Jack Caper (ジャックケイパー) members and fans didn’t have such a great Christmas.
On December 26, Jack Caper posted a Tweet regarding the disappearance of their guitarist Hinata. He failed to show up to the band’s show on December 24, so the four-member band played with only three members. The band was worried he’d been in an accident, but the reality was different. Here’s our translation of the band’s official announcement:
“Thank you for your continuous support for Jack Caper.
We have to make an apology and give you some news about our guitarist Hinata.
Hinata skipped out on the band’s December 24 show without permission, and since the company was unable to contact him following the incident, we have decided to end his contract as of December 26.
We apologize to fans and those involved for causing such inconvenience and concern with this news.
Also, Jack Caper will continue on with band activities as usual with just 3 members, so we ask you to give them a little extra support.
Here are the circumstances that led to this announcement.
On the day of the December 24, Hinata didn’t show up at the scheduled meeting time and we were unable to reach him on his mobile phone. In order to confirm his safety, we visited his house, only to find he wasn’t there. We decided that it was possible he was in an accident or some trouble, so we told everyone, “He will be absent from today’s show due to poor health.” We waited for word from him, but the remaining three members went on with the show as scheduled anyway. It wasn’t until after the show that we were contacted by him.
Just past 9 p.m. on the 24th, the band’s manager received a message from Hinata saying things like, “I don’t want to be scolded. I don’t want to play guitar. I don’t want to play shows.” In a one-sided decision, he blocked us from contacting him and deleted his Twitter account.
None of the band members received any contact from him. The next night, on December 25, the band manager received a phone call from Hinata, whose phone was previously dead. When the manager said, “We want to meet and talk directly,” Hinata replied, “When I calm down, I’ll go and talk to you,” and hung up.

The remaining three members (their artist photo has already been updated to reflect this) have commented on Twitter expressing their apologies to fans and their mixed feelings towards Hinata’s behavior. While they are disappointed by how he’s treating the fans, they also feel bad for not realizing that something this troubling was going on with him. The band supposedly got along during their band time and during their off time, but they weren’t aware of his feelings about all of this. Even now, none of them have received contact from him.
Despite this unfortunate outcome, Jack Caper’s remaining three members are assuring fans that they won’t quit anytime soon, so fans can still look forward to more of the band’s music in the New Year.
