Acryl agitt is the brainchild of designer Daisuke Ichikawa, who worked for three seasons on acclaimed Japanese subculture fashion brand h.NAOTO‘s Tokyo Collection before heading up his own fashion house. Acryl agitt is “a men’s brand based on a collage of a surreal rock art mode and beatnik street style,” with heavy emphasis on layering and custom pieces. Acryl agitt has already designed pieces for the likes of Gackt, vistlip*, and Golden Bomber, and yo himself is something of an ambassador for the up-and-coming brand.
As our readers are surely familiar, Matenrou Opera has been active since 2007, built upon a theme of contemporary classical, inspired by the foreboding, futuristic architecture of skyscrapers and the “grand symphonic sound” embodied in opera. In terms of aesthetics, Matenrou Opera has long employed a hybrid light goth-street style, with an emphasis on androgyny, layers, and draping.
Browsing through samples on the brand’s webstore, you can see how Acryl agitt’s style complement’s Matenrou Opera’s, especially with the Acryl CANDY line, which has a particularly “cinematic contemporary” feel.
In addition to a webstore, Acryl agitt has a flagship store in Shinjuku, and sells through eleven more locations, their reach ever-extending in the trendier markets of Japan.
Although yo will not be performing as a musical guest at AnimeNEXT, nonetheless he will be participating in panels and autograph sessions throughout the three days of the convention, in addition to his being featured as a guest model for Acryl agitt. And if you think you’ve got the chops to be AnimeNEXT’s Top Model, you, too, may have a chance to share the catwalk simply by filling out the application here. If you’re selected, you’ll get a free badge for the convention, plus the priceless memory of being a model for a weekend.
