it came time for the encore, we really didn’t want to make the announcement.
But, this way is for the best. To everyone who went through the trouble to come, I’m so sorry for making you feel sad.
For the time being, we still have some time to continue activities as DOPES.
There are very few lives remaining but, until the end we’ll be giving it all we’ve got, so won’t you accompany us to the last?
Thank you for supporting us.
MASATO
Thank you and good work yesterday.
As we announced yesterday, DOPES. will be disbanding after the event performance on 7/25.
I think we are all really sorry for making such a regrettable announcement.
We discussed things to the very last minute, but the end result was that we would disband.
I feel quite mortified myself.I’m really sorry.
There’s only about three months remaining but,
Please treat DOPES. well until the the end.Thank you so much for yesterday.
RYO
It really is sad, isn’t it…
But, where there is a beginning there must also be an end.Today we discussed DOPES.’ disbandment.
Making such a sudden announcement was really inexcusable.I said not to cry, but it’s impossible, isn’t it.
We said it many times, but this isn’t a breakup of discord.
We discussed it properly, and the result was that we arrived at this decision. That short 2 years really felt like a long time,
And it was the setting of various growth for us.I won’t say goodbye yet!
There is still a bit of time before our last live on 7/25.Until the very end, won’t you come along together with us?
For a little longer, I want to enjoy this time with everyone.
Thank you so much for today.
~Narumi

Apr, 2013
![]()

Good news for AMARANYX fans this week. We mentioned earlier in the month that AMARANYX’s drummer, Kazuharu, was restricted from lives after a nasty bout of appendicitis. However, it seems that Kazuharu is ready to get back to playing, as the OHP has announced the following message:
Thank you very much for always supporting AMARANYX.
A few days ago, drummer Kazuharu was hospitalized for emergency surgery due to acute appendicitis. However, we would like to report that he will be returning to activities as of the April 19th live at Ikebukuro EDGE.translation by Elena
This means that Kazuharu will in fact be performing at AMARANYX’s upcoming free One Man that we announced last week.

Introducing: VAMPIRE ROSE
16
Apr, 2013
![]()
Here’s something out of the ordinary, even when it comes to Visual Kei.

This band has been around since the summer of 2012, but since we have not introduced them on Shattered Tranquility yet, this is being filed under an introduction post.
VAMPIRE ROSE is the solo project of Count ROSE, who is actually the chief of a themed restaurant in Ginza called Vampire Cafe. Support members are from different bands. SOPHIA’s Activity Pause
10
Apr, 2013
![]()

Sad news for SOPHIA fans today.
It was announced on Natalie.mu that SOPHIA would be stopping all band activities after their countrywide tour.
Natalie.mu’s article:
It has come to light that after their current countrywide tour, which is now in progress, SOPHIA will go on an activity pause.
For details on the activity pause, the band explained, “It’s because in 2014 we face our 20th anniversary and we share a mutual feeling of wanting to once again reevaluate our activities up until now, as well as our future as artists, the existence of all the fans supporting us, and the music that each member should express as SOPHIA.” The Nippon Budokan performance in Tokyo on August 12th will be the last live before the pause.
SOPHIA formed in 1994 and had their major debut in 1995. Facing the 15th anniversary since their debut, in 2010 it was disclosed that keyboardist Miyako Keiichi was suffering from a malignant follicular lymphoma tumor and the band took a temporary pause, but with Miyako’s recovery the next year, activity was restarted in 2011. They have released a new album, “Mirai Otona Sengen,” this past March.
And here’s what the band has to say:
Thank you for supporting SOPHIA, now more than ever.
It is a sudden bulletin, but after this current countrywide tour,
SOPHIA will pause band activity.Since the 2010 hiatus, we went through a contract cancellation and label transfer from the office we advanced together with for 15 years,
And with Miyako’s comeback we restarted band activity, but because in 2014 we face our 20th anniversary and we share a mutual feeling of wanting to once again reevaluate our activities up until now, as well as our future as artists, the existence of all the fans supporting us, and the music that each member should express as SOPHIA,
At this time we will take a break from activity. The current schedule is this countrywide tour,
And after this tour SOPHIA will stop all band activity. We would like to ask for your understanding,
Starting with all the many fans, and the staff we have worried.April 9, 2013

DIR EN GREY fans have had a lot to look forward to so far this year: their new mini album, “THE UNRAVELING,” EU tour dates, and a nationwide tour. Now Kyo, their vocalist, has opened his own official website and Twitter account.
There is not much information on the site yet, but it seems like a Facebook page and YouTube account will be added at some point as well.
For now, fans can purchase exclusive postcard sets or download free wallpapers designed by Kyo himself (though you might want to download them as soon as possible; according to the site, Kyo will change the downloads whenever he feels like it).

We hesitated a bit with posting this information since it was brought to our attention on April Fool’s Day, but now we can confirm that this is, indeed, true!
Jupiter is a 5-member band with Universal Music Japan. The branch they are debuting under is more directed towards Western music and an international audience, so it’s rumored that their activities are more directed globally.
The line-up will seem very familiar to many of you; with the exception of the vocalist (ZIN), all of the previous members of Versailles are a part of Jupiter.
Information on their OHP right now is scarce, but they have confirmed their first single release will be in Summer 2013 titled “Blessing of the Future” under the record label Thunderball667.
Their first live will be on April 17th at Takadanobaba AREA. They have a couple of others too, so check out the information if your interest is piqued yet:
