Unfortunate news about Dear L’Novel today: the band has announced on their homepage that they will be going on hiatus. It seems the decision was mutual, and perhaps sudden for fans. The hiatus went into effect on March 5th with the post on their site, and there has been no announcement of a final show or event before the pause.
Dear L’Novel has not had it easy since the start of their activities. Things ran smoothly after their first live in 2008, until their Guitarist Yura left in 2011, only to be followed by bassist Pochi two months later. Current bassist Daiki joined a few months after Pochi left, but then drummer Kiyo left a year later, which left them at the 3-man lineup they still have today. Most of their activity as far as releases go had been focused in 2010 and 2011, peaking with the release of their first full album.
Despite the challenges they had faced, and a quiet 2012, Dear L’Novel was making great strides recently, including the release of a live DVD and a concept album 「愛と死」 (Ai to shi), both in 2013. Unfortunately, it seems like it was just not meant to continue in that way.
The following announcement was posted on their website, and translated by our Adventure Tim.
