At Shattered-Tranquility.net we don’t typically cover foreign visual kei acts. It’s nothing personal; we love knowing that the love is spreading overseas and inspiring new acts to spring up all over the world, but our site’s scope falls only within the realm of bands active in Japan. Every so often a foreigner or two will surface in the scene and cause a stir, and this time we have a whole band doing just that.
Indonesian visual rock band MEA has announced a miniature Japanese tour at three popular visual live houses with several popular visual kei bands. Though it seems they’re still a small band, they appear to have an online following, and it’s not hard to see why. Not only is the band offering residents back home the rare chance to experience a taste of visual rock, they’re bringing their own heavy flavor right back to Japan to contend with the local scene in Tokyo.
The four-piece unit consists of Bare on vocals, Byv on guitar, Steve on bass, and Shen on drums. During their two-day, three-show mini-tour, MEA will be selling their first mini-album, “Revival,” which will see its release in their home country on April 20th, and includes the above song, “DROP H[E]ART.” If you’re in Japan at the end of next month, here’s where you can catch Indonesian visual rock with some well-known indies artists —
