After a band disbands, it isn’t typical that there is a story bigger than their final goodbyes.
So, Signal fans were surprised to find this morning that not only had the band announced something on their twitters, but had also put out a rather long entry for their fans.
What was inside has left many fans shocked.
It was announced by the ex-members that on September 12th, two days prior to their final One Man at Meguro LIVESTATION, that their bassist, Shion, cleaned out the band’s bank account. The band chose not to announce the theft at the final live and only decided to come forward with the information after Shion continued to ask for money from former Signal Staff members.
It was also announced that the band was repaid the money Shion embezzled from Shion’s parents.
Shattered-Tranquility’s Shannon has translated guitarist Rua’s announcement. Please note that the last paragraph is directly from Rua, and is not part of the band’s overall comment. It has been edited with the help of AdventureTim.
Since there are a lot of you who may still be confused, we feel it’s our responsibility to explain, and so please allow us to connect the dots for you.
First of all, to all of our supporters, we are deeply sorry for causing such distress.
Following this announcement, I understand that both I and the band members will probably receive some harsh judgment, but we are sincerely prepared to take the criticism and ask that you let us tell the whole story.
People who have seen the Tweets on both Yuri and Rua’s accounts may already know this, but something absolutely unforgivable happened to us.
On September 12th, 2013, the embezzlement of our bank account by bassist SHION came to light.
That’s the whole truth.
Even now, we’re not sure for what purpose the money was used, but the money that was supposed to be in the bank account was almost completely gone.
The money itself isn’t the problem; the fact that the money we worked on hands and knees as a band for was being used by him, and that he deceived us by hiding it behind lie after lie is something we can’t forgive.
I’m sure most of our fans would say the same.
We haven’t been sacrificing our lifestyles and working so hard as a band just to supply SHION’s extravagant lifestyle.
This incident caused a lot of trouble for everyone related to SIGNAL.
In the end, the full sum was repaid by his parents, but we think SHION’s actions in this situation are something that should not be forgiven.
One thing we want you to understand, though, is that the words, tears, and smiles shared (between members) at our last live were not a charade.
We believed that we shouldn’t bring our band’s outside problems to the stage, so we decided to perform with all our might as a band.
The embraces and tears spilled on that day were also honest.
We couldn’t forgive him, but we decided “Today is today, and even you, who always performed the best lives together with us, are still part of this group.” With that kind of reconciliation, we closed the book on SIGNAL’s activities.
None of us planned on announcing this truth at the last live.
But even after that, because we also learned that he had been pestering our band staff for more money and other such misdeeds also came to light, we wanted to tell everyone the whole story.
We’re really, truly sorry if this story has shaken anyone up.
We are also deeply reflecting on the fact that we ended up hurting a lot of fans’ feelings.
It was the band’s decision to make an official announcement to those who were still confused about this vague situation, and we ask for your understanding.
It’s really disappointing that the first blog update I’ve made in a while is an entry like this.
Because of what’s written above, I don’t recognize SHION as a friend anymore.
It’s really painful.
Even though we three members have wrapped up all of our feelings and told you this, we haven’t told you anything.
I won’t talk about it anymore from now on.
We are sorry for causing trouble.
Fans may be aware that Shion has not responded to the allegations, and has not replied to any tweets for several days. Of course, if he chooses to respond to the allegations brought by his ex-bandmates, Shattered-Tranquility will be there with updates.
Unfortunately, this form of band drama is not unheard of, as many fans will remember the recent stories involving Rubik firing their vocalist, Futurism Boyz canceling lives due to the legal issues of their singer, and Liv’ert dismissing their guitarist because of missing lives. And, with no doubt, more drama like this will continue to be uncovered in the visual kei industry.
