bagi-bogi-you-know-the-name-is-hot

We all love new bands!
And today I’m introducing a band that just formed in February of this year, バギーボギー (Bagi-bogi).

The members are:
Vocals - 隆宏 (Takahiro) (ex-R)
Guitar - 聡 (Satoshi)
Guitar - 正太郎 (Shotaro)
Bass - 裕 (Yuu)

They gave out their first demo single as a present at their lives, but so far that is the only item added in their discography.
With the concept of “anything goes”, they’ll be creating a storm in the year 2008!

They haven’t played around too many venues as of yet, and only have a couple lives planned in April and May. However, on July 31st they’re having a “the start of serious activites commemoration event”.

I’d love to hear what they sound like — they seem like they’ll be a fun, catchy and interesting band.

… on their OHP it says there’s sound, but it doesn’t work for me. It didn’t work for Ailea either.
If you can hear it, let me know!

news-from-backdrop-zeroshiki

They seemingly never posted an official announcement of it, however 輝夜 (Kiyo) has left バックドロップ零式 (Backdrop Zeroshiki). But, never fear! They have just added a new guitarist added to their ranks, ex-極彩フィルム (Gokusai Film)’s 慶 (Kei).

The band has also planned a three man live, with two band whose names have not yet been announced. Nice.

Want a bit more information on this band? Make sure you check out this post!

random-fact-of-the-day

Takeru (from SuG) has a habit of saving up food in his cheek when he eats. Kind of like a chipmunk. His reasoning for this habit was:

Also, even now I have this habit that was left behind from when I was a kid; when I’m eating something, I save up what I’m eating on the left side of my cheek. In kindergarten, we had this thing that was like a kick board, and there were only five of them, so everyone scrambled for them and it because it felt as if the people who were finished eating quickly were able to use it, without even swallowing I’d save everything up in my cheek get out of there. So the habit is probably left behind from that.

ko-kis-novelis-journal-entry

Ko-ki from NoveLis posted the following in his journal:

April 1st
I tried thinking about various things.
For a long, long time.
At our event, I’m going to be leaving the band.
I don’t want to be in a band anymore.
Sorry for the abrupt announcement.
Thank you for everything so far.
Even though it was a short time… and even though it was tough, it was fun and I was glad.
At the remaining lives, let’s have fun together!

… Those of you who were surprised, once you’ve calmed down, think about it!! Do you understand why I’d write this kind of thing?

Still don’t get it?

Here’s a hint. What day is it in Japan right now?

cannonball-vol-4

Every year a new edition of an omnibus album called CANNONBALL comes out.
This year, naturally, is no different.
CANNONBALL vol. 4 is set to be released on April 11th and features a total of seven bands. The tracklist isn’t published yet (from what I’ve seen at least…) but the bands participating are:
Bergerac
ダウト (D=OUT)
姫苺 (Himeichigo)
Juliette
ポワトリン (Poitrine)
キャンゼル (Canzel)
νNEU

The cost for this lovely omnibus album is 3200 yen.
The one thing I like about omnibus albums is that you can buy one CD and get a sampling of a bunch of different bands, which when you’re looking for new bands but need to save a little money, is always a helpful thing.

Posted on March 31, 2008 in Rant

ive-finally-broken

It’s been a while since there’s been a rant here on S-T, but I’ve given into temptation, however, there are two things I want to address first.

The first, which is completely unrelated, is that I want to say thanks to Jrock Visual for the apology. We’re not trying to be hard asses or bitchy or anything, and I know you understand where we’re coming from. Anyways, we appreciated and accept the apology.

Second, this rant is not directed towards anyone. If you think it’s directed towards you, you should take a little time to reflect.

Spamming every community you can think of with an ad, whether it be for your community or for something you’re selling is totally not cool nor is it acceptable.

Please be considerate and post only in a few communities and then maybe some time at a later date in a few more. Or post in communities which encompass more than one fandom.

I totally do not appreciate seeing the same thing for practically an entire friends page on my LiveJournal account. If I could ignore it, I would. Unfortunately, I can’t.

One thing this fandom lacks more than anything is common courtesy and respect amongst and between fans. This applies to posting as I just mentioned, but also how people interact with one another. I’m not saying everyone is horrible, mean or bad… or anything of that nature. There are a lot of nice fans that I’ve met.

But, in general, I have never seen a fandom that’s so catty towards one another. Everything seems to be a major competition. Who knows the most, who has the most, who has seen the most bands live. Really, if we all enjoy the music and the bands is this actually an issue? I mean, seriously?

There is new drama flaring up every single day, and it’s usually over something ridiculous. For example, person A buys a CD from band A. Person B apparently loves band A, but will not buy the CD and asks person A to share it. Person A refuses. Apparently, this makes them a bitch. Because, as we all know, everyone buys things to share them with random strangers on the internet. [/sarcasm]

No one is obligated to share anything. So stop acting as if they should be. They paid for it, you didn’t. If you want it that badly, buy it. Save up. Get a job. Buy it. Stop whining because they paid for it fair and square and won’t let you leech off of them. On the flip side, if you do choose to share that’s your decision. You’re not the king (or queen) of the world for doing so. You’re a generous person and a lot of fans appreciate what you’re doing, but remember that you didn’t actually make the music or do anything particularly extraordinary to get it.

