YUCHI Speaks Out About sukekiyo

As an addendum to the previous introduction post for Kyo’s solo project sukekiyo, you can hear from one of the band members themselves!

sukekiyo

On December 30th, bassist YUCHI made a post on his Ameblo simply titled “sukekiyo.” As well as an explanation of the solo project, he also speaks about his feelings for the project. According to the post, YUCHI is the most junior member in the scene and sukekiyo is making quite an impact on him. Read for yourself what he has to say (translated by yours truly):

This is YUCHI!

This is a sudden announcement.

I’ve been allowed to participate in the start of a new genuine band!
I’ve been posting bits and pieces about it since around this summer,
but my new project = the band I’m in now!

The name of the band is “sukekiyo”
and the members are as follows:

京(Kyo) (DIR EN GREY)

匠(Takumi) (ex-RENTRER EN SOI)

UTA (ex-9GOATS BLACK OUT)

YUCHI

未架 (Mika) (ex-RENTRER EN SOI)

I was invited to be in sukekiyo by DIR EN GREY’s Kyo,
and I have been allowed to participate in their band activities!

In terms of instrumental ability, they’re all senior to me, and they’re all wonderful musicians.
Whether it’s the composition, the songs, or their world view, they’re all very rich and intense and it’s so cool that
I’d say it’s the first time I’ve probed into music this deeply in my personal history.

Anyway, I’ll also be trying my best, so please give me your support!

I’ll let you know about our future activity plans later on.

Of course I’ll be in sukekiyo,
but from now on I’ll be continuing on as support for other acts at the same time,
so I think I’ll be able to expand my horizons as a musician and as a bassist.

It’s a daily devotion!

Anyway, it’s like this and that!
Please continue to support me from now on, too

YUCHI

As we mentioned in the previous introduction post, you can hear sukekiyo for yourself by purchasing their first music video “aftermath” on iTunes on January 1st, 2014. As we wait for more updates from the band, let us know what you think about Kyo’s exciting new solo project. What kind of sound do you think it will have? What else have you heard? And how about that lineup? Leave us a comment or two and start a discussion!
