We at S-T were looking forward to a rejuvenated LICKER after the band had decided to restart activities this year. Unfortunately, it looks like this era for the group has come to an end as well.
LICKER are set to stop musical activities, this time indefinitely, after the band’s final show on November 13th. The reason behind the breakup seems to be guitarist NICO’s decision to retire from musical activities. We have parting messages from all the band members, translation courtesy of S-T’s own Shannon.
I’m really sorry for this sudden news.
It was difficult to make this announcement; I was scared because I didn’t know if you’d be able to accept the conclusion we arrived at – to enter an indefinite hiatus.
The image of you who love us, support us, and hid among fans at event lives to cheer us on is etched into my mind. I think this is the second chapter of that LICKER.
Even for me, it was sudden. It took time for me to come to terms with it.
Now that I’ve accepted it, I think the best we can do is paint these remaining seven shows with all of the power we’ve got, and whittle down our lives without regrets.
We’ll also do our best to end it all with smiles, so that not just NICO, but everyone can graduate from LICKER smiling.
I will perform from the bottom of my heart. I will sing. I will scream.
So, everyone, smile until the end.
Until the last moment,
I’ll work to make your time left with LICKER and Cra precious.
Now, lend me your power!
First, I’m sorry for causing so much distress among the members with the selfishness of my retirement.
And I’m truly sorry that, as a result, the band will be entering an indefinite hiatus.
The reason I came to this decision is because during my time with LICKER I’ve started to lose sight of my own values. In this state, I felt I’d reached my limit.
It really troubled me.
I felt that standing on stage and being in close contact with you all with these vague feelings would only lead to feelings of betrayal from you all. So, I ultimately decided to retire.
I’m going to play these last shows with everything I’ve got, so please continue to support us.
let you regret
An indefinite hiatus… I’m really sorry that things have come to this.
I’m sorry to everyone who hoped for LICKER’s revival and supported us.
But since this is the decision all of us members came to… I want you to understand.
I’m sad that we’ll be entering an indefinite hiatus, but as someone who quit LICKER once, I never thought the day I’d be able to play drums with everyone again would come. Even though it was a short time, I’m really glad that I was able to make music with everyone once again.
The time I spent with everyone was fun. I was truly happy.
There are still some lives left, so I want to make even more fun memories with all of you.
So show me your smiling faces.
And let me speak from my heart.
Thank you so much.
Let’s smile a lot until the very last day.
