Recently, there has been very little news regarding Shun’s (ex Vasalla, JILS, C4) project the FUZZ. Unfortunately, when it comes to bands, no news is rarely good news.
Shun has announced that his project, which has been 15 years in the running, is set to end sometime next June. Before that time, Shun will release his final album under the “FUZZ” name this December. 「音の凪の向こうに」 “Oto no Nagi no Mukou ni” ships on December 10th for approximately 3,500 yen. The album is said to have 20 tracks, including unreleased songs, re-recorded songs, and covers. Please click HERE to pre-order your copy!
Regarding the breakup, here’s what Shun himself had to say about the news. Thanks to Shannon for the translation!
“Along with the announcement of the new release, the FUZZ’s band activities will also come to an end. We’re planning on having the last live next year around my birthday.
The last show should be a one-man, right?
It hasn’t been decided yet, but I’ll let you know when it is.
I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s not the last show, but since we don’t have a lot of performances, the summer lives planned for now, the sponsored event in December, and these last shows will probably be the only ones.
So, if you can, I want you to come to all of them.
I’m not retiring? Haha
I can’t retire from being a musician yet, so I’m planning on being involved in all different kinds of music from here on out.
I won’t participate in band activities as the FUZZ anymore, but I’ll make as much time as I can to be with all of you.
I considered quitting being a musician altogether, but there are definitely still things I want to do, haha.
Well, there are still a lot of things I’m thinking about and worrying about.
But writing about them repetitively isn’t going to help, so I want to spend the time I have left with you without regrets.”
