Naine fans will have an official drummer for their last handful of lives.
As Naine fans know, after their upcoming One Man “NEW ANSWER IS NEW ENDING– CATASTROPHE” at Shibuya WWW, Naine will be disbanding.
Naine, which has not had an official drummer since the departure of masaki back in 2013, announced that their support drummer, JOL, would become an official member. JOL, known for his work as the eccentric drummer for Quinstet and the variety of bands he support-drummed for (Including Naine and Ecthelion) decided to officially join Naine for the remaining time.
Many fans would be confused that JOL was not a member, as it was common for JOL to be seen in official photos and even cheki available for purchase at the band’s merchandise booth. So, with the official announcement made, it was logical that JOL would continue on until the end. Naine’s final live, scheduled for September 9th at Shibuya WWW will also be the last live for JOL as a musician… at least, for now.
JOL announced in his blog (which has been translated below by Shattered-Tranquility’s AdventureTim) that after his current schedule, he will be ending his musical activities. Due to playing the drums excessively hard, this talented drummer has repeatedly injured his spine and knees, making it difficult to contineu at the current pace.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support of JOL! JOL has two big announcements for you.
First, NAINE will be ceasing their activities following their September 9th solo performance at Shibuya WWW.
It was April last year when I first started as a support member for NAINE. I was worried at first about what play style would be best for support, but the others just told me to drum like I always did, with all my strength, so I’ve just been doing my thing. They even had me take part in band pics, even though I was a support member, and they made sure my opinion got heard and it had a real effect on our activities. I’m sure a lot of bandmen and affiliates and guests were like, “wait, this guy is a SUPPORT member?” haha.
All of the members talked for a long time before we got to this decision, and we made it with the goal of making NAINE the best it can possibly be.
Next, on top of that decision, I was requested by the band to join NAINE as a full member to face the last show on September 9th with them. I myself thought the idea of being a support member for the September 9th show was a little off, too.
I owe NAINE a great debt for allowing me to experience a part of what I created during my time with Quinstet.
I think I may be able to see the end coming.
In any case, I’d like to be not just a supporter, but a real member, when the day comes on September 9th. For both the members of NAINE who believed in me, and all of NAINE’s audience.
What’s more, I have another important piece of news to deliver.
Since Quinstet disbanded, I’ve been drifting from band to band playing support and doing sessions, like every day is a new wave. It went by in the blink of an eye. The number of requests for support I got post-breakup may have been what saved me, mentally. I have no doubt I would’ve become ill if I hadn’t had anything to do.
But conversely, I was so focused on cramming my schedule full of things to distract me that it began to destroy my body. Most fans will probably know, in my normal play style I really go wild on the drums. But somewhere along the line, in the middle of lives my back and knees would start hurting again.
I started getting seriously concerned. I’m still in and out of the hospital right now, which is why the level of my support has dropped recently. For the time being, though, I’ve gotten a little better.
With all that in mind, the decision which NAINE recently reached at the end of lots of illuminating and serious debate, was the one I mentioned before. After September 9th, JOL’s drum activities (including support) will come to a close for now. I will not be adding any lives beyond the ones currently scheduled, and I’m going to take this time to focus on my body’s recovery while thinking hard about where to go from here.
I mean, my drum style was never really meant for support after all, haha. What was a support member doing out front? haha
As such, barring any big surprises, after September 9th, I have no plans to play any support or do any sessions. For now, I’m focusing on NAINE’s 9/9 show. I’m resolved to hit the day headlong like the JOL you all know. On 9/9, I want us all to have one last laugh, and the best show possible together!
“A new answer is a new ending.”
This was longer than I meant it to be, but thanks to you for sticking with it! Keep on loving JOL till the end.
Oh oh yeah, I plan to only post on this blog as JOL three more times! Thanks! (・ω・)ノ

It is very saddening for this reporter to hear of JOL’s semi-retirement, as he is an extraordinarily talented, young musician. We at Shattered-Tranquility wish JOL the best of luck in recovery, and we will keep an eye out to see where he goes in the future.
