The first survivor voted off Mago Island was Hizaki from the Blue Tribe. Despite his efforts at the Reward Challenge, Hizaki made waves with fellow tribe members when he criticized the shelter on an aesthetic level, which Reiya, Mitsu and Kazuma had worked hard to build.
The three shelter builders made a pact to vote for Hizaki which they all fulfilled.
Our survivors are a week into their stay on the island. Winning the reward challenge, the Blue Tribe has been eating quite well as they can easily make fires to cook food and boil water. The Red Tribe, although glad to win immunity, has been struggling with making a fire and has yet to be successful at doing so which is causing some tension between the members.
The Reward Challenge
This week the boys are playing for fishing gear and a bamboo fishing boat! Their challenge is quite difficult this week. First, as a team, they have to carry a large wooden snake (which is on poles; each member gets one pole) through a maze. The snake is both long and heavy and cannot be dragged; it must be carried. Once they make it through the maze, one member of the tribe has to run to the post, grab the key and unlock the gate. Unlocking the gate also lowers the draw bridge which the snake must be carried across onto the assembly platform. However, before they reach the platform there is one more gate which must be unlocked. Once on the platform, each member has to find the hole that fits their pole — just like a puzzle. After all the pieces are in correctly, the snake will be able to stand on it’s own and each tribe member must cross the finish line. The first team with every member over the line wins.
The Red tribe has one extra member, so they choose Saga to sit this one out.
The game started out with a few issues; but both tribes were racing neck in neck through the twists and turns of the maze. Tripping over his own two feet, Meguru fell, scraping his knee on a maze wall. However, that didn’t stop the Red tribe and eventually they were in the lead. Mitsu lost his way in the maze, the man taking off his shoe and throwing it at the dead end. One shoe less, he spent a few moments debating his situation, knowing his team would be enraged. However, he eventually decided to do a U-turn and try another route. He could always blame Kazuma for this, right? Yes, somehow Kazuma would be to blame for him getting lost.
With the Blue tribe lost in the maze the Red tribe pushed ahead, sending Kyotaro to unlock the first gate, they made it over the draw bridge. After much frustration, the Blue tribe reached the first gate. They sent Mizuki out for the key, but he failed to help their situation, fumbling with the lock.
The Red tribe reached the assembly platform in record time, but both Asanao and Jin struggled to find the right holes for their poles giving the Blue tribe some time to catch up. Despite their valiant efforts, Sono was the last man to make it across the finish line, sealing the blue tribe’s fate. The Red tribe had won the reward challenge.
The Immunity Challenge
After their defeat at the reward challenge, the Blue tribe was determined to win — they did not want to have to send anyone home this week!
For their challenge this week each team must send ONE MEMBER AT A TIME down the beach, into the water and out to the crate marked with their tribe colour. Once the first member has reached the crate and is touching it, the second can make their journey down the beach. Once all members are out at the crate, one must dive down and unlock it. Together, the tribe must swim with the crate back to shore and drag it across the finish line. The first tribe back wins.
The stakes are high for Red. Not only is this an immunity challenge, but if they win they also get flint so that they too can make a fire.
Things were going smoothly, each tribe running down the beach one by one and swimming out to the crate in the water. Meguru, who was chosen to sit out for Red, was on the beach watching….and complaining. Curse his stupid knee, curse hurting himself. He could see the others smiling as they played their little game. He wanted to do his part and show them he was indispensable. He couldn’t complain too much, his team was in the lead.
Saga was extra strong in this challenge, having both the luxury of sitting out in the first game and being a good swimmer. Of course there were moments where the members of his tribe were screaming ‘I’m drowning, I’m drowning!’ while they others screamed ‘swim damn it’. Kaya especially was having trouble staying afloat, but he fought his hardest against the water; a noble effort noticed by all tribe members.
Sadly the blue tribe was full of issues on this day. They eventually lost, Kenzi stating that Vict was a slow swimmer while Reiya wasn’t even thinking about the game. Reiya seemed to be in his own world, though the other members didn’t dare to ask what the hell he was thinking. Some things are just better left unknown. They did get their crate back to the shore, but the sand proved to be their most trying obstacle.
Random Happenings Back at Base Camp
The Red Tribe
・ Upon seeing his reflection in the water, Saga notices that chunks of his hair have mysteriously gone missing. He runs his hands through his hair numerous times to make sure he isn’t balding. Mamo and Kyotaro watch him and snicker.
・ Kaya tries to comfort Saga, telling him it isn’t that bad. Tomozo informs Saga that Kaya is lying and it looks hideous. Saga decides that he will get Tomozo back for his words. Sure, he was being honest…but he didn’t want to hear it put so bluntly.
・ With their new fishing gear Jin and Asanao decide to head out in the boat to fish. They both wanted some time away from the hair situation and decide to make themselves useful. They are quite successful and return with a net filled with little fish.
・ Wanting to prove himself, Meguru takes the flint and is the first to make an awesome fire. Being skilled in the culinary area, he also takes it upon himself to cook the fish that Jin and Asanao had caught. Kaya helps by elegantly plating the food on large leaves.
・ Due to the hair incident, Mamo and Kyotaro have a growing friendship. Feeling guilty about Saga’s hair, they take inspiration from Asanao and make a leaf hat to hide Saga’s poor hair cut. Saga is touched (he doesn’t know they cut it to begin with) and Asano grows jealous of the sexy hat feeling frustrated with his own collection.
The Blue Tribe
・ The Blue tribe is low on spirits after suffering two defeats and each member takes it out on another. Insults fly and a few punches are thrown. In the end each of the boys takes some alone time to cool off.
・Mitsu, being the most picked on for getting stuck in the maze, wanders off into the forest. He walks for nearly three hours and spots a member from the Red tribe through the trees. Unsure what to do, he takes off back towards the Blue camp, keeping the path he took in mind.
・ Realizing how close he was to getting voted off the island at tribal council, Reiya makes an effort to make up with everyone. He continues to be the designed fire maker and gathers fire making supplies in the forest. Kazuma joins him and the two talk about their shelter builders pact.
・ After the fight, Kenzi takes off to his secret location which he has escaped to numerous times in the past week. When it’s time to eat, with a heavy sigh Sono and Vict go out searching for him. Why does he run off like that and where does he go? Along the way they too decide to create a pact .
・ Mizuki is somehow voted as the member who has to clean up after meals. He does so, begrudgingly, storing any leftover food and hiding it for himself. Feeling bad about the tribe being so demanding, Kazuma decides to help but fails to notice Muzki’s squirreling.
Tribal Council
Unfortunately, the Blue tribe lost the immunity challenge and therefore one of them will have to be sent home. Don’t forget to cast your vote! You can find the Survivor poll on the sidebar to your right. Who do you think should be off the island?

Poor Blue team…. Mizuki seems to have bad luck.
I hope Reiya makes it another week!! O_O
