It seems like things for Merry’s bassist Tetsu will be laid up for quite some time.
As we reported earlier in the month, Merry’s Tetsu was injured at their event live “Freaks Addict Tour beyond” at Okayama CRAZYMAMA on October 12th.
Today, Merry updated their OHP with the following message, which has been translated by Ku of S-T:
During the MERRY x lynch. presents “Freaks Addict Tour beyond” performance at Okayama CRAZYMAMA KINGDOM, bassist Tetsu had a minor accident and sustained an injury.
When Tetsu was watching the event from the audience floor, he suffered internal bruises to his neck due to contact from a stage dive* and was immediately transported to a hospital. A medical examination found (central) spinal cord damage which will take three months for a full recovery.
In order for Tetsu to return as soon as possible, please allow him this critical time to focus on recovery in accordance with his physician’s determination.
We assure you that Tetsu himself is now fully conscious.
MERRY’s members and staff have discussed the performances which are currently scheduled, and have decided to respect Tetsu’s strong wish that all performances continue as planned.
In addition, we will welcome a long-time friend of Tetsu’s as a support bassist for the performances.
We would like to ask for your understanding despite the inconvenience this may cause.
I’m sorry for worrying you.
It sounds like I’ll recover completely but it’ll take a little time.
I’m in a hospital room, but I’ll even keep carrying the banner of “devour” which MERRY has adopted.
My reason is that I’ll be damned if I lose to something so insignificant.
I talked with the other members about the fact I don’t want to slow down the momentum that the band has now, all the way until I recover.
Also, I have faith in him, so I’ve decided to call upon a bassist with whom MERRY is also close.
In order to return to the stage as soon as possible I’ll focus on my recovery.
I’m coming to fully realize that there is no me without lives.
Treat me well when I’ve come back again.

*Note: The sentence in question is very vague as to exactly what occurred. The passiveness of the quote does not state if Tetsu stage-dived, fell into the crowd, or had someone stage-dive into him.
While the damage sounds pretty scary, it’s good news to know that Tetsu should be back in tip-top shape by the coming 2014 year.
As mentioned, Merry will continue on with their upcoming tour schedule. The name of the bassist who will be continuing in Tetsu’s place until he is well enough to continue has yet to be named, but it should be known prior to their upcoming live at Sendai darwin on October 28th.
