2019 has some big changes in store for Chanty.
On December 28, Chanty announced that guitarist Chitose would be leaving the band on April 10, 2019. Chitose has found another path that he wants to challenge himself with, and his members and management have allowed him to embark on this new path. Here’s our translation of the band’s official announcement:
Thank you for your continuous support for Chanty.
Guitarist Chitose has expressed his desire to leave the band, and so he will make his departure from Chanty following the band’s solo show on April 10, 2019 at Takadanobaba Club Phase.
We apologize to fans and those involved that have supported Chanty for causing concern and inconvenience with this news.
Our plans following our lineup change have not been decided, but we will notify you as soon as there is some development.
We are truly sorry to everyone who had been looking forward to the 4 members’ band activities.
Please continue to offer your support to Chanty.
Below is a comment from Chitose.
I’ll be leaving Chanty on April 10, 2019 after our Takadanobaba Phase show.
As for why, it’s because I’ve found a path outside of music that I want to challenge myself to walk.
I decided to leave the band because I feel like this is my last chance to embark on that challenge.
I’m so grateful to everyone that has supported me until now.
I’m going to give it my all until the end, so please continue to support me.
Edit: Chitose further elaborated on his reason for leaving in a blog post. The bittersweet reason may surprise you. Here’s our translation:
I already said this in the announcement, but I’ll be leaving Chanty after the April 10, 2019 show at Takadanobaba Club Phase.
I’m sorry the news is so sudden.
Just like my official comment says, I’ve found something outside of music that I want to challenge myself with.
The inspiration for wanting to do this stems from the recurrence of my mother’s cancer.
I worried, “Is it really okay to continue on with Chanty like this?”
The other members were constantly worried about my mother and her condition for me.
And then I was unable to maintain the balance between protecting the quality of Chanty and protecting the household as the eldest son in my family.
After talking it over with my family, we decided that I’m going to learn the basics of cooking from my mother while she still has the ability to move around.
Then, after leaving Chanty, I’m going to set up a bento shop.
I thought about putting away my guitar for good after leaving Chanty.
But my parents, friends, and senpai that I adore warmly encouraged me, “Keep playing guitar!”
I love the guitar.
So as soon as I can find a balance after starting my new job in April, I’m going to keep playing guitar.
From the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful to everyone that has supported me over the past 6 years. It’s because of you that I was able to make it this far.
I hope I can make people smile with my cooking and my music.
Also, I’m going to keep on playing with Chanty. As long as the fans stick by me, I won’t stop.
I hope you can continue to support me.
