Fans of Artemis may have been confused in the myriad of news that’s been popping up about the band since the end of July. Unfortunately, there isn’t a happy ending for fans.
Artemis, who has been together since 2008, officially ended band activities on September 18, 2017. Prior to that, they had announced current vocalist Bunji’s departure from the band in late July. In August, they announced that members Nagi (Gt.), Hiroya (Ba.), and Zoe (Dr.) would also leave the band, and the band would effectively enter a hiatus. The day of their departure? September 17, 2018.
Up until the day of September 17, it was assumed that Artemis would continue on with only Yuki. However, on September 17 (which also happened to be Yuki’s birthday), the band’s official Twitter further announced that the band’s official website would be erased without prior warning. The next day, they announced that this would not be a hiatus, but a breakup. So, the final verdict is: Artemis is over.
The good news? Most of the members are still involved in music. We’re not sure where Nagi and Zoe are at the moment, but we know that Bunji is playing in a LUNA SEA copy band next month, Hiroya will play in a session band soon, and Yuki has joined another band named Nostalgic Anarchy (ノスタルジックアナーキー). It doesn’t seem like it will turn into a full-fledged band for now, but you can follow their activities on Twitter.
