DAZZLE VISION Screams on Spotify

Are you ready to be ~dazzled~ at home? Or at work? Or during your commute?

Japanese sibling-led screamo sensation DAZZLE VISION has officially been spotted on Spotify! Three of their earlier releases, including a remastered version of their first EP, ORIGIN OF DAZZLE, have been added to their streamable discography, joining their more recent full-length albums Camellia Japonica and Crystal Children.

Heavier than their name might suggest, DAZZLE VISION‘s sound is an unpredictable and ever-changing blend of various rock styles, from metal to alternative to thrash and more, with the dominant feature being weighty, distorted strings and stick-spinning drums accented by vocalist Maiko‘s characteristic deathvoice. In fact, their song arrangements seem to emphasize the ease with which Maiko transitions from singing to screaming – an impressive feat when one considers the technique, effort, and control required. But while all of their releases do have a distinct DAZZLE VISION something about them, it’s hard to pigeonhole the group into any one genre (even if they label themselves as “screamo-pop”).

Now, you can trace their transitions with ease just by logging in to your Spotify account.

DAZZLE VISION – made up of vocalist Maiko, bassist Takuro, guitarist Tony, and drummer Haru – has drawn influence from the international music scene and has always demonstrated an interest in both making their music accessible to fans and venturing out of Japan’s archipelago, so the decision to release their music on Spotify, the free, international online music streaming service, should come as little surprise. Whether you use the app (available for iOS and Android) or you tune in from your computer, Spotify lets you stream music, create playlists, get suggestions, and share your tastes through Facebook and Twitter. If the free features aren’t enough (maybe your ears ache for a higher bitrate, or you can’t stand ads, or you want to download songs for when you aren’t connected), you can upgrade to the Spotify Unlimited or Spotify Premium services for modest monthly fees (which vary by region). Maybe you’re already a fan but want to access their music anywhere, or you’re a newbie who wants to test the waters before you “commit” to adding them to your music repertoire; either way, Spotify is an excellent (and free) way to listen at home or on the go.

This release is just one more step in a global direction for the frenzied foursome who, in July, released the live album of their April 2013 performance at Pittsburgh’s Tekkoshocon. Currently in the midst of a Japanese tour to promote Live in Pittsburghwhich you can also pick up for a mere $20 at JRockShop -, the band hasn’t announced any plans to leave Japan for the rest of 2013, but who knows what 2014 will bring. You give them a listen, and we’ll keep an eye out for word of any world tours.
