Baddies to Pause Indefinitely

baddies
It’s not a good time to be a Hana Shounen Baddies fan, unfortunately. Back in February we informed you that their bassist Hiroshi would be pausing his live activities due to personal reasons –within the last few days, they’ve come back with more bad news. Starting June 1st, Hana Shounen Baddies will be going on indefinite pause. Guitarist Minemura left a comment on his blog, of which has been translated by our own Jackson. Once additional statements are made regarding the hiatus, we’ll update this post.

Dear Blossoms,

One day in the summer of 2004, Hiroshi and I were sitting in a cafe in Ikebukuro.

“Wanna start a band together?” I asked him.

“I was just thinking that!” he replied.

After that, we recruited Takuma, Tsubuku and Baku one by one until that November, when we finally formed Billy. At that time, we promised each other that we five would always try to get along, and if it ever got to the point where we couldn’t, then we would break up the band immediately.

In May 2009, due to some contractual circumstances and new objectives among our members, we changed our name to Hana Shounen Baddies and started again. We told each other again and again that as long as we just had the five of us, we would be all right.

This February, Hiroshi became unable to take part in the band anymore. Before we had time to even feel sympathetic or angry toward him, suddenly we were just left with empty space where he used to be.

We always strove to keep what was important to us in our hearts: the miracle of us five being a band together, the dream of youth that Hana Shounen Baddies created together. But unfortunately, this is something we can no longer do.

Beginning on June 1st, 2014, Hana Shounen Baddies / Billy will be going on indefinite hiatus.

Blossoms who have come all this way with us, Blossoms who have loved us forever, Blossoms whom we’ve only just met, and Blossoms who’ve sadly come a little apart from us; no matter when fate brought us together, I’d like to express how thankful we are to each and every one of you. And if you’ll allow us, then we can enjoy the time we have left together, with the music of Baddies and Billy, and in each of our lives we can bring you our hearts full of hope for your future happiness.

I know how awful it is of us to impose our wishes at the cost of saddening all of you Blossoms. I’m sorry. But we are a band whose wish is to always bring happiness, and we’d like to bring it to all of you until the very end. I want to engrave our happiness at being able to meet all of you Blossoms into stone. I want us all to laugh together, to mess around together right up until the end.

Details about our June 1st live will be published on our homepage at the beginning of the week.

I love you all, Blossoms. Let’s always be happy.

Their last live before the hiatus will take place on May 29th at Tsutaya O-WEST, as part of Goemon Records 1st Anniversary Tour. REALies, Arlequin, LIPHLICH, amber gris, Blitz, GIGAMOUS and landz will also be in attendance, and tickets will cost ¥3800 (¥4300 day of) to attend. They go on sale March 27th.

Additionally, their final instore event for their album “Basic” will take place at Shibuya ZEAL LINK on May 31st, where they’ll be holding a talk and signing event, as well as an acoustic live! For those of you who bought this album, this will most likely be the last time to see them live for a long while, so make it if you can!

If more comments become available, we’ll update this post and keep you informed.
