Introducing: Wagakki Band

Wagaki Band 2014Those of you in the dark about Wagakki Band和楽器バンド」, be enlightened! They have the sounds of traditional Japan mixed in with that visual kei you’re all familiar with. Yuko’s vocals are hauntingly reminiscent of traditional Japanese folk music, but still have that visual kei flare. The essential rock guitar, bass, and drums mix flawlessly with Japan’s cultural instruments: the shakuhachi, the shamisen, the wadaiko, and the koto. With so much musical talent in one group, you really have to see them for yourself at a live. These lives are also not so frequent, as some of the members are part of other bands, or have various duties outside of Wagakki Band. In the meantime, we’ll introduce the members and show you what you’ve been missing out on!

There is also more information on the members, available in English, on their website. In the meantime, if you’d like to sample their traditional Japanese rock-style, take a look!

As mentioned earlier, they are each busy as individuals, so their lives are not as frequent as regular bands. Currently, they have a few lives planned for next year. Considering how rare it may be to hear their sound in person, check out the schedule and make it a point to reserve your tickets as soon as you possibly can! They have a one-man live scheduled for January 7th to celebrate New Years, but it is sold out! If you were lucky enough to nab these tickets, congrats! If not, get a ticket for one of these lives A.S.A.P.

Sounds really cool! About the name, is waggaki some kind of funny romanization from their side or was wagakki just accidentally misspelled? Im pretty curious about this band :)

Oh, that was my bad. Thanks for catching it. I must have been tired. But it is Wagakki. Glad you’re interested in them, though!
