For fans of 来音 (Raion,) we have some sad news today. It appears that Sora, also formerly the guitarist of KiraLez, committed suicide last week. Due to the circumstances, they’ve cancelled all upcoming performances, and they’ll be going on indefinite activity pause.
Thank you; this is Iroha, vocalist of “Raion”.
I think it’s sudden, but there is something I have to tell you all today.
It’s about “Sora” who played guitar for out band.
We haven’t heard from him since the 9th this month,
And though we tried to contact him at his parents’ home several times as well,
This morning we were contact by his family —
We’ve come to understand that Sora passed away this month on the 11th.
The cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning, from a charcoal burner inside his car*.
Because he died in a place that’s away from the public eye, he was discovered three days after his death.
Having repeated breaks in contact with him since some time ago,
We had been waiting to hear from him, this time, too, without considering it much,
But it turned into this, and I haven’t even sorted my own thoughts about it yet.
Since beginning “Raion,”
Sora had also gone to the hospital due to mental illness**.
I also heard that he did something like try to commit suicide.
Due to things like financial troubles, his cell phone was also shut off.
While knowing this, there was nothing I could do about the result.
This time, I don’t yet understand the reason for his decision to die,
But when I heard from Sora’s family and friends who visited his home,
I think that he did what he really wanted to do and died.
Everyone who has supported Sora until now,
Everyone who has supported the band “Raion” until now, even though it’s been such a short time,
Everyone related to the live houses and our band,
I am deeply sorry for it coming to this.
While it’s truly selfish,
Pleas allow us to cancel the scheduled live on the 28th of this month at Messe Hall.
And after today, please allow the band “Raion” to go on an indefinite hiatus.
There is only a small amount of time left, but thank you very much.
In the end, to anyone reading this, if there is anyone considering death,
No matter whom it’s to — family, close friends — please be absolutely honest to someone about your thoughts.
There is surely someone who can help you, so please don’t make the decision by yourself no matter what.
It’s probably difficult to read, but I wanted to tell you everything I know.
Thank you very much.
* An unfortunately common method of suicide in Japan due to its availability.
** In Japan, “mental illness” also refers to emotional illnesses as well, such as depression.
We offer our condolences for the family and friends of Sora, and wish that everyone keep them in your thoughts during this time.
