Weekly Discussion Question Round Thirty Seven

Howdy, folks! It’s Ernie, and I gotta tell you: today is just not a good day for my hamster nerves. I won’t name any bands, but after listening to new songs from various visual kei groups, I am an unhappy hamster. There are types of vocals that just irritate me, I’m not sorry to say! And I hope some of these drummers, bassists, and guitarists step up their game. Most of them aren’t bad, but they could be better. Anywho, that brings me to this week’s questions!

Are there bands that really get on your musical nerves? Do certain vocalists or vocal styles annoy you? Or do certain types of guitar rifts or drum beats really disappoint you? Is there a band whose sound you just can’t stand?

Especially with this topic, remember to be respectful of others and their opinions. Feel free to comment on this page or via Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr. Also, be sure to check out last weekend’s question; it was a productive discussion of the visual kei community in your area!

And if there’s something you’re dying to debate or talk about with other fans, let us know!

The only good VK music to me is Kote Kei. Most bands these days are just gross. -_-

In my opinion a lot of the newer bands just plain bore me. There’s some that I do like (such as Mejibray) but personally I don’t like the shift towards simple, poppy music with overly bright and sparkly costumes to compensate for it. I feel like a lot of the more original-sounding bands are fading away, or at least being overshadowed by all the sparkly new bands.
Also for the longest time I couldn’t get into Screw or Lycaon because I didn’t really like the singers’ voices, but now I’m starting to like Screw and I’m madly I’m love with Lycaon.
