What does it take to get booted from your own band?
Well, many people today are no doubt asking Kei of Rubik, who was forcefully removed from his band on June 8th. Rubik, who had performed only days prior for Kei’s special Birthday live at Urawa Narciss, had not given any warning to the impending doom of their vocalist. Many fans awoke on June 9th to find Kei’s rather cold goodbye. The full blogpost has been translated below by S-T’s Elena.
At this time, because of my own inhuman conduct, I have caused great trouble to all the fans who support Rubik, all the staff as well as the office, labelmates, and the members.
I extend my deepest apologies to everyone.
And, for the shame of my conduct at this time, to take responsibility for my actions, I am cutting apart my own dream, and from now on I will live my life working hard to redeem myself.
Thank you so much for everything until now.
I am truly sorry for making such a sudden announcement.

In addition, all other members have updated their ameblos with the following vague announcement.
To the fans, staff, and everyone who is looking at this blog.
At this time it has come to light that our band Rubik’s vocalist, Kei, has committed a truly inhuman act.
For that reason it has come about very suddenly but, after a conference between the members and our office, we have reached the decision that we cannot help but dismiss Kei himself.
In line with this decision, all the activities that are planned from here on will be performed by the other four members.
We are truly sorry that things have turned out this way.
From now on, more than ever we will focus our energies and move forward with our maximum effort, so please continue to support us.
To the staff and all the fans, we have caused to great trouble and worry, but please understand and acknowledge this.

This isn’t the first time a member of a band has been kicked out (many will remember the recent dismissal of Zamuza of Minus Jinsei Orchestra for his philandering and the Xrista’s Vocalist who was fired for theft and missing lives) but this recent announcement has left far more questions than answers. The wording of both Rubik’s Manager and Kei’s post speak of inhuman acts, but our Researchers here at Shattered-Tranquility have not found any reliable information in regards to what those acts could have been. Since it is highly doubtful anything more will be said in regards to Kei’s departure, it will simply be an unsolved mystery in band history.
The good news for fans is that Rubik has decided to continue forward with its upcoming lives, so if you’re in the Saitama area you can catch Rubik’s next live on 6/13 at Urawa Narciss. Information on the live is below!
6/13 @Urawa Narciss
Act: Rubik/Danger Gang/ Murasaki/RagEnd/Ravi/ROMiO./GIGA FREAKS/UNAVOID
Anyone planning on going? And what do you think of Rubik’s announcement? Anyone else left with that niggling question?
