For those of you who think Visual Kei is dying, maybe this will help to make that glass look half-full again.
On October 1st, in Osaka’s bustling Shinsaibashi, five bands made an appearance at Rozetta Cafe. The occasion?
Not just one, but two new V-kei labels have begun operations! RevleZ and Belmosaic fans will now find their favorite artists under the label “Rozetta,” while Purple Stone, 少年記(Shounenki), and Gimmick have moved to “CRIMZON.”
Why were the labels established? The labels’ manager explained that while the Kansai area of Japan has certainly produced some big labels in the V-kei world (Under Code, for one), today’s V-kei society isn’t seeing many new labels. The ultimate goal is to help start a new Visual Kei movement.
But, another question lingers. Why establish both labels at the same time? To incite some healthy competition, the manager explains. All of the young bands on both labels are strong-willed and hard-working; to make them look at each other as rivals and, in turn, further spur them on their way to success, both Rozetta and CRIMZON were created.
What do you think, readers? Have any of your favorite bands joined the label change? Will Rozetta and CRIMZON help raise Visual Kei among the ranks of popular music once again? Let us know!
