Unfortunate news for fans of Diz today–it seems that drummer Mitsuru will be leaving the band.
Mitsuru, citing different goals as his reason for leaving the band, will officially no longer be a member after their show on August 1st at Ikebukuro Black Hole.
It is always sad news when a member of a band decides to leave. It happens all too often, however. Although it makes sense given how many decisions must be made as a band that there will be disagreements, it is always a shame when someone ultimately departs from the band.
Diz is a fairly recent band, getting their start just over a year ago in April 2013. Since then they have been touring and in the studio a bit. They released their first single in October of 2013. It is too bad that Mitsuru will be leaving while Diz is still at the start of their career.
The following announcement and comment were posted on Mitsuru’s official blog on July 23rd, and have been translated by our own Shannon.
To all of Diz’s supporters
July 23rd, 2014
To all of Diz’s supporters,
Drummer Mitsuru will be leaving Diz.
We are deeply sorry to all of our supporters for this sudden announcement.
This was the conclusion that was reached after repeated discussions between the 4 members due to differing goals.
The remaining members support Mitsuru’s decision.
As such, our live at Ikebukuro BlackHole on August 1st will be his last.
We apologize for such disappointing news.
To all of those who supported Mitsuru,
And to all of those involved, we apologize from the bottom of our hearts for causing such trouble.
From August 2nd onwards, Diz will continue band activities with the 3 members
And a support drummer.
We ask that you please continue to give us your unchanging support.
I’m sorry this is so sudden.
I’ve experienced band member departures and breakups in my past bands, and I understand how serious it is and how selfish of an act it is.
Due to our differing goals, I don’t want to continue on like this, and it would be the cause of destruction for the band.
More than anything, I don’t want to show you that kind of Diz continuing on.
In order to prevent that from happening,
The four of us talked about it over and over, and we kept deciding to give it one more try.
In the end, Mitsuru will be leaving the band.
It’s because I love Diz,
And everyone who supports Diz.
I didn’t want to share this with you all, but it’s already been decided.
I’m definitely moving forward,
And I’ll keep on trying my hardest.
Although it is a shame that Mitsuru is leaving the band, it seems that they have all agreed that this is the best decision. Hopefully Mitsuru and the rest of Diz will continue to be successful on the paths that they have chosen.
Don’t miss their last live with Mitsuru as part of the lineup on August 1st. Tickets will be sold for 3000 yen in advance and 3500 yen at the door. Doors open 4:00 pm and the show starts at 4:30.
