Hello, readers! If I recall correctly, it’s been a while since we’ve spoken to you directly and Shattered-Tranquility.net has been through a lot in the past year or so! While it’s true we’re always evolving and improving, our changes have never before been so significant. Don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere, and we only have bigger and better things to bring you from here on out.
Let me walk you through some of our changes and opportunities so you can see what Shattered-Tranquility.net will be able to offer you from now on.
First of all, if you don’t know me already, I’m Ku. I’ve been with Shattered-Tranquility.net for nearly two years now. I’ve covered lives, built and contributed to the Venue Navi, been active in back-end renovations for the site, translated messages from bands and management left and right, and written more news posts than I can shake a stick at! Basically, I’ve done it all!
During my time here I’ve seen all kinds of things — and people — come and go. Most changes have been for the better; a few for the worse. But we’ve learned and continued to grow over the time I’ve been with the site and I’m proud be a part of it now more than ever. As of the end of May, I’ve taken over as Shattered-Tranquility.net’s executive editor.
With my new position I’ve been making structured changes to the way the site is run and the way we deliver news to you. You might not see it all on the surface, but it means good things for you: more news, more features, and more content — more often.
We’ve bounced back into business over on Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr! If you prefer social networking to pulling up our website every day, you can Like or Follow or Friend us and get your updates more directly and conveniently.
With our new changes come new openings for staff members; we’re looking for new additions to the news team! If you’d like to see what we’re looking for and what the team is all about, please check out the About Us page and the News Staff Application. We’ve also created a new role to help out with background work on the site — so if research is more your cup of tea, we’d love to hear from you.
Ready for some excitement? Ernie’s come back to us, as you can see in our new layout design! (What do you think of it, readers?) He’s here again to dole out random facts and to take your questions — feel free to write to him and ask what happened to your favorite ex band members, get more information about a new band, or anything else that comes to mind! He’s the visual kei guru here.
Ernie will relaunch the Weekly Discussion Question this week to pick your brains and get you talking! Maybe you’ll make some new friends in the comments section who like the same bands you do!
Ask the Staff is open again, where you can ask us questions about life in Japan in general and anything that Ernie might not know as much about, being a hamster.
Lastly, My VK Room is open for new submissions. Share your visual kei collection with our readers around the world! We know some of you have some really cool stuff hidden away.
That’s all I have to report for now, but as an end note I’d like to say that we’re always listening. We always welcome suggestions, news tips, and general feedback from our readers. Feel free to let your voice be heard in the comments section of this post as well!
Thanks for reading, and rock on!
