S-T.net has been following DALLE since they transitioned from a copy band to an official band that produces original songs. They’ve since added ryo (HOLLOWGRAM, TAG, KEEL, ex. 9GOATS BLACK OUT) as a vocalist, and a couple of new support members as well.
On May 6th, DALLE hosted “TOKYO DEATH DISCO #4” at Shibuya VUENOS. They were at the tail end of a series of illustrious bands playing at the event, including Der Zibet and dieS. The venue was crowded, to say the least, by the time DALLE took the stage, with some of the audience forced to huddle on the staircase or in the balconies above.
The members took the stage, the usual black dominating their wardrobes. Közi (Gt.) wore his signature eyeliner and loose-fitting clothing, and ryo (Vo.) sported a black coat with ruffles spilling out of the sleeves and collar. Bassist and leader atsushi hatta underwent a noticeable image change, exchanging his signature gray hat for a slightly more rock hairstyle, a black cowl that engulfed his shoulders, and a kilt.
Their set opened with FENCES, their first demo CD. The audience was visibly excited for their performance, shouts heard between songs. They played through other DALLE standards such as EXIT and a cover of Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence.
The set shifted through heavier tunes like Warsaw, but segued into more poppy covers like I’m not in Love. Asphalt, one of the songs that rounded off their set for the night, had the entire audience involved. The real highlight of the night was the debut of witch craft pictures, an original song that displays an entirely new, dark, and almost maniacal side of what DALLE is evolving into. Vocalist ryo was unfortunately having some trouble singing, but his performance style more than made up for it.
This performance was unfortunately the last performance for Yugami, but there’s no doubt that both him and fans are anxious to see where DALLE will go next. Their next gig, “TOKYO DEATH DISCO #5,” will be held on July 29th (Fri) at Shibuya VUENOS. They’ll be joined by Der Zibet and VANIRU. Tickets are 3,500yen advance, but you can get a pre-order ticket with an original wristband included for 4,000yen as well.
DALLE is planning to release a new single at TOKYO DEATH DISCO #5. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
