As posted on the band’s MySpace…
(July 14, 2010) – DIR EN GREY announces a co-headlining tour with Apocalyptica that begins in Toronto on August 23 and concludes September 12 in Seattle, Washington. A fan pre-sale will begin here this Friday, July 16, and tickets will go on sale to the general public the following Friday, July 23.
Dir En Grey is considered the biggest Japanese rock band ever, and their intense live shows are the perfect way to experience their global appeal. With seven studio albums and tours on nearly every continent under their belt, the band continues to win over new fans with their extreme, unclassifiable sound and mesmerizing performances.
As Billboard noted around the band’s first US appearances in 2006, “Dir en grey has transcended the language barrier in the United States through its music — which mixes pop elements with metal, incorporating lyrics that vocalist Kyo sings and screams — and its appearance.“
Dir En Grey – vocalist KYO, guitarists KAORU and DIE, bassist TOSHIYA and drummer SHINYA – became extremely popular almost immediately upon forming ten years ago and have steadily garnered international critical acclaim and a devoted fan base worldwide. The Los Angeles Times wrote that frontman “Kyo is a staggering vocalist” and “has stockpiled an extreme range of vocal inflections, from a guttural mutter to a tonsil-ripping scream—no electronic effects needed.”
In January 2010, the band wrapped up two years of touring in support of 2008′s UROBOROS by playing two sold out shows at Tokyo’s legendary Nippon Budokan arena and on June 22 Dir En Grey released a CD & DVD set from these shows, titled UROBOROS -with the proof in the name of living…- AT NIPPON BUDOKAN. While many trends come and go Dir En Grey’s music crosses borders and transcends the language barrier worldwide.

YES.
YES. lol I hate to copy the person above but yes omg.
DAMN…no TX…..WHY!!!
shweeeet! september 1st, i am so there. <3
Boy, this has just been a phenomenal year for Canadian jrock fans. Miyavi in June, D’espairsRay in August, and a nice Diru concert to wrap things up before school starts.
But ugh, Sound Academy. =/
Lol like Blackjackstyle said, more for Toronto xD Luckily, I live in Toronto LOL. So we have Miyavi, D’espairsRay, Dir en Grey, possibly X Japan (When they announce tour dates) and Luzmelt. I never thought this would happen here. Ever. But yeah, when I read ‘@ Sound Academy’ I was like FFFFFUUUUUUUU-
And Takuya Angel and Selia were at Anime North as well~ ^^
I’m with KitKat…no Texas date!? wtf, man >>;
Also must add…that I’d rather have new Diru music than a tour
O.O DIR EN GREY IS COMING TO CO AGAIN!!! Effing whheeee~!! Oh Finally, but why??!! why with that other band? ….I just hope there will be actual Diru fans at the concert and I won’t be the only one…XD If there are other Diru fans, no one is going to be paying attention to that other band. I’m so excited~
CO for the third year in a row!!!! I’m so excited, and it’s not at the gothic, deffinately a sign thy’re getting bigger. I hope though this year my fellow CO fans can have at least some respect for the other band, I’ve been pretty dissapotined in how the past bands have been ignored.
i wish .. florida ;—;
!! yes! TORONTOOO : DDDD

And if by ‘Canada’ you mean ‘Toronto’, then yes. With the exclusion of Myv, who DID make an appearance in Vancouver. But, on the bright side, it’s a start, right? :3 (I’m from Calgary, though!)
I know I’ll be going down to Seattle for this one. ♡
DIR EN GREY~!!!
You’re absolutely right. Although admittedly, X Japan has already announced that they’re coming to Vancouver, and I also find that Vancouver cons get great jrock guests. But for those in between (such as yourself), or living out east, you’re right, it’s much more of a pain. My friend lived in Toronto for a year and a half…then moved out east this year, and ended up missing out on all of these concerts. I’ve been lucky to be able to make it to/buy tickets for all them, but a lot of fans here in Canada are left disappointed. Maybe we’ll just have to prove how much demand there is up here!
Uhm, I think the LA show is supposed to be at the Nokia Theatre, not the Wiltern. Where did you get this info?
OMG!!!!!!!!!! DIRU ^^ First MIYAVI N Now I maa see DIRU ^_____________^ It sux that I cant se D’esper but I hope I can see DIRU in Atlanta much easier for me
Dir en grey x Apocalyptica…my dreams just fuckin’ came true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The myspace says that the baltimore and philadelphia dates are reversed from what’s printed above, what are the correct dates?
I just checked and the B’more date is on the 27th
Just bought my tickets for the Philadelphia show! Who else will I be seeing there?
I wish to be there. ;o;
I’m pretty disappointed because the one year I can actually see Dir en grey because their concert date is on a weekend (lol) …..the venue is 16 and up. –______– which, not being 16 yet, obviously I can’t go
Wow a diru american tour completely skipping up TX? Go figure… guess this is what I get for being broke and not able to show my support the last few times they’ve been through
OH. MY. GOD.
OMG, YES. Best combo ever.
