That’s right, fans. Miyavi is hitting the big screen Hollywood style.
The self-proclaimed “samurai guitarist” will star as the main villain in a film directed by world-famous Angelina Jolie, “Unbroken.” The Universal Pictures film is based on the tale of Lou Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was captured and taken prisoner during World War II. In Miyavi’s role as “The Bird,” he tries to break Zamperini’s athletic spirit every step of the way. Miyavi’s passionate audition won casters over in a careful, worldwide search. He will be playing alongside actors such as Jack O’Connell and John Magaro.
The film isn’t set to be released until Christmas 2014, so fans will have a bit of time to enjoy the rock star’s music before he lets his inner actor shine. Filming begins in two weeks in Australia.
