Remember when we told you about bassist Akinori’s run-in with Aichi Prefectural police? Unfortunately, things only went downhill from there.
On December 20th, lynch. posted an official announcement on their website explaining the current situation: the charges against Akinori, his departure from the band, and the band’s resulting activity pause. Read our translation of the official announcement below (translated by yours truly):
Thank you for your continuous support for lynch.
On November 22nd, 2016, bassist Akinori was arrested and taken into custody by Aichi Prefectural Police. On December 13th, he was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, thereby violating Cannabis Control Laws.
Both band and management have considered his arrest very seriously, and have ultimately come to the decision to terminate his contract and dismiss him from the band as of December 20th, 2016.
We sincerely apologize to fans, staff, and all those involved for this troubling announcement.
We have also decided to refrain from holding lives right now, and have canceled all of our upcoming shows.
We will notify you when we plan to restart live activities.
Please continue to give your support to lynch.
While Akinori’s arrest and charges are undoubtedly upsetting to fans, they can at least take some comfort in the fact that the band will continue on after a break.
