This isn’t terribly new-news, but popped up on our radar recently. Kon, ex-NightingeiL and La’Mule, who is now the front man for bandage-toting CELL, was struck and injured by a car about two weeks ago. This news comes shortly after drummer Masato called out for the September 16th live due to illness. It’s an unlucky time for CELL, but the good news is that everyone seems to be doing well.
Here’s his explanation of the incident, from his blog on September 20th:
Incident Report; Lower back super-twisted, ankle severely sprained
When I was walking at night, a car came from a side road and struck me without stopping.
My leg and lower back were injured and I was immediately taken away in an ambulence
I was taken to the examination room by wheelchair, and was given a detailed examination.
Even though the result was that I have no fractures or anything, my right foot and lower back are in intense pain and I can’t walk…
There’s a possibility that other parts of me might start to hurt later, too…
I thought about it.
I got crutches.
Without knowing how to use them I called a taxi and went home.
I practiced using a cane at home.
I’ll be busy with a lot of band work after this but what will be the outcome?
For now I’ll be going to the hospital
It’s a fight to the death.
Since the incident, Kon has mentioned his condition in a few other blog posts and it sounds like he’s getting better.
My injuries are recovering nicely.
I want to see you at the LIVES.
I’m recovering, but I have to go to the hospital every so often.
I’m going to the hospital now.
When I’m being negligent because the crutches are alright, stairs…
Normally we don’t think anything of them, but stairs are dreaded.
After all, I need the crutches.
To the hospital, then
The other day, the doctor asked what kind of rock I play, so I said a hospital-related band. He gave me a bitter smile.
CELL’s next live isn’t until October 20th. So far, there has been no indication that Kon will not perform, but we’ll keep on the lookout for updates.