As corny of a question as it sounds, Why can’t we all just get along?
Does it really bother you that much that there’s someone out there that doesn’t like your favourite band? Are you honestly that upset a band exists that you have to go bash the hell out of them for no apparent reason? Even worse, does the appearance of another fan (who you had to go out of your way to see photos of) really bother you? I mean, honestly? Is that actually an issue in your life?

Personally I do not like the lolita fashion… and cosplaying just isn’t something I really get or enjoy. Does that mean I feel like I have to go and insult everyone who likes or takes part in these things? No. I don’t care how they want to dress, it’s not my body and they’re not representing me. So why does it matter?

Everyone has and is entitled to their own opinions and since I’d like to think that most people in this fandom are intelligent human beings, you’d think we’d be able to actually respect each other’s opinions. I’m not saying you can’t disagree, that we all should get along, or that everyone should be sending hugs to each other — I’m just saying we need a little respect towards one another.

We’d learn more and get far more accomplished as a fandom if we’d stop putting each other down and learned to not only respect one another, but to have common courtesy and to … well, just move on. I’ve seen people crucified for asking a simple question. So what if they’re new to the band? Isn’t gaining fans a good thing?

I’m not trying to preach or lecture or anything… I’m just tired of the fighting and the lack of common sense (and courtesy) in the fandom. I also hope I’m not the only one who sees it. And while there is the odd person who definitely deserves what’s coming to them, for the most part it’s honestly killing the fun of being in communities and what not. You can tell me as many times as you want that the internet isn’t serious business – and to an extent, it’s not (or it shouldn’t be). And while it might just be ‘all in good fun’ you have to remember that there’s another real person on the other side of that screen.

This one costs 15,200yen which is a little more than the last one.

I actually preferred the last design. It was simple and nice and included his band’s name. This one’s okay, but it doesn’t do much for me, haha. But I do like that he put a drawing on this one even if it’s small and the cigarette’s a pretty cool idea xD

what-kagrra-has-been-up-to

Kagrra, has been up to some planning lately!
First up, is that in the summer of this year they’ll be putting out a new release that is featured on 怪談 新耳袋 (Kaidan Shinmimibukuro), which is a ghost story show that contains short films… that are ghost stories.

Next, is that they have a European tour planned for this summer! Details are not yet up, but we’ll update you when we know.

They’re also having another annual fanclub only live, on June 3rd at Shibuya O-WEST.

One last piece of news, is that the band will be taking part in a special fair put on by ESP called 「核心~To inside of the core tour 2008~」 (Kakushin). It takes place on April 13th at the ESP shibuya CRAFT HOUSE. They’re exhibiting the member’s costumes, guitars and bass at the store and anyone who purchases a Shin, Akiya or Nao model will receive a special favour.

ai-bans-ayamu

AI-BAN’s guitarist, あゆむ (Ayumu) has been having difficulties lately with continuing on with his musical activities due to family related circumstances. The band apologizes for the abrupt notice of this, and for causing any concern or anxiety. For the time being AI-BAN is going to carry out their scheduled performances and activities with only ナチ (Nachi) and Miu. They will, however, have support members (who they are currently deciding on) to help them out.

When they have any news, they will announce it to the fans, and hope that everyone can support them as they always have. They wanted to make sure that fans realize this is NOT an announcement of Ayumu leaving the band. He is just taking some time off for the time being. When there is more to report, they will do via their official mail magazine. And of course, we will do so here on the site.

a-week-worth-of-news-under-20-minutes

A new podcast is ready to go! As I say in the podcast, I’m sorry that I wasn’t able to put one out last week. Due to Easter I was busy pretty much all weekend, so I didn’t get a chance to sit down and do one.

This edition covers this week only. I thought of going back and doing two week’s worth of news, but with all the posting and news that’s found on S-T, I figured not only would it be way too much to do, but it’s probably too much news to take in a single sitting.

Anyways, I hope that you enjoy this episode! And as always, I’ll be back next week with a new one.

This week’s show features a song sample called Heart of shout by ANOTHER DIMENSION (who you can find more information about here).

We’ve been hearing so much about X JAPAN as of late, I decided to make today’s fact something interesting that I read in the news.

According to a Japanese news article about X JAPAN’s revival lives, YOSHIKI’s drum set was placed on a platform that was elevated 20 meters above the ground, making it the tallest (highest?) drum set to be performed on.

x-japan-to-perform-in-paris

At their performance on the 29th, YOSHIKI announced that X JAPAN will be traveling to France, and performing in Paris on July 5th. He said, “Today, we decided that X will have a performance in Paris. We hope to have a live that has an audience of around twenty thousand people”. He also said, “For ten years, fans have continued to support us, so by word of mouth we want to spread X JAPAN around the world”. They plan to have a video of hide at the live as well.

This is an important performance for all the members, so show them your smiling faces!

イクス (Ex), a band who went on an activity pause back on April 29th of 2007, has announced that on April 8th at HOLIDAY SHINJUKU they’ll be reopening full-blown activties!

In order to commemorate this, they’ll also be giving out a free CD for all those attending the live who have reserved their ticket with the band.

Furthermore, they have said that on the 8th, the band has an important announcement, which seems like it’ll be something good! I mean really, what’s the point of being like, ‘hey! We’re back!’ only to say, ‘annnnddd we’re disbanding!’ a few hours later, right?

They ask that everyone come see their rebirth, and be riotous at their live.
