When a legend from the visual kei scene steps back into the spotlight, you can bet we’d take notice!
NATCHIN, the bassist of the seminal SIAM SHADE, announced in the beginning of last month the formation of his new band “21g.” What does 21g stand for? Well, one could speculate, but let’s hear it from the band themselves! Translation courtesy of our own Adventure Tim!
“The name “21g” refers to what is said to be the weight of a person’s soul. After a person has lived out their life and their soul has left their body, they are found to weigh twenty-one grams less than they did before. The soul may only be 21g by default, but if you spend your life working hard to brighten and train your soul, perhaps it might grow more substantial. The four of us have formed a band to inspire people to get fired up and aim to become a soul of over twenty-one grams.”
Sounds deep, no? Let’s meet the people who call themselves 21g!
There is currently very little information about the group’s future activities, with an invite-only live taking place for the filming of their PV on July 17th. More lives are currently being planned for sometime this fall. See below for a preview of their first song, called 「天照賛歌」 (Amaterasu Sanka).
