Just before the end of 2018, Minus Jin-Say Orchestra had a disappointing announcement for fans. According to their official website, they will be disbanding on June 2, 2019. We’ve translated the official announcement for you below:
“We apologize for such sudden news.
On June 2, 2019,
Minus Jin-Say Orchestra will disband.
As for how this happened,
it started when Motoharu said he wanted to leave the band.
During a meeting in which we discussed this with management,
Yukke expressed that he also wanted to leave the band.
We think Minus Jin-Say Orchestra is at its best with the 5 of us,
and even then it’s a delicate balance.
It only makes sense that this balance would be disrupted if something like this happened.
We thought about alternatives and discussed it at length.
When considering everyone’s circumstances and future,
the painful decision we came to was to break up.
We sincerely apologize to our fans for this devastating announcement.
We keep on being our goofy selves until the end,
so we hope you can do the same with us.
We want to express our gratitude for the love we’ve received over the past ten years.
and you are.
Minus Jin-Say Orchestra”
Each member commented further on the band’s decision to split. Motoharu explained that he wanted to set out on a different path in life, and the members supported him in this.
Yukke said how painful this decision was, and explained that his reason for wanting to leave the band was his fear of coming to hate music. He realized that the only way to both continue music and support his lifestyle was to become a band that sells – and that’s not what he wanted. He wants to enjoy music and what he does.
Minus Jin-Say Orchestra still has half a year left. We’re not sure if there’s one last release in the works, but we should hear about their next steps sometime during the New Year.
