You may recall S-T’s journey through visual kei history with LUNATIC FEST. in 2015. The 2-day event showcased not only some up-and-coming visual kei bands, but also predecessors to the genre and even some borderline bands that drew influence from those predecessors.

Now, there’s an even bigger event, and it promises to showcase the purest of visual kei bands. Visual Summit 2016 will take place at Makuhari Messe Halls 9-11 in Tokyo for a full three days between October 14 – October 16. It’s headed by none other than the founder of visual kei itself, X JAPAN (and supported by world-famous Rakuten). Visual Summit 2016 is actually the revival of Ecstasy Summit, the last of which took place over 20 years ago in Osaka and Tokyo.

Some huge acts have been announced so far: X JAPAN, LUNA SEA, GLAY, Golden Bomber, and…hide with Spread Beaver? That’s right, hide with Spread Beaver.

Interested in going? 1-day passes are available for 14,000yen, and a 3-day pass will cost you 39,000yen. The combination of all the performing bands’ fanclub presales have left all three days sold out, but organizers are working to make more ticket space. Don’t lose hope yet! There are also hints that the festival will be broadcast live for viewers worldwide.

You can keep up with Visual Summit 2016 through a wealth of social media.
