Unfortunately, this does not appear to be an April Fool’s joke.
ka-yu, the long-running bassist of Janne Da Arc, officially left the band on March 31 amid suspicious activity he has allegedly committed. The band’s official statement says that in September last year, ka-yu was sent certified documents that pointed at something heinous he had allegedly done by a lawyer. Since the allegations may be taken to court, Janne Da Arc’s management cannot currently release any details, but it was enough to throw suspicion on the bassist. When asked his thoughts on the situation, ka-yu decided that he had something he wanted to protect more than Janne Da Arc and decided to leave the band. The only comment he left for fans was, “Thank you for everything.”
The band wanted to continue on in his absence, but with vocalist yasu’s recovery still ongoing and with no clear end in sight, it was ultimately decided that for the sake of everyone’s future, the band would break up. And so Janne Da Arc, which has been around for nearly 23 years, is no longer.
We’ll update you on members’ future whereabouts when we hear about it.
