Yoshiki, who rounded up his Yoshiki Classical World Tour last month and pulled off a successful performance at France’s Japan Expo, is making a second visit to the U.S.A before New York City’s Madison Square Garden gets X’ed this October.
This year’s Otakon 2014 already features an exciting lineup: the 3-member musical group ALTIMA is featured as the Friday Concert Guest, rising manga-ka Yusuke Kozaki, and Yama, sumo wrestling champion. Now, our favorite X Japan leader and drummer extraordinaire Yoshiki has been added as the Sunday Concert Guest on August 10th. His first appearance at the popular anime convention was in 2006; in 2010, he returned with now-X Japan guitarist Sugizo. 2014 will mark Yoshiki’s first full performance at Otakon.
The set will mainly feature the pieces performed on the classical world tour, but this founding father of visual kei has also promised a little something special for Otakon guests. Full details haven’t been announced yet, but according to Yoshiki’s Twitter, he’ll be bringing along fellow X Japan members Pata and Heath for the ride. What does he have in store? Keep checking S-T as we find out more information!
Otakon 2014 takes place at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD, from August 8-10th. Like we said before, Yoshiki’s performance will take place on the 10th, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy the whole weekend. Passes are $80 whether you pre-order or buy them at the door, but don’t hold off until the day of; membership for the convention is capped at 35,000 attendees this year! For more information, check out Otakon’s OHP.
