Vampire's Indefinite Hiatus

vampire hiatus

Vampire, who reformed in 2013 with almost an entirely new lineup, will be entering an indefinite hiatus after their last show on August 8th. Though they’re referring to it as an indefinite hiatus, drummer Rouji‘s comment makes it seem like it will become a disbandment. Read the official announcement and Rouji’s comment below, translated in full by yours truly:

An Important Announcement

We have an announcement for all supporters of Vampire.
We will enter an indefinite hiatus following our 2015/08/08 performance at Ikebukuro BlackHole.
We would like to both thank and offer our sincerest apologize to all of our supporters and staff.

Rouji’s Comment

To those who have been following Vampire for a long time,
and to those who recently discovered Vampire,
I am grateful.

I’m sorry for this disappointing news.

I formed Vampire, and we disbanded once.
3 years later, Gothika and I restarted the band, and here we are.

We had the option to form an entirely new band since our member lineup changed,
but I felt like we hadn’t completely burned out during our first period. I wanted to continue on with Vampire even though we’d broken up once.
More than anything, I wanted people to listen to the songs we’d played during our first period again. That’s what made me decide to revive Vampire.

With the member change, our performance style changed and I think we were able to create something new.
Every member had something good to bring to the band. They’re wonderful.

I loved Gothika’s singing voice the most, though.

I love music.
I love writing music even more.
There are still a lot of things I want to express as Vampire.
However, during our limited time, we’ve played only a few shows.
It would be difficult to continue band activities like this, and so we made the decision to enter an indefinite hiatus.

We’re calling it an indefinite hiatus, but

our next live on 8/8 will probably be Vampire’s last live.
That’s why I want you to etch into your eyes and ears the last image of Vampire.

We’re still figuring out the setlist,
but without a doubt, we’ll play
「躁鬱ヴァイオレット」(Souutsu Violet).

I hope that as many people can come to our 8/8 show as possible.

Vampire initially formed in 2008. A few member changes and some differing opinions later, the band broke up in 2010. They reformed three years later with a new guitarist and bassist in tow. Bassist Mikado left in November 2014 to be replaced by Ue.

The band’s next live will be their last one. Here are the details of the 8/8 show below:

Aug 8 (Sat) @ Ikebukuro BlackHole
Open: 16:00/Start: 16:30
Ticket: 3000yen advance/3500yen same day
With: STELLA… / More / forCroix / Sin. / Re;aL

Tickets are still available on e-plus, which can be purchased here.

This is so darn sad… I was so happy to see them back in action… their mini-album was their best release to date.
